There is NO WAY we should even consider a 1st rounder for Brady Quinn. A franchise MLB is what we need, and it looks like we'll have our choice of 2. We still don't know about Croyle, but even if we don't by the end of the season, it doesn't look like a franchise QB is out there, but a franchise MLB is and should be taken. Truthfully, with Curl and Herm "Coaching" a young QB, I'm not sure any can succeed here, until at least Curl is gone and a Competant QB Coach(like Terry Shea was BEFORE Herm axed him for his incompetant buddy) is fully put in charge of the position.

A couple of interesting things transpired on Sunday which I think bear mentioning. We all know the Chiefs stunk up the place on Sunday, but I found it interesting that the play calling actually improved somewhat. Although the Chiefs desperate attempt to generate some offense was way too little, way too late, they did actually try. Does this mean an epiphany has taken place in the previously totally idiotic coaching staff? Possibly. We shall see. Secondly New England got beat by Miami. Miami defeated New England by using OFFENSE. Many supporters of HermBall on this blog and others have stoutly maintained that could not be done. A big fat raspberry to any and all who have condemned the use of offense to win games. So much for the ultra-conservative approach to winning games against New England.

The Browns might be singing a different tune come December. We will have to see how this all plays out.

Keep this in mind. The first pick is worth 3000 points. The Browns burned 1350 points to get Quinn.

Also. If the browns pick in the middle (around 16). Their positions of need are going to be gone around 10-12. Go check (Walter football 2009 draft)(I dont feel like typing the details out)

My wishlist still stands

1st Malegula/Laurinitis
2nd Alex Mack
3rd ?(ill know better in december)

and

we should burn our 1st for Quinn...nothing more

or, we should burn our third, and possibly a late round pick, for Brohm from GB. How much is a GB 3rd srtinger worth anyways?

Thats where I stand right now

2 1st's and 2 2nd's is just frickin rediculous (if true). Rebuilding the entire team is still more important, right now, than even the QB position. We should not burn more than a single top pick for a QB.

Oh, and im curious, with all the trading we did last season...is there a chance we could get a 3rd rounder compensatory pick next year? I know the formula for that is secret and works something like Quantum Physics. Any ideas?

lj and the toss should go hand in hand, he got the toss lots from dv and always popped. now we hand him the ball to run up niswanger's ass,(no wonder he played so bad yesterday he felt a little "used") once we started the toss he had maybe only one loss, and most went for 5+, also the drive to the 5 why the HELL did we pull lj and put in charles when lj obviously was owning them on that drive? then we get to 3rd(or maybe 4th) put lj in and he gets us to the 1 inch line STOOPID AGAIN

We are a woeful excuse for a football team and I'm sure I'm not the only one losing the will to live. I think we can safely decree that this is Herm's last season, and if baby Hunt has any balls, it'll be Carl's too, given the amount of talent we've allowed to walk out the door in recent times. Brady Quinn might be a nice little project to have on board, but seriously, 2 1st and 2nd rounders? I think for that we'd be able to pick up something a bit more ready to wear. Hopefully during the draft we can get a QB worthy of being a 1st round pick and either of the two MLB's mentioned here would be nice. I'd like to see a future post on players coming off contract at the seasons end that could fill some of the gaps either side of the ball.

I agree ...should not have taken so long to run him to the outsides. Was extremely happy to see us not run 8 consecutive plays up the middle for a yard or two.

Yes, LJ did look slow to me as well, but damn..Charles is so fast and I think he makes many of backs look slow.

Our problem from what I witnessed as I turned my CHIEFS flag upside down (distress) was again pretty poor play calling on both sides of the ball. What the hell happened to GUN? I think I saw one blitz which was early in the first quarter. Anytime you have a rookie QB you should bring some heat but we insisted on giving him plenty of time.

Secondly...we just don't have a QB PERIOD! None of the guys we have on our roster are going to amount to squat! Huard gives us our best chance but he will be on his back most of the time, but gotta at the least love his accuracy compared to either Croyle or Thiggy.

If these are the QB's we are going to keep and I hate to say it, but keep Thiggy in there to gain some confidence and make the most of it. Another throw in with Huard or when Croyle gets back is not going to do anyone on O any good. Thus far it appears ONE major upside for Thiggy is that he can at least stay in for a full game and to me that is a major upside!

GO chiefs????

I seemed to me that most of LJ's yardage yesterday came from runs to the outside. My question is, why did it take so long to figure this out?

Even before the game LJ was on the bench looking like his dog just got run over. I still think he hates being pulled out on all the third down plays and I believe it is a mistake to do so. I can see subbing in once in a while but Larry just gets some momentum going and has to come out. He has always liked 25 plus carries every game and seems to get better in the fourth quarter. At least we did some different things with him this game and he looked a little like his former self.

I don't see the Brady Quinn trade happening even if it would be interesting. I hope we keep our first round pick for Maualuga. He looks like a beast and thats what we need in the middle so our outsides can live up to their potential

Secondary is coming along as well as can be expected and d-line is improving too. I agree linebackers is our weak spot right now.

We wil have to pick it up some to be 1-4 going into the bye week and thats not as good as I thought we would be before the season started. But who knew(besides Adam) that our qb would go down in the first game. Thigpen might be a decent backup in a few years but I hate to see him starting for us. He is NOT a qb to build a team with.
