Brodie Croyle Injury Update
From RotoWorld:
Brodie Croyle (separated shoulder) “hopes” to be back in 2-3 weeks, according to FOXSports’ Jay Glazer.
Damon Huard will start in Week 2 against the Raiders. Oakland’s secondary is fantastic, but his insertion is good news for Tony Gonzalez and Dwayne Bowe (assuming Bowe remembers how to catch the ball next week). Since shoulder separations can recur, don’t expect Croyle to be back too soon.
I don’t know what to say here, except…
Carl Peterson, bark an order at your executive assistant to get on the horn with Chris Simms‘ agent. Fly Simms in, get him signed and get him integrated. Damon Huard is a monumental waste of time for a rebuilding team. Regardless, it looks like Brokie will be out for some time. Either Huard, someone new or Tyler Thigpen–GULP!–will start in his absence.
Your move, Chiefs. Please wake up and finally bring in a signal caller with a future. Puh-lease! We’re begging you. Well, at least I am.

ament to that brother wats the use to havin that rocket arm if he cant stay healthy i really dont think simms can be the answer but im sick of watchin happy feet huard we’ll have a top 5 draft pick next year lets get us a quaterback please stafford, tebow….someone!!!
September 7th, 2008 at 8:06 pmAdam: you and I are on board with taking a look at Simms. I am surprised he hasn’t been in yet, unless he has no interest in coming here.
September 7th, 2008 at 8:11 pmim on board in takin a look at him..hel anybody than happy feet huard and thiggy but he wasnt too impressive at tampa bay but u never know…hey lets get him in!!
September 7th, 2008 at 8:12 pmWell this Brady injury could backfire. They just said on SNF that the Patriots are bringing Simms in.
September 7th, 2008 at 8:13 pmNBC just reported that Simms will be in Boston tomorrow to work out for the Pats and take a physical. We may not have a shot at this point.
September 7th, 2008 at 8:13 pmgod…fuck more reasons to hate the patriots god i hate them so freakin much!!!
September 7th, 2008 at 8:16 pmLooks like Option B needs an Option B of its own. Andre’ Woodsen? Quinn Gray? I think a somewhat mobile David Garrard-ish QB would be a good fit for Chan.
September 7th, 2008 at 8:21 pmCrap… I just don’t know man… What’s Jeff George up to?
September 7th, 2008 at 8:24 pmWe had ample opportunity to go after Simms in the pre-season and Carl f’d up. I feel the same way about Chad Pennington. I just don’t get this guy (Carl Peterson).
September 7th, 2008 at 8:26 pmur not alone man none of us do!! haha
September 7th, 2008 at 8:28 pmYes Huard doesn’t have a future, but we can actually win some games with him..And I highl doubt we’re going to ge a top 5 draft pick anyways..Keep in mind with LJ last year we we’re 4 and 3.As long as we have him I think we’re anywhere from 6-10 to 9-7 at best..
When Brodie comes back, we need to take the diapers off him and unleash him..We know he can throw 3-10 yard passes..Lets move on and see if he can throw deep..
September 7th, 2008 at 8:35 pmSimms should want to come here. He has a legitimate chance to fight for a long term starting spot.
September 7th, 2008 at 8:38 pmVery true.
September 7th, 2008 at 8:42 pm9-7 still doesn’t get you into the playoffs…
September 7th, 2008 at 8:43 pmwtf is it with every1 on sims dick, andre woodsonis atill out there and he needs to be signed…by us
September 7th, 2008 at 8:45 pmThings are proceeding nicely, actually. We are on track for another 4 and 12 season. We really need one more good draft year to put together a solid threat. And, I absolutely think it would be a bad idea to take tebow or stafford in the 1st. Like I always said, we should take oher in the 1st if we can get ahold of him. The new crop of QB’s have nothing on Quinn or Brohm. I think we should finagle a plan to get ahold of one of them.
The other thing I liked was that soooo many draft picks and 2nd year guys are really stepping up. Turk and tank. Phat Albert, Dorsey, Flowers, Carr, Page, Polard. Did we really snag some lockdown corners? We really did put on an awesome showing against the patriots; contrary to what the pundits have been saying. If we got Oher and a Quinn/Brohm next year with a few other solid picks at Line Backer and O’ line positions…..we could be seriously dangerous.
September 7th, 2008 at 8:46 pmgood point but i think our tackls spot are good with LT albert and once macintosh is gone RT herb taylor we need a quaterback or a linebacker
September 7th, 2008 at 8:48 pmIf we draft Tim Tebow I will cry. I’m saying it right now, if we draft Tebow it will set back our rebuilding program two more years. I’ve said that the rebuilding project is a three year project (counting this year). That pick would push us to a five year rebuilding project.
September 7th, 2008 at 8:50 pmis it because he is more of a scrambler and doesnt hve the pro arm or he doesnt come from a pro style offense in college y are so many people skeptical of tebow?? im not sayin i like him but i never watched him
September 7th, 2008 at 8:52 pmI like Josh Freeman and Matt Stafford better. More prototypical, play in offenses that more closely resemble the NFL. The only way I want Freeman to leave is if he goes to the Chiefs.
September 7th, 2008 at 9:00 pmTebow does what he does well. But what he does just doesn’t translate to the NFL. IMHO
September 7th, 2008 at 9:07 pmHow about the quarterback out of ECU he looks really proficient. Also Matt Grothe from South Florida.
September 7th, 2008 at 9:35 pmHow about Pat White outta West Virginia
September 7th, 2008 at 10:41 pmSam Bradford or David Johnson of Tulsa
September 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pmIf Brodie can get protection and is allowed to throw deep once in a while, I’ll come right it out and say it right now, he needs to be and will be our franchise QB. Don’t tell me he’s not durable. I see in Brodie a kid that has the poise you want and who is tough as shit. He always comes back from injuries and I’m sure he will again. Tom Brady, on the other hand, is not durable.
Do we need another backup right now? Absolutely. Thankfully we already have a good one in Damon Huard. Thiglet, however, is not a good second option.
Worst case scenario – if Brodie has a career-ending injury – then we have no choice but to try and draft a Bradford, Freeman, or Stafford which basically means we’ll be, at best, 3 to 5 years away from contending. I don’t want to go there and anybody who honestly hopes we draft high for a QB next season should seriously have their head examined. Be careful what you ask for.
September 8th, 2008 at 8:56 amBrodie Croyle is durable? Tom Brady is not? That made my Monday. Lay off the jokes, DD.
Seriously. Brodie Croyle has gotten injured in three out of seven starts, while Tom Brady finally got bit by the injury bug after starting 128 consecutive games.
I love that D-Bowe has a noose around his neck, when Brodie is getting carried through the streets on a portable throne. Ridiculous. I know it is a new year, but there’s a term for that–selective amnesia.
Name me one thing that Brodie really did right yesterday? He looked OK, but Brokie can’t stay healthy. That’s the issue, and if we continue to roll with him our fate is tied to his fragile body.
September 8th, 2008 at 12:09 pmThigpen should start if Croyle can’t. Every snap Huard takes a starting QB for the 2008 Chiefs is a monumental waste of time.
September 8th, 2008 at 4:55 pm[...] Brody Croyle is hurt. Again. KC Fans want someone more durable. [...]
