Back to what’s important – unlike I think most people, last spring I was feeling that our LB situation was neither solid nor settled and probably our area of biggest concern (on defense) coming out of the draft. Right now, DJ playing Will is only the spot I feel good about. Donnie’s at that point in his career where you just never know and Williams is not a guy that ever really impressed me. For me, Nap is the biggest disappoint so far. Assuming Edwards can get/stay healthy then I imagine he’ll be alright at Sam so we’ll just have to wait and see about who ends up in the middle.

The quality of competition at Mike right now is of concern and bears watching but let’s not lose sight of the fact that we’re only about a week in right now so it’s a bit premature to be punching the panic button. The really great news is that Gun is all over the LBs, and not just the first teamers either.

Bottom line, I’m not as worried. Gun will figure out who his first teamers are and wouldn’t be all that surprised to see another new face added in the 3 to 4 weeks either. What’s more, I have full faith that he’ll coach all his guys up to a level that we’ve not seen around here in some time AND as a result, we’ll be blessed with much better depth at all 3 positions. It’s all good.
