Who Is…Jason Parker?

by Chiefs

Jason Parker is a rookie defensive end out of Arizona who you might not even know is on the roster. Why should you get to know Parker? Because he apparently possesses great field speed, and that attribute could be at a premium considering our defensive ends are generally pretty slow now that Jaren Allen is wearing purple. Alfonso Boone and Turk McBride weren’t even defensive ends before coming to the Chiefs, and Tamba Hali isn’t exactly Dwight Freeney’s equal in the speed department. From Warpaint Illustrated:

I see something in defensive end Jason Parker. He’s not nearly as built as Turk McBride, or even Tamba Hali, but he might be the fastest of the Chiefs defensive ends. Today Parker was spotted working at left defensive end with some of KC’s starting defense, and to be frank, he dominated Barry Richardson, who couldn’t handle his quickness. Parker lacks ideal size, but he might have skills similar to Indy’s Robert Mathis.

I don’t have an opinion on Parker yet, but he’s definitely a guy to watch tomorrow night and throughout the preseason. He could very well end up as our speed rusher on obvious passing downs if he performs well during his August auditions. Or he could get cut. It’s hard to say right now.

A speed DE for obvious passing downs is needed, I don't see Boone or whoever the DT we are moving to DE being effective on obvious pass plays.

Hopefull this guy is our new R-Kal Truluck or better. R-Kal played on the Chiefs D when they were at their Vermeil worst but the guy was great on obvious passing plays.

Julius Peppers is another very fast DE. Same initials, too. 'JP'. Coincidence? Maybe Warpaint Illustrated is on to something.

If I'm going to see a game... it's going to be at Arrowhead. No way I miss out on a collective orgy of will with Chiefs fans in support of our guys. That being said, if it's not Denver... it's Tennessee.

I hate the faiders and the dolts too, but it's almost impossible not to feel sorry for the faiders... all those poor bastards forced to endure the last gasping eccenticitries of Al Davis... there's just no joy in hating them.

As to the dolts, my doctor has recommended that I not even watch those guys on TV as the stress on that much hate could stop my clock.
