AADQ: New Chief Mark Bradley

by AADQ

It was good to see Panthers and ex-Bears WR Muhsin Muhammad raving about his ex-teammate and new Chiefs WR Mark Bradley (thanks for adding that to the comments, Jeremy). As a K-State fan, I saw plenty of Bradley back during his Oklahoma days. I remember thinking he was going to be a stud in the pros, because he was making play after play against a K-State secondary which now has a bunch of guys who make a living playing on Sundays.

In the pros, Bradley has underwhelmed a bit. I blame that on injuries and inconsistent quarterback play. After all, it was Muhammad who said Chicago is where “receivers go to die.” And Muhammad has backed up his statement with his resurgent play in Carolina through the first four games of this season. As an avid fantasy player, I’m always looking to claim that next breakout receiver off waivers. There were a couple times that I made Bradley a speculative add because I was so impressed with a particular game performance.

Basically, he has a lot of potential. He is extremely injury prone, however, which could continue to hold him back. I like this signing a ton, though. This is not another Devard Darling signing; it’s much more like the Eddie Kennison move or my proposed Matt Jones move had he of been cut (both were first-round picks, Bradley was a second-rounder). What am I trying to say here? That if Bradley flops, and he definitely could, it will be because injuries have taken a toll, and not because he never had the talent to hack it in the first place.

What does everybody else think about the addition of Bradley?

As Hawks said, this signing worries me a bit. Sure, he could provide depth, but is he going to be a solid number two? Doubtful. Think of him as Brodie Croyle, an obvious comparison. They have talent, they are just too banged up to utilize it, even when they can stay on the field.

All this means is that we'll be even less likely to target a bigger-named guy in FA. This is a total cop-out, when we have that much money to throw around, and there are young, big-time WR's out there, wanting to be away from their other teams. Anquan and Roy aren't that old, and they want PAID, yo. We gots da bills, son. I don't know what they taught anyone else in school, but 2 + 2 = 4. Think about it.

I'm not ruling him out but we have some much cap room it's rediculous not to use some of it. I remember him from college and he was really good but i'm worried he's gonna be like Sippio or Darling.

I am excited for any new player to get a chance to play....especially one who had so much promise that has just had a tough time in the league so far...hopefully he can learn from Tony and some others that to succeed you have to work ridiculously hard...maybe we will uncover a diamond here....but...maybe not

Ya they signed someone once again who has never proven themself and for some reason are scared of making a big transaction. Just incase you haven't heard Detroit wants to get rid of Roy Williams and Anquan Boldin will be a free agent. I will not be impressed until the get DBowe some help out there with someone capable of something.

Obviously we need the help, so I am all for him. Let's hope he can provide something this year. If I was Jeff Webb or Devard Darling I would feel extremely worried right now. (Will Franklin is moving up, and they seem to be coming down.)

Well, I think he knows Bradley won't do much if anything this week. I also think that he saw a young man who he liked on the verge of potentially losing his dream, which probably outweighed the upcoming game. It's not uncommon. Ray Lewis and Ocho Cinco are good friends, and Ray talked him into suiting up for the Ravens. I guess that even for these guys life and relationships are bigger than work sometimes.

My inner Grassy Knoll has me pondering why Moose would be so active and interested in having his next opponent sign his friend / former teammate?

I do agree with you though about what a stud he was at OU. Let's hope it works out in our favor somehow.
