A.A.D.Q.: The Brandons

by AADQ

Are Brandon Carr and Brandon Flowers ready to start together at cornerback? I say, yes, because if the Chiefs are going to get slaughtered regardless, then we’ve gotta at least play our young guys. Flowers has looked pretty damn good, and Carr has been hit and miss. Still, you can see how much potential he has on almost every play. Meanwhile, Pat Surtain is just as saavy and smart as he is slow, which means he’s better suited to play nickelback at this point in his career. Also, rookie Matt Ryan and the Falcons will be a much easier first-start match-up for Carr than Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal would be. I’m down with the decision all the way.

Will the Brandons get the job done as rookie starting CBs?

Absolutely down with it. Carr has consistently shown that he can stick with just about anybody.

Oh yes, the Brandon's will be sufficient this Sunday...Mostly just because we are playin them Falcons they are certainly not deep at WR...

KCM I also am pretty particular about players numbers (For example, I love that Herbie changed to 75 if he plans on playing Tackle...and Dorseys 72 as a D-line guy drives me nuts...) I cannot stand college numbers...holy hell...

I think they will be fine. Both are an upgrade over Trip Law from last year. Page and Pollard are coming along nicely. We have the makings of one of the best young secondaries in the league.

i'll just say that i called it long ago. i told you guys that carr would be a starter if not by the start of the season then by week 4, (and so what if its because of injury LOL)

Flowers is a huge upgrade over Law, and Carr has a lot of potential. Love the move, don't love the move of Thigpen starting this week though...

I think the timing on this is perfect. Ryan may give them a good opportunity to build some confidence. And I agree about Surtain. He needs to be playing nickel anyways. Can we start a petition to have Carr change his number. That 39 bugs me.
