    • MadMartigan : I figured as much. its good to see that the apple didn't fall far from the tree in the hunt family. most of me likes the fact that we are being quiet, but the other needs to know.
    • Randy5k : Clark is best friends with Pats owners son hope that helps
    • Woody : Yes, I love it too...Very professional...Randy Lerner has been leaking nonstop and being about as professional as a used car salesman...its sad...
    • Adam : Not yet. Clark is sure keeping things quiet. I like the way he conducts himself. The folks over at PFT are raving about it.
    • MadMartigan : any word how the interview w/ Pioli went?
    • Woody : uh oh....sounds about like what happened to me...I had to call the ISP and have many conversations...
    • Adam : Try refreshing, Randy. Still, I don't know why you'd be having any issues. You use IE?
    • Randy5k : I cant access aa on my home computer anymore anyone else having that problem?
    • Randy5k : I like the way the Chiefs are keeping quiet.
    • Woody : I feel the same way, Adam...I think if the interview is tomorrow then we may know something then or Tuesday...
    • Gump : Pioli looking better all the time. maybe we'll know something tomorrow?
    • Adam : No, I think Pioli is a good bet to come here. I honestly have always felt this situation is better than Cleveland's. The Browns are locked into a lot of bad contracts and have some rotten apples on that team. This is a great spot for Pioli.
    • epic : thanks for the link as well adam
    • Rihavens : I had a nightmare when I was sleeping today that the Chiefs traded Thigpen for a 5th and said they are still commited to Croyle. It was so plausable I had to double check.
    • Woody : Cool...its exciting...You think it is just posturing language?
    • Adam : Here's the AP link: «link» (you can always just paste in links)
    • Woody : Don Banks article...second bullet-point...
    • epic : where does it say that at?
    • Woody : Don Banks says Pioli is "excited" about the situation in KC...Check SI.com for more, or AP
    • chiefsfan3131 : I miss Jared Allen!!!
    • Adam : Haynesworth isn't going anywhere.
    • chiefsfan3131 : I'll agree with ya again about Suggs being a priority, could you imagine the benifits of having him and Haynesworth. I can Dream I guess...LOL
    • Adam : That would be very interesting. Shanny is down in Mexico for two weeks, so we won't know anything about him going anywhere untilhe returns apparently.
    • chiefsfan3131 : But rumors are exactly what they are untill something"for real" happens.
    • chiefsfan3131 : Per our NFL source, Warpaint Illustrated has confirmed that former Denver Broncos Head Coach has an eye on Kansas City. Per that source, he has working through a third party to make sure that Clark Hunt knew of his interest in working for the Kansas City Chiefs.
    • chiefsfan3131 : here is the line:
    • chiefsfan3131 : I read it on Warpaint forums.
    • Adam : I have not heard that, but I can see him wanting to exact some revenge on the Broncos like he did the Raiders for years.
    • chiefsfan3131 : Seperate the GM and HC and Team Pres duties. It is more productive for all. As long as all involved can work together. I heard that Shanny would like to come to KC to coach.
    • Adam : Jared is getting triple teamed. Wow.
    • Adam : Well, we have seprated business and football so that is not going to happen.
    • chiefsfan3131 : Moving away from Pioli might be a good Idea. I am not sold on Bringing a guy in that wants the entire package as Gm and Pres. Look at the track record of those who have had that kinda power. Also we just kicked CP to the curb and that was his undoing as well.
    • Adam : Pollard was better than Page this season. Led the team in tackles and had a ton of fumble forces and recoveries. Our entire secondary is fine, especially with a better front seven.
    • chiefsfan3131 : I agree about Page, We need to resign him and put somebody next to him that isn't as useless as The "Bonesmoker" Pollard.

AADQ: Brodie Or Damon?

Tough question. I think you go with Brodie Croyle when he returns, because theoretically he gives the Chiefs the best chance to win long term. Damon Huard gives us the better chance right now, but a 35-year-old career clipboard holder shouldn’t be anything more than a stop-gap option at this point. Well, that and Tyler Thigpen repellent. Additionally, we don’t need to delay our Brodie evaluation another year. For better or worse, we need to decide on him by the end of this season.

Should Brodie or Damon start when Brodie returns?

You nailed it late in the post, Brodie needs to be evaluated. Our O-line is playing much better, LJ is actually running the ball past the line of scrimmage, and the WR’s (besides Darling) don’t look TOO awful. He’s got no excuses this year. We’ve got to see if he can run this offense, and more importantly, we’ve got to see if he can stay healthy the rest of the season. Should he be injured again, he’s no more than a backup who can probably irk out a couple of games a season, and be competent. If he does.. well, we’ll still need to draft/trade/acquire via FA, another QB.

