"So break out the bottle... bring on the crowd
ya got to tell funny storie,s turn the jukebox up loud
c'mon sit at my table, where the drinks are all free
come gather 'round people... because misery loves company"

For me, I would feel cheated or disloyal if I rooted for another team. That's just me, though.

How does casually liking one team, and bleeding Gold and Red, make us any 'less of a fan'? Will we not feel that same 'other-worldly' bliss when the Kansas City Chiefs take home the Lombardi Trophy for this first time in (depending upon how soon we get it) nearly half a century? Obviously we're not bandwagon fans, as we all have a profoundly deep knowledge of both the game in general, and our beloved Chiefs. I couldn't tell you the Titan's full starting lineup, although they're my second favorite team, but I could name the starters AND most of the backups on the Chiefs. Yup, agree to disagree.

There is no Olympic team, smart ass. That's what I meant, and I think it was rather obvious.

I don't think it's a personal attack either, I just think some of us take pride in being a die-hard fan of only one team. I also know that because of sticking with just one team, the joy I will feel when we finally do win a Super Bowl will be almost other worldly.

And I understand pulling for the Saints after Katrina, that is totally different. I wanted something good to happen to those fans, the people who suffered.

But giving the Patriots that label is a joke. The rest of NFL Nation hates those pricks. I was so pumped when they lost. I guess misery loves company.

I just like watching football. I don't have to have a team playing to enjoy the game. Shit, I've gone to random high school games before just to watch the game. I also have fantasy football to keep me invested in games as well, which is huge. I spend a lot of time yelling at my players :)

I think this is just agree-to-disagree territory.

Actually, Adam, you're wrong about there being no USA football team.

http://www.usafootball.com/articles/29-international/134-us-senior-national-team/521-usa-tops-japan-23-20-in-double-overtime-to-win-world-championship.php

I watched that game last year, actually. Go USA.

However, you know what I mean by "America's Team". A lot of people were even calling the Saints "America's team during their really good season a couple years ago, and in a way they sort of were for that one season.

"America's Team" is a team that America can get behind and relate to. "America's Team" draws fans o the sport, and they play like champions. It is a team that is a household name across the country. You can even say "America's Team" embodies the American spirit.

And, by the way, it really hurts me that you guys think I'm uncool for using the term. Ahem. Sorry, it was really hard to type that with a straight face.

I was pissed when the Patriots lost that fluke game to the Giants. The year before that, I got so excited when Devin Hester ran back the opening kickoff on the Colts that I ran out of the house I was in yelling and almost fell through the steps. The year before that, I enjoyed watching Ben Roethlisberger lead the Steelers to Super Bowl victory while I sat in a room full of bandwagon jumping Seahawk fans (Shaun Alexander played at Bama). Football is an emotional game, and I choose to enjoy that aspect of it as much as possible.

It's just a shame that some people refuse to let themselves feel any joy whatsoever at the victory of more than one team. What do you do when you're watching all this football? Sit solemnly in front of the TV, not caring at all what's happening in the game? Sounds pretty boring to me.

But see, I'm cool with that if that's the way you want to enjoy football. That's your choice. Why criticize me for mine?
