Wait, I just read the red print on this post. What do you mean two tight ends? Aren't you forgetting Michael Allen and Michael Merritt?

I think Jamaal Charles would make sense being used in a Reggie Bush sort of way, but someone asked Herm about it and he pretty much flat-out denied that they had plans for him like that.

So don't hold your breath.

I also think Charles will be used alot as a receiver, from say, a split back position. We could toss to either side, or dump pass to either side. Defenses wouldn't know where to go, especially with 3 men split out (Tony G. (almost has to be double covered,) D. Bowe (going to wreak havoc this year) and whoever else they feel is best. That formation alone will get us a ton of yards. I'd also like to see a bootleg from splitback, where Charles goes out and chips on a block, then gets past the guy, and subsequently gets a pass for 5-10 yards. I don't know why, but that play has been running in my head for awhile now. I envision it as a possible future staple of our offense; much like the screen was, when we had a great line, and Priestey.

I doubt we'll keep both Cox and Manderino. If anything they'll use Hoyte as the backup, if he's not starting at LB. Cox has shown (at least me) all he needs to show to be our next FB. 30 career rushes, 10 career receptions. He's a blocker. 'Nuff said.

I like Suzy's breakdown too - except I'd have Price in Webb's place if it were up to me... though I suspect she's got it right (Webb!! arrrgh!)

Donovan makes some good points but I think it's possible we keep only 2 TE's if we keep both Cox and Manderino at FB. Having FB's who can also catch & block & play in TE sets is a complete reversal for us... we usually doodit the other way around.
