Rams @ Chiefs: Open Thread

Update: Rain has delayed the game. The new kickoff time is 7:05 PM CT.
To make a long story short, Zach is unavailable tonight (he will still be at work like lots of other people) and I’m the commish of a fantasy league that’s drafting. Because of that, we’re going to do an open thread for tonight’s Chiefs game instead of a live chat. Live chat will be back to kick off the regular season for the Patriots game. We’ll do live chats for every game we don’t attend as well. Out-of-towners can stream the game via this link, or listen to the Chiefs Radio Network.
Addicts, leave your thoughts during the game…

WOWW!! anyone else heard that Chiefs have agreed to a deal for a sponcer for ArrowHead?
August 28th, 2008 at 5:36 pmNaming Rights**
August 28th, 2008 at 5:43 pmThey are still looking for one. It is my understanding that Arrowhead will still be part of the name as well. Not saying that makes it much better, but…
August 28th, 2008 at 5:56 pmdoes anybody know a thread i can watch the game??
August 28th, 2008 at 6:00 pmI gave a link in the post, but here it is again…

August 28th, 2008 at 6:20 pmNo problemo
August 28th, 2008 at 6:34 pmI agree, KCM. Can’t we just sit L.J.?
August 28th, 2008 at 6:34 pmIt wouldn’t surprise me honestly. And I have no doubt now that Albert won’t play.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:46 pmAwesome….keep raining I will be off work in time for the game now!
August 28th, 2008 at 6:49 pmHas the game started?
August 28th, 2008 at 6:56 pmNot quite.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:57 pmIronic the game starts later tonight after everything they tried to move it up
August 28th, 2008 at 7:07 pmI think CP created a weather front and is delaying the games in hopes that the Rams just leave and go home.
LETS see if it pays off!
August 28th, 2008 at 7:24 pmThe game is finally kicking off…
August 28th, 2008 at 7:30 pmany link for better stream
August 28th, 2008 at 7:31 pmSavage is in trouble.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:32 pmhey guys sorry I’m late…and another chiefs turnover…awesome
August 28th, 2008 at 7:33 pmTNT!
August 28th, 2008 at 7:35 pmHow about savage now?
August 28th, 2008 at 7:35 pmwhy does Herb Taylor wear actual glasses….why not pimp some Rec Specs
August 28th, 2008 at 7:38 pmI really like Smith.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:39 pmOuch. What happened to Price?
August 28th, 2008 at 7:42 pmI like Kolby Smith.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:43 pmWho is our best special teams gunner this year?
August 28th, 2008 at 7:46 pmAny better game streams?
August 28th, 2008 at 7:46 pmCarr should start week 1 if he keeps playing this well.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:49 pmDid BJ Sams make this team? Did Dantrelle Savage screw himself?
August 28th, 2008 at 7:52 pmIf sams would have kept breaking that run back to the middle of the field he might have been gone.I think he has also assured himself as being our returner already in the game
August 28th, 2008 at 7:52 pmI hope Carr starts.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:52 pmI love how him and Flowers both get their heads around. I’m crazy excited about those dudes. And Sams just finished Savage off I think.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:53 pmJamal Charles shows his speed.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:55 pmCharles is an absolute perfect change of pace back for our backfield
August 28th, 2008 at 7:56 pmHows this for a story, Johnson, Smith, Charles. 3 great backs in the backfield.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:56 pmI’ve said this before, but Charles’ balance is absurd.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:56 pmHe almost lost that ball though. He’s got to fix that.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:57 pmNevermind. I saw that wrong.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:58 pmTwo touchdowns for Smith!
August 28th, 2008 at 8:00 pmPretty sweet drive even if it is on the shitty lams backups
August 28th, 2008 at 8:01 pmPollard making his case to be a LB.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:09 pmFuck yeah Sippio.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:12 pmOops. Sorry Adam. I got excited there.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:13 pmKeep in mind its now our 2nd string vs their 2nd string.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:15 pmAdam, I know you’re a Jeff Webb hater, but homey is stepping it up on special teams tackles right now.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:16 pmThe team doctor jas a compound fracture. Poor guy.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:51 pmWhat is that about a compound fracture. Who? What happened?
August 28th, 2008 at 9:03 pmLord almighty guys! I’m glad I’m not the guy who has to make cuts this weekend!!
Our secondary is 9 or 10 guys deep and they ALL have game. Webb and Sippio are crackin… Jackie Battle is smokin hot…
gonna be a tough weekend for the coaches. GOOD! ;P
August 28th, 2008 at 9:03 pmThe doc broke both legs and is being rushed into the ER.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:10 pmthat’s a shame! Poor guy!
