Chiefs Fix: TGIF…The Preseason Is Almost Here
Here’s a few Chiefs/AFC West links I’ve found this afternoon…
- Head on over to NFL.com and vote for Derrick Thomas! He’s listed as their No. 2 player on a top ten list of best players not in the Hall of Fame. – NFL.com
- Speaking of the Hall, the Boys from Bristol profile soon-to-be HOFer Emmitt Thomas. – ESPN
- Peter Schrager thinks our beloved Red and Gold could end up 0-16. Ouch. 0-and-freakin’-16? C’mon, now. – Fox Sports
- Are you scared to death of Darren McFadden yet? You should be. I definitely am. – AFC West Blog
- As always, be sure to make our good friends over at A.P. part of your daily routine. Those guys are doing a great job of following training camp. – Arrowhead Pride
- A lengthy article on Brodie Croyle and the Chiefs from his old ‘Bama stomping grounds. – Tuscaloosa.com
- More on Jared Allen’s River Falls scrimmage absence. Was he too busy working on that lumberjack beard? Rubbing Bryant McKinnie’s back (Dan over there has this ongoing homoerotic Jared-McKinnie joke that’s pretty funny)? – The Viking Age
- A good look at Pat Thomas (what is this, Thomas day?) and the linebacker situation. – Home of the Chiefs
- And shameless self-promotion. If you enjoy bagging on bad movies and the Brett Favre drama, go check it out. – Fan-Sided Blogs
We’ll likely be back later in the day with more Chiefs ramblings and updates…

Scared of DMC? Shit, we’ll just go Auburn on his ass . .
August 1st, 2008 at 1:10 pmGood links. They made for some great Friday afternoon reading. A couple of notes:
1. 0-16? Really? No one has done that since the Bucs in ‘76 and now this moron thinks that 3 teams could do it in one season? No way. Most certainly not the Chiefs. We’ve got both Miami and Atlanta on the schedule this year. Combine that with playing the Donks and ChOakland twice (each!) and surely there will be a win in there somewhere.
2. McFadden will have one good preseason game and then his ego will come back. The kid has got skills but his ego is his downfall. If he can keep it in check he’ll be scary but that is tough to do when you’re making big paydays like he is.
August 1st, 2008 at 1:59 pmFWIW, the Chiefs have posted an “Unofficial Depth Chart.” http://www.kcchiefs.com/depth_chart/
There’s at least 1 suprising/interesting first teamer – Manderino at FB. I think it’s the first time this preseason that I’ve even heard that name mentioned in reference to that position.
August 1st, 2008 at 2:44 pm- Yeah, I’m scared of McFadden too. I have been since he was drafted. Combining him with Fargas and possibly Bush is a scary though. Hope our defense is improved.
- 0-16 is complete bullshit. I don’t know how anyone can predict that from a team with Larry Johnson, Tony Gonzalez, and Dwayne Bowe on the same offense. Not to mention that it’s a better team than last year’s, which won 4 games. This guy is just an idiot.
I’ll be back later. Don’t have time to read as much of this as I want to.
August 1st, 2008 at 2:58 pmI have to say this in Schrager’s defense about the article. It was speculation of which teams had the best shot of going winless, but if you read his section on KC he says that he predicts the team to go 4-12, which is not out of line with popular opinion. In fact, he doesn’t predict one of the three possible bottom feeders as 0-16. He gave Atlanta and Miami 2 wins each. I’m not saying I agree with the article, but he doesn’t predict any of the three teams will really go 0-16, it’s just his opener for the column on the three supposed bottom teams in the league. Basically, he throws the notion out there, but doesn’t have the stones to say any team will be winless, which no sane writer would ever do, it’s like predicting a team going unbeaten, it doesn’t happen too often, last time I checked. So basically it’s a bit of a sloppy column.
August 1st, 2008 at 3:37 pmon the subject of the depth chart, the one suprise that i saw was Battle at #2 RB WOW what about smith at 3 and charles at 4 what the hell?
August 1st, 2008 at 4:38 pmCharles has got to stay on his feet, plus he’s going to have to learn how to pick up pass protection. He’ll move up quickly. This is temporary, I’m sure.
August 1st, 2008 at 5:06 pmbut battle over smith? on the verge of shocking to me
August 1st, 2008 at 5:12 pmCharles is going to be a better player than Smith. I have no doubt in my mind about that. But given the way Kolby played last year, yes, it’s a bit shocking.
August 1st, 2008 at 5:19 pmTOTALLY AGREE on the charles/ smith comparison,
August 1st, 2008 at 5:32 pmalso went to the link from UWRF and read herm say albert is more out than for da bears SUCKS!!!!!!
