No-Favre Zone

Posted by: Adam Best

It’s pretty clear that Brett Favre won’t end up a Chief, and why should he (well, besides the fact that he’s a great QB–most of the time)? After all, we already have a country boy with a big arm and questionable decision-making skills, and he’s about 15 years younger. Odds are that No. 4 will end up with Benny Sapp (for now), Jared Allen and the Vikings. Zach had a little fun with that notion in his latest image…

            BallHype: hype it up!

I damn near used Bama Ray or something else there, but Zach and I decided that his nickname will be on layaway, at least post-wise, until he wins his first game.

  2. 2. Double D Says:

. . . Lest he becomes Fraudway Bro?

  3. 3. SEANBCOOL Says:

Brett looks good as a Viking.

  4. 4. Zach Says:

I woke up this morning and just had to play around, lol

I would like to file a motion to never mention the F word on this site again. I cannot take hearing one more thing about him. Who gives a shit! He was amazing in the 90’s and early 00’s, then the last about 5-6 years he has become a shell of his old self. He has a comeback year last year, and now everyone in the media is ready to let him have sex with their wives, and put his muddy boots on their couches, they just love him so much, they would overlook anything. I want him to break his leg, and then really retire, so we don’t have to go through this BS every year. Brett, you used to be one of my favorites, but I’m tired of you, just go quietly after this year, you’re tarnishing your legacy.

  6. 6. SEANBCOOL Says:

Well a lot of us still love and respect Brett Favre and want to hear about him. So motion denied, because I’ll keep mentioning him if I feel like it. Get over yourself and just don’t read the article if it upsets you so much.

Here’s the problem SEANBCOOL, what am I supposed to read that doesn’t have Favre somewhere mentioned, If I go to the main page of any sports site, he will be there. If I go to a site dedicated to the Chiefs, he will be there, if I turn on ESPN, Fox, NFL Network, or any type of show, listen to the radio, read the paper, I have to hear about how his every move. I think it’s easier to find an article about Favre’s current saga than to find porn on the internet at this point. There are plenty of stories going into the season, why are the resources of journalists wasted on one man? I don’t read any of the articles, I just see his name mentioned in headlines everywhere. I get it SEANBCOOL, he’s a hall of famer, everyone loves him for whatever reason, but at this point in his career, he gets a free pass from the media. What is there left to say that requires article after article, it’s just frickin’ lazy, mail it in journalism. Mail in the same story from the last two years, just change the date, and few minor details. I just don’t find any of this current saga even remotely interesting. At this point in his career, he’s not even in the top 5 best qb’s in the league. He’s probably killed his team more times than he’s helped it with his reckless play. He doesn’t even play for the Chiefs for Christ’s sake!

  8. 8. thebryman Says:

BTW SEANBCOOL, guess who is the top story on ESPN right now. When I open the page, do I have to close my eyes and navigate blind, hoping to click something so I don’t have to see his face?

“I think it’s easier to find an article about Favre’s current saga than to find porn on the internet at this point.”

    LMAO!

  10. 10. Double D Says:

Great posts Bryman – you’re funny as shit today!

  11. 11. SEANBCOOL Says:

Well more people care than don’t care, obviously. That means that you’re in the minority. So my advice would be to suck it up. If it really upsets you that badly just to see the name of a future first-ballot HOFer on a sports site, then I’d also suggest counseling.

People want to know what’s up with the unresolved Brett Favre situation. That’s why it’s popular news. I don’t like Ladainian Tomlinson — I think he’s a crybaby — but I don’t get pissed every time I see a story on him.

I’m not trying to be rude, I’m just saying I don’t really see the problem here.

  12. 12. thebryman Says:

How do you know that more people care than don’t? Hell, a lot of Packers fan don’t want him back. If you’re not a Green Bay or Favre fan, what interest should this really hold? They cover the Yankees and Red Sox relentlessly on ESPN, do they have more combined fans than the rest of the teams in baseball? I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that whatever your opinion is of Favre, this whole unretirement mess has tarnished his image a bit. I can’t wait for the circus at the end of this year, when for the third year in a row we get to see all his career highlights, get the will he or won’t he retire discussions, talk about what a great man and warrior he is, talk about whether he has anything left in his tank, and see fans beg for him to keep this sad act going another year.

  13. 13. SEANBCOOL Says:

Did Brett Favre rape your dog or something?

  14. 14. Adam Says:

No, that would have been Charles Haley :)

God, I can’t get enough o that story. What a freak.

  15. 15. SEANBCOOL Says:

No lie, that really creeps me out.

  16. 16. thebryman Says:

If you substitute Favre for someone like TO, they would be absolutely vilified and torn apart for doing the things he is doing right now. He has made it about himself by turning the Packers offseason, and now training camp into an absolute circus. Go look at the article on Lombardi Ave, fans are chanting “we want Brett” while Aaron Rodgers is under center. If Favre really cared about the team and the city that idolized him, this whole fiasco would not have happened. No one can convince me otherwise. I haven’t even mentioned the fact that they have phone records of him talking to the Vikings, a direct rival of his team and city, or that he mulled taking $20 mil to stay retired, which is ludicrous, if he really loves the game. No SEANBCOOL, Favre did not rape my dog, I just wish people would quit worshipping him like he’s a god. I’m just calling his absolute BS in this situation, and pointing out all the people that are feeding the frenzy by blindly worshipping. At least with TO, there is no illusion as to what he stands for.

  17. 17. thebryman Says:

I will never talk about him again from this day forward! I had to get a weight off my shoulders. New topic for me.

  18. 18. randy5k Says:

Not sure if anyone was at the GB Chiefs game but I thought we had it won, and made sure the GB fans in front of me knew it. They just would smile and say “just watch”.

Two incredible pass completions and I , as well as the rest of the arrowheads in the place didnt have much to say.

  19. 19. SEANBCOOL Says:

It’s not Brett Favre’s fault that fans were chanting his name at training camp. He stayed away. Jeeze, just blame everything on the guy. As for the phone records, he has friends on the Vikings coaching staff. He can’t talk to his friends?

And so what if he has second thoughts about retiring? He’s only the best quarterback in the history of football.

  20. 20. randy5k Says:

I have to think back to the last fights of Ali and Joe Louis, and the clips of Namath and Unitas as Rams.

  21. 21. xxxlp Says:

I’m usually with ya on just about everything Sean (at least recently) but I’m quite sick of hearing about Brett too. This whole offseason was nothing but Brett. There was TV shows documenting his life. There were highlight shows. There were countless angles of every aspect of his life broadcast for all to see, over and over again. And again. And then one time for anyone who missed it. And then once more for good measure. The NFL/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNespanola/ESPNocho(for you Dodgeball fans)/Any random news channel that was worth a damn/many that weren’t, networks, had headline news covering Brett Favre.

Yes, the man deserves props. Yes, the man also deserves a kick in the nuts for MAKING this mess himself. He shouldn’t have a made a hasty decision so close to the end of the season after a back-breaking loss in which he cost them the game. He was tired and mentally fatigued, and needed rest. He could have said I’m going to WAIT to announce, but no… HE RETIRED. It IS his fault that he’s been all over the headlines.

And it’s rather annoying. Literally.. Turn on NFL access, and I’ll bet you any amount of money you can afford that a full 3/5ths of their program is mentioning Brett in some way, shape or form. A bit of rookie hype thrown in there, a bit of talking about the Patsies, or Chad Johnson back in camp, even Steve Smith breaking Lucas’s nose, and then straight-away back to Favre. Favre, Favre, Favre. I too, wish it would end, so we’d have peace.