August 28th, 2008 at 9:15 pmHey look. Obama is now a Chiefs player.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:16 pmYou know, if a player like Andre Woodson gets cut; which he should, we should really look at picking him up and dropping thigpen. That would give us a rookie to develop.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:01 pmThiggy actually made several good passes from the pocket tonight – all short and/or screens… but still – he made plays from the pocket. Maybe he’s worth keeping after all…
August 28th, 2008 at 10:36 pmThe box score is showing that Thiggy Smalls was 0-6?
August 28th, 2008 at 10:38 pmIts true Adam. Stick a fork in Thiggy. And Andre Woodson? I wanted us to draft him. We NEED to get him if he falls through. Seeing as I think Huard and Thigpen are on the chopping blocks. We really need to replace our 2nd string and 3rd string Qb’s… whoever is filling which role.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:45 pmRight now the Giants have Manning, Wright as his backup, and David Carr as the 3rd stringer. They can’t keep Woodson. They will try and stick him on the practice squad. Might as well pick him up.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:53 pmAnything is better than Thigpen. Hell I might grab a helmet and rush out there. I could at least make a couple throws, jesus.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:07 amJust got home from the game. I was the guy by the rams tunnel in 114 who didn’t sit down all night after they announced the stupid no standing all game rule. The queer eye guys behind me left after the first quarter after multiple bitchings.
Flowers and Carr look awesome. I can’t wait to see these guys in the regular season and for many seasons to come. Kolby was damn good, Charles looked good too. Damn Sams for doing well, I was hoping he would put the nail in the coffin tonight. Sippio didn’t help himself much.
I was going to watch the game again when I got home but the dvr lost power at some point and didn’t recover, does anyone have the game for download?
August 29th, 2008 at 12:17 amOh yes, I can’t forget Johnston, he was all over the place kicking some lamb ass wherever possible.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:31 amThat’s odd because I specifically saw him complete a inside screen to the right over a dlineman. Must have been a penalty or something.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:38 amPictures speak louder than words sometimes. Bobby 6, Haters 0.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:52 amI’m recording it on the NFL Network at 2:00 A.M. Central time, if that helps. Can’t wait to see it. And I wanna see my boy Lokey, and how he did. I didn’t look at all the stats, I had to stop in disbelief as I saw Thigpen was 0′fer 6. F that. Dump his ass faster than the morning trash, and bring in someone, anyone. Chris Simms, try talking Montana out of retirement, freakin Daunte Culpepper, I don’t care, but we need someone.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:55 amThanks, xxxlp. Now that I have my Direct TV I can record the game, too. You are a life saver. Because of the delay, my draft, the big speech and the crappy streaming, I didn’t get a very good look at the game. Now I can re-watch it (at least the first half)!
August 29th, 2008 at 1:09 amAnd let’s get Thiggy Smalls out of here, baby! I’ve been saying that for weeks, so it’s nice to finally have an echo.
August 29th, 2008 at 1:10 amI’m not hatin on Sippio, I love the guy. I need to watch some film, I was a bit inebriated during the game due to the hour and a half drinking period before the game. In fact, I didn’t even see him catch that ball, I’m pretty sure I was standing in line…
August 29th, 2008 at 1:20 amAhahaha. Nice. Aye, 1 catch for 11 yards ain’t exactly blowing away anyone stat-wise, but they used him intelligently and look what happens. Our offense than couldn’t get anything last week got 6 from Bobby. Was Barry starting at RT? If so, WOOT for him. He musta opened up some holes for all the running we did. I read we had like 205 total yards, and 157 of that was on the ground. I can imagine that, since it said Thiggy was 0/6. I can’t get over that. At least Alex Smith had a 2.8 passer rating.. Jesus.
August 29th, 2008 at 1:29 amWe only threw 12 passes for 48 yards, though, so that both Sipp and D-Bowe made very impressive catches in limited opportunities was a great sign after their disappointing trip back to the MIA. MIA in the MIA was what it was, but they both showed up despite very limited opportunities tonight.
August 29th, 2008 at 2:40 amI tell ya what else I noticed… McMahan (sp?) had a HELL of an open field tackle on ST. Brian Johnston was kickin some serious tail in the backfield too – he chased the QB out of the pocket several times and I think he had the sack of the night unassisted.
The guys really looked hell-bent for leather on both sides of the ball, and I still cannot get over how good the secondary looked. Even Nap Harris made a nice play on a running back… The Turk is gonna be sending a few guys out to other teams this year.
