I agree that it is Croyle and DVD’s fault, however I think it’s a combination of a few things…

Croyle is looking to get the ball to Bowe first as he almost always should (unless the play call is to DVD), then Gonzo, or maybe even LJ to make a play on a catch n run. He is making the decision with (although what is already better than last year) limited protection, roll outs etc.. Even in a 2 receiver set DVD could be a 3rd or 4th option.

Let’s give him a chance in real time situations, give him and Brodie a time to gel a little and lets see. I think once they get in rythym and confidence in each other, we might see a different story.

With Bo on one side, Gonzo and LJ in the middle it’s hard not to put that speed on the other.

It has POTENTIAL to cause some matchup nightmares.. (double coverage, 8 in the box etc..), he just needs a breakout game!

CMF, I do not want to wait another six years for Brodie Croyle to game manage a Super Bowl for us. I appreciate the comparison and your patience. But there has to be some kind of time clock. If he doesn’t show improvement over the next 16 games, that’s a good sign that he never will.

Maine, no way he was targeted that many times. And if Webb would be a better No. 2, God have mercy on our souls.

I keep hearing most of the blame being put on DVD for bad routes, not getting open, etc…is anything ever Croyle’s fault with this fan base?

I keep consistent for DVD as I did for Brodie. Herm n the gang see something in practice (or maybe it’s what they don’t see from the other WR’s etc.), but I am going to trust thier judgement until I see otherwise IN GAMETIME SITUATIONS.

I do believe that Franklin might take over that spot once he is healthy and caught up, but only time will tell.

During the regular season, D-BO and Gonzo will constantly draw double teams. The double teams were few and far between in preseason facing some vanilla defenses (and them not playing much).

Give it some time and a few full games of them being double covered, and DVD being singled on the outside with that speed. Then I will judge.
