Stray Arrows: Returner Ryan Moats?

I’ve always liked RB/RS Ryan Moats. Now that he has been cut by the Eagles, I’d like the Chiefs to take a long look at him. From ESPN:

Nothing stands out here, but on a personal note, I’m sad to see former Louisiana Tech star Ryan Moats’ career in Philly come to an end. I always thought he would make an outstanding punt returner (like Sproles in San Diego), but things didn’t work out.

Philly.com:

Once Moats gets over the high ankle sprain he suffered at the end of the Patriots’ preseason game, it will be interesting to see if someone takes a shot with the 2005 third-round pick. Moats has talent – remember when he carried 11 times for 114 yards against the Giants his rookie year? – but he was not a good fit for the West Coast offense, and he seemed to have a tendency toward calamitous mistakes, for which he did not always take full responsibility.

ESPN’s Cuts Update Blog can be found here.

Moats certainly does have talent, but with his injury issues and two similar players–Brian Westbrook and Lorenzo Booker–already on the roster, the Iggles decided to part ways with him. I think he is definitely worth a look. He’s also still just 25 years old.
