A Pats Fan's Opinion On The Pollard Hit

by Fanzone/Tailgating

Reader MC sent this in to us:

I have been a lifelong (35+ years) Pats fan and I sincerely feel that Pollard’s hit wasn’t dirty. I wish Tommy a speedy recovery (I am in the torn acl/mcl club). With Brady’s well-known dedication to working out, I am optimistic that he will be ok for next year. Go Pats!!

There you have it–even Patriots fans don’t think Bernard Pollard‘s hit on Tom Brady was dirty.

Anyone with a brain (ie outside Boston) knows it was clean. They are just sore. Remember when Trent Green was taken out? I was bitching it was dirty for a long while. Did I feel it was dirty? No. Did I need to get some anger out of my system? Yes.

I'm a fat kid. Of course I love hugs.

Just tired of talking about things that are moot and have no bearing on anything whatsoever. Maybe you get off on doing that, but I'd rather talk about things that matter, thanks :)

You could use a hug, huh?

Why are we even still talking about this? The league ruled it a clean hit. Only StevenH and Randy Moss think it was a dirty hit.. All the announcers that I've heard talk about it said that it was a sad thing, and it didn't have to happen that way, but it was a clean hit. IMO this is just a space/time waster. We all know it was a clean, if unofortunate, hit.

“My thing is, the call’s been brought in by our coaches and I just lay on the ground, then everybody’s saying, `Bernard’s showing no effort on this play.’ Then I’m not a dirty player but I’m a bad player, or not a good teammate because I don’t have effort.

“He’s a really good guy. He’s not only the NFL face, but he’s the face of magazines, and people love him.” But it still doesn’t sidestep the fact that he plays for the National Football League. He plays football. He ties his shoe just like I tie my shoes to get ready for a game. He puts his mouthpiece in to keep all his teeth in, just like I do.

“I’m not talking any trash on him at all. He is the face of the NFL. But at the same time, he is a player. I just hope for a speedy recovery. I hope it’s not as bad as everybody is saying.”
