A.A.D.Q: How Many Fantasy Football Teams?

by Off-Topic/Other

Simple–how many fantasy football teams do you own? Personally, I usually do three or four. Three will probably be the magic number for me this year. The Austin A-Trains (seems like we relocate every year…lol) are my main team, and I’ve been in that league with my brother and the Old Chief for going on six years. That’s the team that matters. For some people, they all matter the same, but not me. The bragging rights in this league mean everything. I was it’s first champion, by the way (not that any of you care)…

woody, you are working with what you are given.. It's not like you get to choose the best players at every position, everyone is clawing for the best people possible, aka, LT, Peyton, Tommy B, and others. Letting the computer draft would be like taking a nap during the real draft and telling your personnel department to go with the latest mock draft's readings, to find out who to pick. That's less realistic than picking and choosing what talent you can find based on where you pick =/

And I'm with Adam on the rivalry thing. I don't particularly like rooting for LT, but if it comes down to me getting him, bet your sweet ass he's mine.

That's what I thought. Ask and you shall receive!!! Thanks Steven Jackson!

I agree...though as I stated before I think it is even more realistic to let it simulate a draft...also cuz I am kinda lazy...BUT, a true GM taking over a team is not going to be able to draft his full lineup...just work with what he is given...thats the way I look at it.

I had LT last year...but what won it for me was having both Derek Anderson and Braylon Edwards...

I try and stay away from Broncos, but my policy is that you have to separate the two. Your opponents aren't going to do that, so why handicap yourself? Plus, at least you can get something positive out of our bitter rivals doing well, should that happen.

I completely separate fantasy football and my fandom. I run my teams like a real GM, and don't let personal feelings hold me back from winning. To each their own, though.

I go with 1 high paying that is an auction that I have been in for over 13 years and 1 low pay that is 11 offense and 11 def. Ive been in this for around 8 years. I joined a dynasty this year with contracts and a salary caps. I really enjoy this one so far because of the strategy for this year and years to come.
Answer to Croyle Nono of my teams have him and on Oakland and Denver players. Very rarely do I have them unless they are backups. I do usually draft one Chief for someone to cheer for. I have Dorsey in my dynasty and Bowe in my other

Yeah I have a no Raiders policy. I have had a couple of Broncos over the years but try and avoid them too. Chargers are fine though - since we really don't have that bitter rivalry with them that we do with the other 2.

Simple Dave, don't draft them. I'm the guy that'll pass on LT with the first overall pick just because I can't stomach rooting for that monstrous sack of douche. Same reason I'll never buy a Vizio. Even with money in the pot and braggin rights on the line, I will not sacrifice principles.

I did one league. Larry Johnson's break-out season. I ended up winning but having to root for guys in the AFC west other than KC left a bad taste in my mouth. How do y'all cope with such an oxy-moronic view? If i could figure out how to do that I might try it again.

Addai was the farthest reach, I know it won't happen, I was just throwing out a few maybe's. To counter that, there's no way Steven Jackson will be there. With almost every team doing the running back by committee, he's one of the few guys to get almost every carry, plus the throws out of the backfield, if he's there, I got him. I'm just stuck in FFL Limbo with the 8 spot.

B.J. Penn.....

Good luck thinking you will get Addai. I pick fifth and I know I'm not getting Addai. You will be looking at Barber,Portis and maybe even Steven Jackson. If I had the 8th pick in my draft it would be Barber. When the 2nd round comes around depending on how many teams are in your league I would get Lj.

I usually get into about 6 or seven drafts. There is only one that matters. This is my 8th year in this league. My team name is the Blood Thirsty Oj's.
It's a 14 team league and we draft 18 players. It's pretty crazy and you have to know everyone. I'm picking up the backup's backup. The cost to get in is $150.00 with a first place finish you get around $900 and a trophy. This year I pick fifth....fuck I hate you Steven Jackson!!!!! Just do the damn deal will ya.

Just wondering who you guys would pick at #8. By most of the cheat sheets I've been looking at, some possibilities COULD be Gore, Portis, MBIII, maybe Manning or Addai. None of them blow me away, Gore has Martz as a coordinator, so they won't run much, Manning's availability is questionable, and the others don't jump out to me.

I'm with BJ and Maine on this one. I usually try to stick to one league and if I go for two, I try getting similar lineups where possible so that I don't have to hope for every player in the league to do well. I'm entering the second year of a keeper money league with all my old college buddies and that is the one I really follow.

i only have one also and this is my first time...and yes i did pick up croyle off waivers just in case he just has a break out year and manning is my other quaterback and when there bye week is here i gotta start croyle in his place so im crossing my fingers!!

GO CHIEFS!!!

@jester: Apparently someone would. My buddy took Croyle as the very last pick in our draft. He is a Chiefs fans so he is probably just 'hoping' more than anything.
I wouldn't mind that working out for him as long as that means the Chiefs do well.

(sorry I didn't see jester's comment until after I submitted the other)

I usually do 2-3 teams. One is already drafted and I have another draft set up the Sunday before the season starts. Still debating on the third league.

I usually have four teams and this year is no different. I am in two paying leagues with friends and that will be my main focus. Gotta get that money and braggign rights! I'm also playing in two unpaid leagues with co-workers and those leagues will get considerably less time and attention.

Here is an A.A.D.Q. for ya...Would anyone take Croyle as a QB (either starter or backup) on their fantasy team?

I am commish of a keeper league that's entering it's 7th year. In the past I played in another keeper and then usually 1 yearly league. But as B.J. said, multiple teams does water down the enjoyment some. So just one team this year.

I always go with just 1 team, multiple teams seems to water down the enjoyment. I will say that this feels like a crappy year as far as players go. Either you're going to go with the same guys, in the same order as every other season, or you've got to gamble on the younger guys and hope they pan out. Peyton's hurt, Brady's hurt, McNabb will get hurt, everyone's getting suspended, every team now runs running back by committee. I'm just saying this year is a hell of a toss-up.

I just have one...NFL.com team...sad, i guess...but last year was my first year and I won, so..yay I guess...

also I dont take part in the drafts, I just let it sim it and then work with whoever I end up with...seems more realistic to me...but I could understand why people think it is a cheap way to do it...or whatever...

Nfl.com accounts have a max of 3, so I usually have 2 accounts full (6), each year. I didn't do it last year, as all 6 of the leagues I joined (12-men apiece) had a combined total of 22 people who ACTUALLY drafted/changed their lineup etc. That's pathetic. I was pissed, so stopped checking mine as well. This year though, I want to whoop up on some peeps, let's get this show on the road!
