A.A.D.Q.: Back In Black?

We were discussing the possibility of the Chiefs introducing a black alternate jersey the other day, and it’s a tough call. I say if it’s only once a year, yeah, go for it. I like the Giants‘ (red) and Bears‘ (orange) alternate jerseys, and both of those teams are older than the Chiefs for all the purists out there. It would give a shiny new look to our youth infusion.
Do you want the Chiefs to add an alternate black jersey to wear periodically, like the one the team sells at its gift shop? One game a year? More often? Or are you a purist who says NEVER?

I am okay with alternate jerseys for one game, but please not the black ones. Those look hideous. Maybe the gold?
July 25th, 2008 at 12:35 amI totally made this topic up.
I would love for the Chiefs to wear black jerseys like these for a game or two. They could even couple them with black pants if they wanted.
Other teams that do the “black-out”: Jacksonville Jaguars and Georgia Bulldogs. And both teams look fantastic when they do it. It’s really sharp.
July 25th, 2008 at 12:44 amAlso, the Eagles have black jerseys they wear sometimes, but I’ve never seen them go for the total “black-out”.
July 25th, 2008 at 12:44 amMizzou does the blackout look. I don’t know about that, though. That’s kind of the Jaguars’ thing. As for gold alternates, I’d have to see those. What pro or NCAA team even has a yellowish-gold football jersey? It would be kind of cool to have something be our thing, wouldn’t it?
Might have to have one of you Madden guys design those
July 25th, 2008 at 1:10 amActually, if they could wear the black pants also, I suppose that would look pretty cool … I wish we had some cool throwback uniforms. I like Washington’s throwbacks a lot …
July 25th, 2008 at 1:28 amYeah but our old uniforms look stupid. No gold = lame.
Adam: Georgia Tech occasionally sports gold jerseys. So do the Saints, I believe. And it looks AWESOME. But it’s real gold, not our yellow-gold.
July 25th, 2008 at 3:52 ami dont like them tht much ill tell yall wat looks the best: the white on white and the red helmet i wish they would changet there away uniforms to that for good they look so nice like wat they wore against the bengals opening day of 06 and the playoff game against the colts!! (sorry for mentioning that game!)
July 25th, 2008 at 6:57 amI like the idea of us dressing in black for a game or 2. I definitely dig it. I own the black jersey and would love to see them sport it.
July 25th, 2008 at 7:25 amNFL Network’s Adam Schefter reports that the New York Jets have signed defensive end/linebacker Vernon Gholston according to Schefter. Gholston, the sixth overall pick from Ohio State, reportedly signed a $50-million deal that includes $21 million guaranteed (source NFL.com) maybe with gholston signed maybe carl and dorsey agent could try and hammer something out in the next day or two…unless they still wanna wait for picks 7 and 8
July 25th, 2008 at 7:35 amI love the look of the black jersey and on my madden game I have them sporting it at home. It looks rather intimidating in that sea of red at Arrowhead. Not sure about the black pants though. I will have to play with that on my Madden to see what it looks like.
July 25th, 2008 at 7:49 amWhy aren’t my comments posting?
July 25th, 2008 at 8:39 amI’ll try this again without the link.
NOLA.com is reporting that the #7 pick, DT Sedrick Ellis will be a hold-out – perhaps for most of the pre-season.
Expectations will now have to be tempered with Ellis officially engaged in a holdout … and it’s a holdout that Saints beat writer Mike Triplett doesn’t see ending anytime soon. The guess here is that he’ll sign sometime before the regular season, as most draft picks do, but how soon may ultimately decide the team’s defensive fate in 2008.
Not a good sign for our hopes of getting Dorsey signed quickly.
July 25th, 2008 at 8:42 amdamn man!! that sucks so bad dorsey needs to tell his agent to get his contract done
July 25th, 2008 at 8:48 amThe hang up with remaining 1st rounders apparently has to do with the “drop off” in guaranteed money that DMC agreed to. Agents for the remaining top picks reportedly do not want to see the trend continue and are reluctant to make the first move for fear that they’ll be embarrassed by the guy that signs after their guy does. In other words, it’s all about the agent’s egos, reputations, and who blinks first. The Gholston deal should help but right now it’s looking pretty fucked up.
My guess is that Segal is unwilling to go below 25 mill.
July 25th, 2008 at 9:01 amI hate this idea. I would prefer we went back to the all white uniforms. I don’t like a white jersey with red pants.
July 25th, 2008 at 9:50 amme either the white on white looks great on my madden thats my away uniforms!!
July 25th, 2008 at 9:57 amNO BLACK!!!! The Raiders wear black, we dont need to wear those colors. Plus I think they are ugly
No to Yellow-gold as well because I dont want to look like Iowa St.
July 25th, 2008 at 10:01 amI think more yellow gold on the pants could look good – like maybe a thick gold stripe trimmed in red?
July 25th, 2008 at 10:15 amAm I the only one that actually likes the white jerseys on red pants for away games? White-on-white always makes me feel weird when we do it.
July 25th, 2008 at 2:28 pmI’m not sure about the black jersey.
I absolutely HATE the white jersey/white pants. Awful. I think the current uniform is pretty sharp.
July 26th, 2008 at 5:15 pmI’m actually not a fan of the white on white either. I do agree with Zach about the Raiders wearing black, and have stated so before. That’s why gold might be the best bet. Honestly, gold is pretty cool when done correctly. As a Pacers fan, the gold alternates are my favorite jersey…

I think the Chiefs could pull off something cool and unique with the gold.
