On Deck: Our Madden 2009 Chiefs Preview

by Fanzone/Tailgating

Zach is beating up his thumbs right now, testing out the new Madden 2009 video game Chiefs-style. That being said, we are going to come out with our preview of the game, from a Chiefs’ POV, very soon. If you scooped the game and have any thoughts on it let us know, and we’ll incorporate your thoughts into our preview. Quite frankly, as someone who no longer has a game system, I’m jealous.

What do you think of the new Madden and how the Chiefs were portrayed? What system do you play on?

I think they need to do their homework. The rosters were all messed up. Richardson, Krob, Carr and Johnston weren't on the team.
LJs injury is at like 93... I thought that was funny.
I traded for Tony Richardson because Hoyte wasn't cuttin it. I also traded for Odell and that OL from CLE that was cut.

You could always tweak his ratings before you start a franchise, lol

Yeah I did a sim and we ended up 6-10 the first year and 5-11 the second year. I am not liking the new controls and layout for play calling. Usually you can change the controller to an older version game, but not with this one. Guess it takes some getting used to it. Larry is not even close to as explosive as we saw in Chicago. So I think they just totally dissed us at EA Sports. Someone needs to go kick their ass!

Surtain being an 89 is the joke of the century. Is that EA's tribute to George Carlin and Bernie Mac? Jeebus! How ridiculous. Try more like Jared's old number. Worthless old legs.

Lets just say that defending the pass and sacking the QB is very hard to do with the Chiefs.

I simmed ahead to see how we would do and ended up 3-13. Hey at least I got this first pick, lol.

Oh then Chad Johnson and TJ Housyourmamma were FAs

I don't get how the defense can be so poor, the only defender under a Flowers at 79. Surtain is 89, Page is 85, Pollard is 87, Hali is 86, Johnson and Edwards are 93's, No one on the D line is under 82. I don't really think the defense is too bad off. The offense has two great receivers, and Johnson still has a high rating, I think the team will be good in the right hands. I think they have more offensive weapons then other teams at the same level, all you really need to win is one decent receiver, a good tight end, and an above average running back on offense.

I am thinking about boycotting the game on the basis of this comment a friend of mine observed on the SI.com review of Madden 09:

"Not-So Mighty K.C.: The Dolphins are predictably bad, but if you want a team that you can roll up yards and achievement points against, pick on the Chiefs. If Madden 09 is any indication, this is going to be a loooong season in Kansas City because this team reeks worse than a jockstrap after two-a-days."

What else could we expect from a company based in the East Bay? F-ing D-bags. If I do get the game, I will make it my mission to find every Raiders fan online and destroy them. No mercy.

That does suck. I never got into playing sports games for PC, though. Only game consoles.

Bah - I didn't get the game because I can't; EA didn't release it for PC this year. So I'm stuck playing Madden 08 until next year, when they've promised to do Madden 2010 on PC.

...Pisses me off...

Another interesting ratings tidbit:

Both Sipp and Webb are 75s.

Let us know what you think, bryman.

I'm picking up my copy for Xbox 360 tonight after work. I'm pretty excited about the online leagues, it's gonna be a challenge trying to win against some of the major talent on the other teams. The Chiefs got beat up a bit, the worst rating in my opinion was the rating given to Brandon Carr, he's rated as 67 or something, which basically makes him worthless. I'm just hoping they get some wins to start some season so they get a ratings boost on the roster update.
