Chiefs @ Panthers: Post-Game Open Thread

Yes, the Chiefs deserve a pink donut for the pathetic donut they put up today against the Panthers. You know it’s bad when I feel stupid for being overly optimistic about the game. There’s offensive ineptitude and then there’s whatever the hell that was by Damon Huard and Co. This is why I don’t believe in Herm Edwards. Not scoring first for Harm is almost like a 48-0 hole for most coaches, because there’s no coming back. Again, this needs to be his last season and we need to get another legitimate young quarterback on the roster immediately. Huard gets a vote of no confidence after this performance. I’m going to go puke…

Addicts, sound off on the Chiefs’ blowout loss…

Adam I pretty much always agree with your assertion that Herm needs to goo..Seriously! Vermeil or Gunther or Marty have never had a single game like that, however the chiefs have played plenty under Herm Edwards

  2. 2. kpi03 Says:

We are trash. Can we still sign simms since he got released?

Take a look at our remaining schedule….LOOK AT IT!

    12/21/08 Miami Dolphins
    12/28/08 at Cincinnati Bengals

Tell me what game anyone sees with a win in our remaining schedule! Anyone? Anyone? Bueller…Bueller…..What the hell has happened to our Chiefs!?! It’s a Damn shame that Tony G. became the All Time GREAT in this piss poor performance instead of last week! What is the coaching staff doing? Herm had no idea what hit him in the press conference…..none!

Pass me a frikin Donut - I like the pudding filled Thanks.

I’d like to thank the great folks at Miller for making that great brew. It’s unfortunate that I have to drink a 12 pack ever Sunday. Carl and Herm should at least pitch in and buy me a few cold ones each week.

  5. 5. tim Says:

im so glad i slept in, that kind of a beating is not something u want to watch :P

hehe larry with 7 carries and 2 yards. thats awesome. Please trade him before week six deadline, while he is worth something…. after this season he stock will fall and we will get a poor deal.

  6. 6. tim Says:

    I see it…

Larry johnson and a 2nd round pick. For Roy williams and 1st round pick.

Lions will do it for sure, they are in the shitta and need a RB. Lets make it happen chiefs.

  7. 7. d2gogetit Says:

I really thought we would play decent. But the only thing that looked good in this game is know that I am atleast going to get the #2 pick overall. As for larry trade his ass, Atleast Jamal Charles is a good blocker. Draft Chase Daniels with the first pick , pick up a RE in the second round, spread this crap that herm has gave us and pass the freakin ball. I know eveyone says chase daniel is not nfl type. Well atleast I see a leader in him he takes control and is scared of nothing. Go mighty mo.

Today might have been the worst day of my life… thanks herm.

Wow that was ugly. Where are all the Huard guys now. We won in spite of him last week. He lacks arm strength and plays like he does not want to be out there. He looks as if he is just trying to survive. Even last week he missed several throws (out of bounds) that were big plays. The only reason that his completion percentage is good because he must leasd the league in pass completions for no gain. Our other quarterbacks are not any better, but at least they are young and might improve (unlike Huard who seems to get worse on every snap).

I still think that we are moving in the right direction long term. We are young and talented, and will improve. We are only missing a few peices to be a contender down the road. They are however big peices. The number one priority is a quarterback. This is a quarterback driven league and we are finding out that if you want to win consistently you need a quality QB. We need a pass rushing DE (I like Jared, but I also feel the trade was the right move because he was not signing here long term). We also need a MLB, and two o-lineman. I think we can address these in the offseason through the draft and free agency.

The chiefs will use free agency in the next few years to fill holes, and they will spend money. They were rightnot to throw money around this year becuase we don’t need to spend bi g $$ on a free agent this year as we knew we would stink.

I don’t know what people expected . We have commited to blowing this thing up and starting young (the right long term answer). It is going to be ugly. With a young team there will be days like today (yuch) and days like last week (how did they win that).

Well I guess we have two weeks to enjoy this performance.

I for one am not down with LJ being traded, for the record.

Did anyone else share my experience of feeling that Tony G’s record breaking catch was one of the most anti-climactic records I’ve ever seen broken? Herm ought to be ashamed of himself for not letting him get that at home in front of friends and family…and more ashamed for what he told Tony about it - a general quote “When you are putting on that jacket at the Hall of Fame induction it won’t matter and we will look back and laugh about it…”

That’s a bullshit thing to say to someone with as much class as Tony, considering what he has done with his loyalty to KC…seeing him break that record and toss the ball to the sidelines made me more mad at Herm than happy for Tony. He deserved a home crowd standing O for that, at least the Carolina crowd gave him a smattering of applause.

Again, we need to hang on to LJ, he’s leading the AFC in rushing for God’s sake (at least he was before today). That’s saying something. And you’re right, Dave, I don’t see another win on the schedule, maybe until the Bengals game.

  12. 12. sandya Says:

To all of you who think we are heading in the right direction do me a favor: Wake up! Did it look like we we’re heading in the right direction while watching the game? That was the worst blow out of the years..Easily.. That was the worst game the chiefs have played in 20 years..Read Posnanski’s article..Herm and the team seem to not even be that pissed about the game..

