Oh I completely understand what you guys are saying; I'm just trying to be completely unbiased. I think our O-line is improved three-fold from last year, even with Adrian Jones and D-Mac on the right side. Once Albert comes back, it should be even better. That and mixed up playcalling, especially some trick plays, which we haven't seen in awhile, will give us another 5-10-15 minutes of ball control, which we got owned in last year. That gives our D fresher legs, and we should be much improved there over last year (assuming our LB's don't completely fall to crap.) I wouldn't be surprised if we manage to sneak into the playoffs, but if we do, I don't see us going far. I wouldn't mind it, but I ain't expecting it.

And if it's a choice between missing the playoffs by a one game, or missing it by five games, I'll choose the latter. I'd much rather have a higher pick, (and easier schedule) heading into next year, if we're going to miss the playoffs anyway this year.

I don't like seeing the Chiefs lose, period, but if it means in the long run we'll end up winning far more games (look at SD as an example, they were crap, got LT, linemen, solid defensive contributors, and turned that franchise around,) I'll gladly take that, as I'm in with the Chiefs for the long haul, not just a year or two.

I agree, alot of the games do come by a slight margin, however they lost by slight margin's in most of the games giving turnover ratios like 4:1 3:0 etc.. No LJ, no Line, and the previously mentioned OCoordinator gift job. Not being able to stop the run etc..

Most losses in the NFL DO come by a slight margin.. There aren't many games where the teams are blown out, compared to 17-14, 21-24, 28-21 etc games. We very well could be the Saints of a couple years ago, but realistically I'm looking at 6-7 W's with a ton of upside heading into '09.

I know most will think I am crazy, and I have kept it to myself for the most part.. but I think the chiefs could quite possibly make a wild card run this year.

Allow me to explain my reasoning..

With as horrible as we were last year, there were 4 games we lost by a total of 14 points (Colts, Raiders, Lions, Jets). The Bears game, a blocked field goal and a special teams play (Hester return for a TD) A Pass to Parker INT'd in the end zone etc.. Pakers we had the lead with 5 mins to go in the game. Denver the first game we had the lead at the half, and 4 turnovers. Loss to the Colts with 4 seconds left. Bolts 2nd game..tied at half, 4 turnovers again. Tennessee we are up 14-10 at half, 3 more turnovers kill us... and on and on.

With as bad as our OLine, play calling was, LJ out etc.. we were in almost every game and the majority of them were lost by mistakes, not being right out outplayed. WE lost the majority of them by giving them away.

We have an easier schedule this year, conference isnt near as fierce as it use to be, a much better and experienced coordinator, a better O Line, probably a better D Line, LJ.., better speed on the outside etc..

We are going to have mistakes with a young football team, but we are going to be in just about every single game we play this season. Question is, will we not turn the ball over and make stupid mistakes? 8-8 is easily in reach.. couple breaks 10-6.

I hope I can say I told you so!