Thigpen should have been released already, though. I don’t care what that man’s cap-hit would be, hell, give him a half a mill bonus on top of that for him to go home.. After all, he was clever enough to trick NFL personnell staff(s) (yes, that’s plural,) that he was a QB. Give him his money and send that man packing, let him get a jump-start on his next career, because he shouldn’t be in this league.

  2. 2. ROC27 Says:

I can totally see it now…

    Thigpen Plumbing!!

I agree. I mean, theres NO REASON Brodie cant thrive in this offense. As it was stated. O-line is doing a great job (ok… well… A BETTER job than earlier this season), LJ has become a threat again, which opens the pass, and Brodie is a more mobile QB than Damon, so… there should be NO excuse as to why we couldnt evaluate him this season.
And xxxlp, youre right. If the kid gets knocked out again, he wont cut it as a starter in this league and he should probably send his wife to Hef at the PLAYBOY mansion so he can thrive off her money.

But other than that. I ALSO agree. We need another QB on this team. And that should be Losman, or a young, big, and strong QB in the draft.

  3. 3. ComeSackMyQB Says:

I agree, my thing ever since the start of this season was “THE TIME IS NOW” I think we need to get him in and get him evaluated so hopefully king crapper and herm the worm can see if he is a waste of time. We need to know now whether we are looking for a fresh face in the off season. Huard changed my mind for me and I think he needs to stick around. Thigstick needs to go, NOW. I think this needs to be the time we say does he stay or does he go for Brodie.

  4. 4. xxxlp Says:

Thigpen Plumbing: When things stink as bad as my NFL career did, call up Thigpen, we’ll fix it up for you!

    Omg I’m dieing.

  5. 5. d2gogetit Says:

its time to give up on brodie, make him a back up and lets move on to the spread offense and draft chase daniels, I thinks we only win 2 more games so we will have a high pick. Daniels shows nothing but leadership and taking control brodie has shown nothing but how he is able to be injured

  6. 6. jbchiefs14 Says:

After the bye week we go with brodie. put him on a short leash and see how he responds. at the same time though the play calling cant change, let him throw the ball.

  7. 7. kcchiefsfan56 Says:

we should start thigpen……..hahahaha im just kiddin guys i think brodie gives us the best chance he came into camp as the starter and if hes healthy he should go

  8. 8. randy5k Says:

I would be for letting Huard kick ass for another game and then slowly introducing Brody. This game has turned Arrowhead attitude around abruptly, we still have our sell out record intact, but we will turn back to a negative outlook just as quickly. Lets get a couple of more wins under out belt, plenty of season left to watch Brody get injured again.

  9. 9. squish78 Says:

Huard needs to play. The young guys need experience and Damon gives it to them. I hate to say it, but Brodie is a bust. He cant stay healthy, even with good O-Line play. After the season, we need to re-evaluate the QB position and move in a new direction. Keep Huard, draft a new QB. Or get a veteran in free agency that can help develop the newly drafted QB. Trying to talk ourselves into beliveing Croyle can make it will not benefit the team.

  10. 10. CBaller13 Says:

Until Damon Huard retires, I stick with him. Croyle is garbage and a waste of time. He’s prolonging the inevitable — career ending injury or failure. If you want to develop someone else, so be it. I’m 100% happy with Damon Huard as our QB for the future. He led us to the playoffs in 2006 and I think if he starts every game next year, he does the same. He’s smart and throws a perfect ball. He may be 35 but I think he has 3 more years in him.

  11. 11. Eric Crane Says:

Go with Brodie. He’ll get hurt in the first game plays in anyway.

A vote for Brodie is a vote for Damon.

  12. 12. Double D Says:

I think there is a pretty simple solution to this actually. As long as Huard wins, Croyle should stay injured and that Croyle will be fully recuperated after Huard loses his first game. Once that happens, you leave Croyle in to evaluate him for the rest of the season. If Croyle gets injured again between now and the end of the season, his evaluation is over. That said, I personally believe Croyle gives us a better chance to win than Huard does both short term and long term but not if he’s unavailable. In the meantime, we could not be more ripe for a trade that sends Kolby Smith to Pittsburgh in exchange for Dennis Dixon.

  13. 13. ComeSackMyQB Says:

    LOL, I’m with you Crane.

  14. 14. CBaller13 Says:

I disagree Double D. Brodie Croyle HAS NEVER WON AN NFL game. Damon Huard is now 15-10. I think Croyle is a career backup. Listen, Croyle has more zip on his ball and is more mobile but he has not shown me the ability to do what Huard can do. When Huard turned around and threw the ball to Bowe on a quick slant in the second half, I sat there and told myself that there is no way Croyle could ever do that. Huard is extremely underrated and if he had a decent offensive line the guy would thrive.

