Rams @ Chiefs: Open Thread

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Gameday | COMMENTS: 68 Comments

Update: Rain has delayed the game. The new kickoff time is 7:05 PM CT.

To make a long story short, Zach is unavailable tonight (he will still be at work like lots of other people) and I’m the commish of a fantasy league that’s drafting. Because of that, we’re going to do an open thread for tonight’s Chiefs game instead of a live chat. Live chat will be back to kick off the regular season for the Patriots game. We’ll do live chats for every game we don’t attend as well. Out-of-towners can stream the game via this link, or listen to the Chiefs Radio Network.

Addicts, leave your thoughts during the game…

Hey look. Obama is now a Chiefs player.

  2. bannyc9 says:

You know, if a player like Andre Woodson gets cut; which he should, we should really look at picking him up and dropping thigpen. That would give us a rookie to develop.

  3. CurtMerzFan says:

Thiggy actually made several good passes from the pocket tonight – all short and/or screens… but still – he made plays from the pocket. Maybe he’s worth keeping after all…

  4. Adam says:

The box score is showing that Thiggy Smalls was 0-6?

  5. Rihavens says:

Its true Adam. Stick a fork in Thiggy. And Andre Woodson? I wanted us to draft him. We NEED to get him if he falls through. Seeing as I think Huard and Thigpen are on the chopping blocks. We really need to replace our 2nd string and 3rd string Qb’s… whoever is filling which role.

  6. bannyc9 says:

Right now the Giants have Manning, Wright as his backup, and David Carr as the 3rd stringer. They can’t keep Woodson. They will try and stick him on the practice squad. Might as well pick him up.

  7. xxxlp says:

Anything is better than Thigpen. Hell I might grab a helmet and rush out there. I could at least make a couple throws, jesus.

  8. mguilicutty says:

Just got home from the game. I was the guy by the rams tunnel in 114 who didn’t sit down all night after they announced the stupid no standing all game rule. The queer eye guys behind me left after the first quarter after multiple bitchings.

Flowers and Carr look awesome. I can’t wait to see these guys in the regular season and for many seasons to come. Kolby was damn good, Charles looked good too. Damn Sams for doing well, I was hoping he would put the nail in the coffin tonight. Sippio didn’t help himself much.

I was going to watch the game again when I got home but the dvr lost power at some point and didn’t recover, does anyone have the game for download?

  9. mguilicutty says:

Oh yes, I can’t forget Johnston, he was all over the place kicking some lamb ass wherever possible.

  10. CurtMerzFan says:

That’s odd because I specifically saw him complete a inside screen to the right over a dlineman. Must have been a penalty or something.

  11. Adam says:

    Sippio didn’t help himself much.

Pictures speak louder than words sometimes. Bobby 6, Haters 0.

  12. xxxlp says:

I’m recording it on the NFL Network at 2:00 A.M. Central time, if that helps. Can’t wait to see it. And I wanna see my boy Lokey, and how he did. I didn’t look at all the stats, I had to stop in disbelief as I saw Thigpen was 0′fer 6. F that. Dump his ass faster than the morning trash, and bring in someone, anyone. Chris Simms, try talking Montana out of retirement, freakin Daunte Culpepper, I don’t care, but we need someone.

  13. Adam says:

Thanks, xxxlp. Now that I have my Direct TV I can record the game, too. You are a life saver. Because of the delay, my draft, the big speech and the crappy streaming, I didn’t get a very good look at the game. Now I can re-watch it (at least the first half)!

  14. Adam says:

And let’s get Thiggy Smalls out of here, baby! I’ve been saying that for weeks, so it’s nice to finally have an echo.

  15. mguilicutty says:

I’m not hatin on Sippio, I love the guy. I need to watch some film, I was a bit inebriated during the game due to the hour and a half drinking period before the game. In fact, I didn’t even see him catch that ball, I’m pretty sure I was standing in line…

  16. xxxlp says:

Ahahaha. Nice. Aye, 1 catch for 11 yards ain’t exactly blowing away anyone stat-wise, but they used him intelligently and look what happens. Our offense than couldn’t get anything last week got 6 from Bobby. Was Barry starting at RT? If so, WOOT for him. He musta opened up some holes for all the running we did. I read we had like 205 total yards, and 157 of that was on the ground. I can imagine that, since it said Thiggy was 0/6. I can’t get over that. At least Alex Smith had a 2.8 passer rating.. Jesus.

  17. Adam says:

We only threw 12 passes for 48 yards, though, so that both Sipp and D-Bowe made very impressive catches in limited opportunities was a great sign after their disappointing trip back to the MIA. MIA in the MIA was what it was, but they both showed up despite very limited opportunities tonight.

  18. CurtMerzFan says:

I tell ya what else I noticed… McMahan (sp?) had a HELL of an open field tackle on ST. Brian Johnston was kickin some serious tail in the backfield too – he chased the QB out of the pocket several times and I think he had the sack of the night unassisted.

The guys really looked hell-bent for leather on both sides of the ball, and I still cannot get over how good the secondary looked. Even Nap Harris made a nice play on a running back… The Turk is gonna be sending a few guys out to other teams this year.
