look guys the reason that some see webb as a teachers pet is because he went to college w/ herms son and that is why we drafted him. also sippio had the arena league record for tds. that shows the guy has SOME SKILLS

CMF, I agree with you on both accounts. I even stated that the two situations were different...

BUT I do think comparing You Know Who to Tom Brady or Peyton Manning is a tad bit ridiculous. And he did have the job handed to him last year (not my fault he lost it to a career back-up). That's all I'm gonna say on that one.

I dont think it's reasonable to lump Webb and Croyle in the same basket. They're clearly different cases and have responded to their opportunities in vastly different ways.

Croyle has put up number similar to Brady and Peyton (after six starts) in terms of passing yards and completion percentage. Also, it looks vastly improved this year in Chan's offense.

Webb has never been more than marginal at best, and has shown no great improvement this year over his past performances. To me, he's not even 2nd string material at all.

Also, DJ... Webb was on the same team as Herm's son and they were roommates in college, and they're still best friends. Webb has clearly been given status by Herm neither he nor his talent deserve. This is the one blemish on Herm's time in KC I find unforgiveable. It smacks of paternalism at it's very worst. If the guy could actually PLAY I could forgive Herm this weakness... but Webb will never be even a dependable contributor at any level. He needs to go, and in spite of how much I like Sippio... I dont care if he gets Webbs spot or not - it's more of a Webb needs to go thing than a webb OR sippio thing to me.

Turk McBride showed more promise to me in limited snaps last year (mainly in the preseason) than either You Know Who or Webb did despite getting way more snaps. Just my opinion. I haven't seen anything from either guy yet that makes me believe in them. I do, however, think that You Know Who deserves more time, while Webb does not. He might one day become a bonafide slot receiver, but I doubt even that. I've already been more impressed with Will Franklin and Mo Price than I ever have been with Webb.

As for Ryan and Simms (lol, the QBs, not Ryan Sims) and Beck and blah, blah, blah...I just wanted us to hedge our bet on You Know Who. Insurance. It worked out so well with the Browns and Chargers and their incumbent non-first-round starters that I thought it was the way we should have done things as well. Who knows? If Thiggy Smalls doesn't start passing better from the pocket, maybe we'll still bring somebody in.

So, there is no double standard whatsoever, bub :) I just call it like I see it. I don't base my beliefs around what Herm Edwards or Bob Gretz or Adam Teicher believes, I use my eyes to analyze. Right or wrong, that's the way I do things. And the first thing I said when I started this blog was that I was going to come out and say what I thought and not ride the fence. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong, but this blog is better off for it. I'm glad the other bloggers and our readers have followed suit, even if it means telling me to shove it. I love it! Chiefs Nation needed another outlet with some cojones besides Jabba the Whitlock.

You call throwing a second year guy behind the worst offensive line in the NFL, with a 4th string RB and no special teams support "a chance"?

Wow, glad you weren't the coach for either of the Mannings, Troy Aikman or John Elway. The Hall of Fame would be half empty if everyone was as critical of young QBs thrown into impossible situations as you.

Same goes for WRs that took longer than a year to develop. No one is suggesting Webb is going to ever be a #1 receiver. Hell, Herm and the coaches have never mentioned him as a candidate for the #2 WR. Before the draft they talked about Webb being a slot receiver (#3) but since they drafted Franklin, they've played him in the slot almost exclusively. Sure sounds like lots of favoritism going on there.

But this is the point. You're more willing to give guys who have never even played in the NFL a shot rather than let the guys we have get a chance to develop. So if Matt Ryan came in and lost 6 games in a row and had stats similar to Croyles playing under the circumstances he did, you would give up on him too? Hell, I thought Matt Ryan was the most overhyped QB in recent memory and I wouldn't have bailed on him like that.

You don't see how screwed up that thinking is? But I know you don't really feel that way. Only about certain players that you have chosen to dislike.

You have shown faith in Turk McBride, though he showed us absolutely nothing last year. So far it looks like that faith was well placed. So why did you choose to believe in Turk, but not Croyle or Webb or whoever else? The answer is simple. For some reason, you decided not to like them so no matter what they do, it wont be good enough and they will always be standing in the way of whoever your favorite underdog is.

You hold a double standard between the guys you like and the ones you don't. Sorry bub, the way you think is the very definition of hypocrisy.

<blockquote>Webb because they perceive favoritism by Herm at the expense of Sippio.</blockquote>

That is exactly what happened last year. I don't want it to happen again. Herm obviously favors Webb. I'm not saying he necessarily has it out for Sipp, but he does give Webb preferential treatment.

Get open and catch passes. First off, he was the third receiver. Kennison was out basically the whole year almost. Second, he only caught 28 passes, dropped at least 3-4, and had a huge gaffe at a crucial moment. I never saw him step up during crunch time, and his lone TD came during garbage time. I know Sippio could have at least managed all that given the same number of reps and targets.

You act like he was Wes Welker to Bowe's Randy Moss or something. Webb was garbage last year. A better compliment would have helped Bowe big time. C'mon, dude.

The bottom line is that like Parker, Webb has had his chance. It's now time for Maurice Price, Sipp, McMahan, Franklin, Darling to get theirs. My problem with Webb is much more about how I think he wouldn't even be on the team if it weren't for Herm, and much less about Sipp. But go ahead and think what you will.

D.J., the difference, which you and SBC <u>ALWAYS</u> fail to get is that Matt Ryan never had a shot with the Chiefs, and Sipp hasn't had a fair one (as far as I'm concerned, and I'm not the alone one by any means). Meanwhile, Jeff Webb and You Know Who have been babied and handed everything. There is a huge difference there, IMO. Your two were handed their arrowheads and still couldn't take them, my two never received a fair shot at earning them. Jeff Webb and You Know Who have been awful in their opportunities so far. It's hard to argue that.

Ignore me? SBC, lmao...I'm the one people ignore. OK...

As far as the vow of silence, I was sick of everybody getting their effin' panties in a bunch because I was honest about You Know Who. I just got sick of it. So, yes, I am being a smart ass, but I am also just trying to avoid the topic. People were defending _____________ like he was Joe Montana, Tom Brady and Jesus all rolled into one.

Righteous indignation? Hypocrisy? I'm just being honest, bub. I call it like I see it. If nobody else sees it that way, so be it. As I've told you before, I'm not a follower. And I always have a blast here. Even when something gets under my skin, I still enjoy myself. I'm just a passionate dude.

You guys obviously don't get the "earn your arrowhead" concept at all, and never will. To each their own. I think you two should partner up and start croyletowebb.com or something (couldn't resist breaking the vow there). You can both bag on me and talk about how it's going to be the greatest QB-WR duo since Montana and Rice until you're blue in the face.