  15. 15. Double D Says:

Huard is getting too old to be the future of this franchise and we need somebody who can fulfill that role for the next 10 years or so. Plain and simple. For me, Croyle’s preseason game against Chicago stands as the best example of why he is preferable to Huard. Now, that said, I tend to agree that Croyle probably makes more sense in the role of backup should we ever find somebody good enough, young enough, and durable enough to take his job.

  16. 16. Jeremy_Riverside_CA Says:

Brodie needs to play this year. Even if he is decent this year we still need to draft a QB. GO Chiefs!!!!

  17. 17. Vrod74-MikeSD Says:

I agree with Adam. Start Brodie when he gets back. If he gets hurt we draft another guy next year or trade for Beck, Brohm, A. Smith, or maybe even Troy Smith, since Flacco is looking pretty good right now. Hell trade Hueard to Pittsburgh for Byron Leftwich.

  18. 18. Double D Says:

    Brohm is horrible. No way.

  19. 19. Double D Says:

And if I hear one more person suggest we use our number 1 draft pick on Chase Daniel I’m gonna yuke. Such nonsense.

  20. 20. Adam Best Says:

Double D, I smell a “Bartender, Cut ‘Em Off” post on the Chase Daniel homers.

  21. 21. Double D Says:

That or “Check Their IDs” :)

  22. 22. Whir Says:

We have to start Brodie when he is healthy, to put this trial to a close. He’ll either sink or swim this season. Even at the expense of giving up possible victories … Although I have to admit, that sweet taste of victory over Denver makes me wonder “What if …”

  23. 23. Jeremy_Riverside_CA Says:

    Chiefs released KR B.J. Sams.

Sams hasn’t been a good returner since tearing his ACL and doesn’t have a position on offense or defense, so he may have trouble finding more work.
    Source: Kansas City Star

  24. 24. Double D Says:

After what Savage and Charles were able to accomplish on Sunday, I could see this one coming from a mile away. Curious to know who they’ll bring in to replace him.

  25. 25. CBaller13 Says:

Until I see someone on our roster that is a legitimate NFL starter, Damon Huard is our guy. Garcia does well and is old. Favre does well and is old. I understand your 10 year plan but why piss the rest of the team off with some crap quarterback when we can at least win games and have the rest of the team develop when Huard is out there giving us a chance to win.

  26. 26. xxxlp Says:

I wouldn’t mind the Kolby Smith for Dennis Dixon (and possibly a late round choice) trade going through. We could use Dixon much like Seattle uses Seneca Wallace, as a backup QB and a WR/H-back. I really doubt he’ll ever be a starter in the league, but hey, he can’t be worse than Thigpen, eh?

We’re not drafting Chase Daniel with our first rounder. Case closed. If he lasts till the third or so, I could see us jumping, if he continues to play well, I might even say second rounder, MIGHT. But to say we should pick him with a high pick in the first round is ridiculous. Same with Freeman.

We need an infusion of young LB’s. We already have DJ, and Demorrio doesn’t look too terrible, so that mostly leaves an MLB to be desired. When you think Maualuga or Laurinitus, think Patrick Willis/Lofa Tatupu-lite. If they can have even close to the same impact that either of those two have had, we’ll be set there for years.

At this moment, I’d say MLB is our greatest weakness, followed closely by WR. Darling has been a major disappointment thus far, as has Webb. Franklin and Robinson haven’t played much due to injury, so the jury is still out. With the possibility looming that Tony G. retires, or worse; demands a trade, we need more than just D-Bowe to keep our QB’s afloat. He’d be double-covered more than T.O., Anquan, and Randy Moss combined. Speaking of Tony G. possibly leaving, we need to think about TE’s. Cottam is good, but like I said, injuries go hand-in-hand with him. We need a consistent TE, even if it’s not at the same level as Tony. That needs to be taken care of in the next couple of years.

  27. 27. Double D Says:

Hey, Webb made a pretty big catch against the Donks!

Will be curious as well to see how well/if K-Throb can contribute after coming off PUP.

I agree about the long-term TE situation.

  28. 28. CBaller13 Says:

I think our biggest hole is still Offensive Line. I want one of the 5 or so first round prospects. If we have two great tackles we are set and we can move Sackintosh to Guard or something. I think we either address OL or MLB via free agency and use our 1st rounder on the other.

  29. 29. xxxlp Says:

It’d be better to use the pick on an MLB top prospects, rather than a lineman with a high first rounder. Mostly all first-round O-lineman prospects are LT’s. We are set at LT, both with Albert, and Taylor. So we really need a RT, and should we choose to draft a Tackle that high, they’ll want LT money for playing the right side. That’s just a hold-out/headache waiting to happen. We can pick up a decent FA RT, probably, or pick up a starting RT later on in the draft, and still be A-ok.
