And it's real hard for me to believe that he's a starting center, no easy position, one minute, and the next only one team has interest in him, even as a back-up. Excuse my French, but that's a bunch of bullshit :)

Nothing wrong with calling someone an apologist. We weren't belittling him, just disagreeing. Not personal at all, just about football. We appreciate his POV, but he got way too serious about us having a little fun with Casey going over to the Darkside. Chiefzilla knows his Chiefs, no doubting that, but we just felt he was a little too protective of a Bronco.

Hmm, I doubt he's going to be doing much winning. A nice snippet I found about the Broncos, and happened to like very, very much is this:

The Broncos had 28 draft picks from 2002-04. Selections from those drafts should be the backbone of a contending team – players in their fourth (2004), fifth (2003) and sixth (2002) NFL seasons. But the Broncos only have one player left from those three draft classes – linebacker D.J. Williams, a first-rounder in 2004.

They've had even rougher draft-days than we have, and I think it's safe to say, we pwned them in this years' draft as well. I think we'll be riding on the Donkeys for a long, long time. Sorry Casey ol' buddy ol' pal. You picked the wrong team at the wrong time.

Guys come on. Please don't attack chiefzilla for his opinions. That's all I'm gonna say about that. He has a very valid point and expressed it well. He never did anything to warrant being called an "apologist" for the "enemy".

Casey Weigmann was a fantastic center for the Chiefs, and I respect for his time and hard work here. It's weird to me that he seems to be looking forward to beating his old team so much; but, then again, we didn't really get the full context of the interview.

Just cool it on the whole belittling someone else's point of view thing. That's all I'm saying.

Wow didn't know we were Broncos apologists now.

Listen I still love Tony Richardson, Trent Green, Dante Hall and a bunch more former active Chiefs, but when you put on the Silver & Black or the Blue & Prison Orange I can't like you again until you retire, Sorry.

Chiefzilla,

We never called him a jerk. We just said that he gave us a little bulletin board material. What are you, president of the Casey Wiegmann apologists? The guy was a pedestrian player who looked good because he played next to Shields and Waters, nothing more. In fact, we saw that without Shields he was exposed as undersized. No hard feelings, but there's no reason to be all up on his jock.

And if you put on that orange and navy I will never feel the same about you. That goes for Dale Carter, Neil Smith, Tony Gonzalez (who would never do that), Jesus H. or anybody else. It's like gang warfare--I'm not down with those colors. Or the silver and black.

I've also always felt that Wiegmann went to Denver to try and stick it to us. Don't tell me there wasn't at least one other team out of 30 interested. I can't believe that. Won't.

Adam, I don't think it even qualifies as smack talk either. I guarantee that someone asked him if he was looking forward to facing the Chiefs and beating them, or something like that. There is absolutely, positively no reason why Wiegmann would give any indication that he wanted the Chiefs to win. It doesn't sound like he was ranting. I think he was asked a question and probably answered as 99% of other players would answer the question. I actually think he answered it with class--it sounded pretty clear to me that he knows he's on a different team, but he doesn't begrudge the Chiefs. How bad of an impression would that leave on Denver's front office and players if Wiegmann acted like he wanted KC to win those games?

I don't begrudge the guy. He gave great service to the Chiefs. The choice for him to leave KC was not Casey's, it was KC's. And it sounds like Denver was the only team really biting, so I don't blame him for going to a division rival either.

We have to face the reality that few players who make their mark as Chiefs will finish their careers as Chiefs. And that means that for 1 or 2 times during the season, that player plays for the enemy. And that as a player for the enemy's team, there is zero incentive for him to root for any other team than his own. If we're not careful, we'll hate every player that leaves the Chiefs, and that's a shame, because a guy like KC has done more than enough in KC and the community to earn the right not to be called a jerk for making harmless comments like this.
