Relevant Factoid:
If you cut off the boothill of Missouri and gave it to Arkansas, it would raise the average IQ of both states by 10 points.

Talk about a great wedding gift! Season opener tickets! That's awesome, Arkansas Dave. Sorry about the Arkansas jokes, fellas. I grew up in Springfield after moving from K.C., so Arkansas jokes go with the territory :)

I lived in Arkansas for Dacus' entire college career. They were a fun team to watch, and I'm afraid we're going to get to know a few of their higher profile players all too well this year (RB McFadden, Oakland, and FB Peyton Hillis, Denver). Dacus was a great linebacker and has tremendous speed. One thing I've always liked about him is that he rarely missed tackles, and wraps up really well. I'm excited to see him play!

Woody,
I'm headed to the home opener. Got married Saturday and got a late gift from my best man, yesterday. Chiefs tickets. They're way up high, but I love the intensity of that stadium.

It'll be a lot easier to start rootin' against D-Mac with fellow Chief fans around as opposed to Non-KC-Fan-Arkansawyers.

There's no "heart" test at the combine. Maybe they should consider the Krumrie Drill?

Adam,

You know that's one of the best things about the NFL. I love how no matter where you were drafted or even if you were not drafted - if you show you can play - then you will play. Kimble Anders, Eric Hicks, Anthony Davis, Brian Waters (just to name a few) - all UDFA. You see guys like Ryan Sims who have all the measurables and they simply can't hack it in the NFL. Then you get a guy like Dantrell Savage and he has no measurables but hes got the "want to". Of course, we might be playing a lot of sleepers this year if players keep getting hurt LOL.

Maine, you are always up on the sleepers--especially at LB. Well played, sir.

Thanks for the recap. I look forward to seeing him in a game. If TG and Gunther can have such positive comments, I have optimism.

Back on the 14th I posted about Dacus based on what I had read about him and what Gunther had said about him. Here's a recap for those who missed it:

Gunther: “Wes Dacus started a little slow here, but in the last week and a half, he’s really stepped up. I saw him play as a sophomore at Arkansas and I always kind of liked him. We had a one one-on-one coverage drill the other day and Tony Gonzalez was standing behind me and he said ‘Damn’ when he watched Dacus. He said ‘Gun, he moves like a corner.’ He really has those kinds of skills. He can drop his hips and he’s really fast. He’s smart and tough.”

Now he ran a somewhat slow 40, which probably kept him from getting drafted, but it may have been just a bad day for him if Gun and Tony think he’s that quick. Probably just a special teamer this year, but who knows. His scouting report says he’s very heady, so maybe he can get in on D quickly.
