A.A.D.Q.: Trade Damon To The Pats?
My old man (who will make his debut tomorrow night) and I had an interesting thought on the horn a few seconds ago. Damon Huard is a steady hand (especially behind a good line) who knows the Pats’ offense well. Why not ship Damon to the Patriots for a third- or fourth-rounder? The Chiefs will never do it, but we could keep Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen and bring in another free agent. It would be better for us long-term, and better for Damon now. I think the Pats would definitely be interested, but I don’t think we would do it.
Should we try and trade Damon Huard to the Pats while they are still desperate?

Interesting thought. I personally would trade Huard for a bag of footballs, but if we can get a draft pick it would be great. It would of been easier had croyle not got hurt AGAIN.
September 7th, 2008 at 10:49 pmi think the chiefs wont do it because they like a proven player with expierence behind brodie but im all for it!!
September 7th, 2008 at 10:53 pmAdam shefter is reporting that the chiefs, titans, and patriots all have contacted Chris Simms. KC is the only shot he would have of starting next year. Brady will be back and they have to much money in Vince Young.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pmbannyc9 – you beat me to posting about the Chiefs ans Simms.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:14 pmI’d be okay with trading Huard as long as we have a Simms type player signed. Huard gives the Pats a nice steady hand throughout the season – enough time for Brady to rehab.
Thanks for the update fellas–got a post up.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:23 pmTrade Huard? That’s crazy talking. Keep Huard, dump Thiglet, bring in Simms. That way we have two veteran backups. Hopefully Croyle is not out long.
September 8th, 2008 at 8:40 amI’d venture to say that no midseason trade takes place. The Pats won’t trade us a low pick for someone they could get for free after the Chiefs cut him at season’s end. I’d rather see the Chiefs go after a QB that actually has a spot somewhere…like Brady Quinn, even though it pains me to say it. LJ for Quinn?
September 8th, 2008 at 11:25 amI’d rather trade K. Smith for a guy like Quinn. Quinn is still unproven, Kolby’s shown he can ball.
September 8th, 2008 at 11:28 amHmm…interesting idea. If we could get a decent pick for Huard I say go for it. Throw Thiggy in on the deal too!