This is complete BS…Do you really believe Herm is the right person for the job? If you do, I really don’t know where your heads at..It would seem to me that you are indeed insane..Seriously..

Can we quit blaming everything on rebuilding? That is a terrible excuse..So is the fact that this is all some how vermeils fault..I guess we should just blame vermeils first two years on Gunther Cunningham and his two years on Marty then right? Wake up to reality folks..Quit being ignorant..Even if it is the players job to play, we should have a coach that is plugging in players that are capable of playing.

Hey Herm: How does that arena league scoring effort seem now? Do you still want to diss it, you fucking idiot! This guy loved mediocrity

ARE YOU KIDDING!?!? “TRADE LJ”??? Hahaha! Thats SO stupid.

  15. 15. MasterBlaster Says:

Well…the 09 draft is going really well.

Yah know, I was thinking, can we make Herm Edwards the new GM?

I mean, he can’t coach; but he has an amazing eye for tallent in the draft. Isn’t that about text book perfect for a GM?

Oh, and im back on the fence about trading LJ. At this point, I almost want to ship him to a team that has a chance of going to a super bowl.

Yah know, I payed 240 bucks for NFL Sunday Ticket cause I live in Vegas now. Can I get a refund? I mean seriously. Do you guys think that game was worth 15 bucks? I didn’t even watch the whole thing. Some where in the 3rd I hit my TIVO fast forward. Just wanted to put the damn thing outa its missery haha.

  16. 16. Eric Crane Says:

    MasterBlaster-

You might not have seen it, but I mentioned in my piece Friday how Herm did want to be a GM all along, from his days with Tony Dungy

  17. 17. Eric Crane Says:

Herm wanted to be a GM

  18. 18. doc Says:

Crane - I was talking about that on the live chat earlier today. I was so embarrassed for the Chiefs. It couldn’t have been anymore anti-climatic. The needed 10 yards or whatever for a first down so they throw it five yards to tony who is tackled immediately… what the hell. It really upset me. The Chiefs better do something for him in 2 weeks at home. It was just pathetic today.

Also, can we please stop waiting to use JC till the 2nd half?!?! The guy is fast. fast. fast. What happened to using both Tony and Cottom? I am so sick of this anemic offense. If you guys think about it I bet we can guess what the exact play that Herm is going to run 75% of the time! He is too predictable and he doesn’t have the OLine to play the way he wants to and he’s too stubborn to do anything else. I thought Chan was going to change things, but he hasn’t. Shock, it all comes back to the qb though doesn’t it?

Saw this on The Kansas City Star’s website. Thought it was clever and well crafted:

And lo the army of Arrowhead went unto the land of Carolina, and marched into the valley of the Panthers. And the army of Arrowhead was filled with the spirit after their victory over the horsemen of Denver. But the Panthers were afraid not of the army of Arrowhead. For the Panthers had read the commandments set forth from King Carl and the Worm Sperm and knew them.

And the greatest commandment was from King Carl and was written “Thou shalt have no other plan then the 5-year plan, for the plan is good.”
And the other commandments were from the Worm Sperm and were written “Thou shalt run twice before daring to fly.”
“Thou shalt dare not fly if thou has the advantage.”
“Thou shalt always kick when thou senses trouble.”

And the Panthers pounced on the army of Arrowhead from the ground and from the air, and feasted on them. And the chariot Johnson was destroyed by the Panther hoard. And the Worm Sperm anger against Prince Damon was rekindled. And his Croyle lust grew, but Croyle had not yet rested enough to lead the army of Arrowhead. So the Worm Sperm unleashed the Pigpen and had Prince Damon flogged. But the Pigpen stinketh, and the Worm Sperm was puzzled and perplexed and wandered the battlefield as if without his mind. And the army of Arrowhead was torn asunder until the Worm Sperm ordered its retreat.

And lo the scribes that wrote praises and tributes for King Carl and his harlot Worm Sperm were dumbfounded and afflicted for words. And the people, hearing of the humiliating defeat of the army of Arrowhead were seething in their anger against King Carl and his harlot Worm Sperm, and they cursed the false god Clark.

And the lord looked down upon the great tribulation that was the city of Arrowhead and said “Woe, Woe unto Arrowhead.” And the lord said unto me “Go and prophesy unto the people this warning. Tell the people that the lord sayeth the land of Arrowhead will not be blessed until the red blood of Arrowhead is drained away. The righteous must cover their heads in sackcloth to not look upon the evil that infects Arrowhead. And the righteous must not enter into the gates of Arrowhead and gave not their treasure to the idol Clark, for he and King Carl and the Worm Sperm have sinned a great sin.”

And then the lord spake this promise, “I hear the prayers of the righteous and am testing them. Verily I say the day of deliverance is coming. They that obey my words will store up much treasure. For I am preparing a great feast to celebrate the day King Carl and the Worm Sperm are cast out. And the righteous will enter a new kingdom and will be rewarded.”
