Oakland really is a black hole. It's a black hole of talent. Talented players get sucked there by Al Davis's money and Oakland somehow collapses their very being, and their ability to produce in the NFL.

It happened to Randy Moss, and it's happening to Javon Walker. I can't even understand who would choose to play for such a putrid organization.

Yeah, but hell, I'd still take Willie Roaf (even a fatter, less athletic, older and slower Willie) over any RT we have on our roster at the moment. I'd beg him to stay until my face turned blue, and then I'd write messages on a notebook for him to stay until I caught my breath again. Some guys are just a notch above everyone else. And since Randy Moss flopped in Oakland, and Porter flew the coop (after they lost Doug Gabriel as well) they are hurting for WR's. Javon is far better (even down and going through a rough stretch) than anyone else on the roster. And I even like Curry, but damn. Javon > Curry any day.

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense to beg a player set on retiring to stay. You KNOW you won't get full effort out of the guy.

Denver and Oakland are a mess this year. The Red and Gold may not make the playoffs this year, but I am proud to know we are heading somewhere without turmoil ...

There is no quicker way to get in my good graces than G-Wes bashing. Well, maybe Sammie Parker bashing.

Aw, are someone's feelings hurt? Put him up against GWes for a few plays. That ought to get the confidence back up.

I think the Raiders are banking on him just going through a rough patch, hoping he can return to his dominating form of old. There was a time where Javon was downright unstoppable. But he has some issues, that's all I'll say.

This is quality stuff...Unlike taking joy in the injury of others, this type of news is the kind of thing I could here about rival teams everyday. If only Merriman could take a cue from Walker (perhaps guilt over the lives he ruined while breaking the rules).

On a serious note, this seems to be a really bad move by both sides. My question: why would Oakland want to keep someone on the roster that does not want to be there, especially when you already know, right out of the gates, that you are not going to get your money's worth out of the player. Heck, they could have given that money to Asomugha (sp?) and kept him on the roster next year. Instead, you will have a player on the field with one foot in retirement. We Chiefs fans know what that is like (see: the entire right side of our offensive line last year -- those guys were talking retirement by week 9 -- @#$!ers!). It can also be very dangerous from the point of view of injuries. I don't like Javon, but I don't want to see him leave the NFL the wrong way (especially after all of the close brushes with leaving the wrong way he has already had in the las couple of years).
