Many Chiefs fans, including myself, are going to miss the always-entertaining Boomer Grigsby. He has been working hard this off-season so he can continue his dreams of being an NFL player and giving back to his roots. He is hosted his third annual golf tournament yesterday to raise money for three different children’s charities in central Illinois.
“I really enjoy coming home for the golf outing, meeting everyone and we just always really have a good time. We’ve had Chiefs fans play every year so I’m hoping this year we can get both the Dolphins fans and the Chiefs fans out to help us raise even more money to help even more kids.”
Boomer signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins, when he had better deals on the table. Now he must prove to the Dolphins and head coach Tony Sparano that he deserves a spot on the team. But that doesn’t mean he still can’t be a walking quote off the field. Here are some of his most recent ones…
On mini-camps:
“It was very important for me in the mini-camps,” noted Grigsby. “Even though I am a fourth-year player, I had to earn respect all over. My real respect though will come in August.”
On his head coach:
“Coach Sparano (Tony) was an offensive line coach in Dallas,” said Grigsby of the new Dolphins head coach. “He likes to play smashmouth football. There will be a lot of hurting going on.”
On Bill Parcells:
“It’s his blueprint on everything,” said Grigsby. “He has brought in the type of players who want to win. He goes so far to even come into the weightroom and watch us lift.”
On the difference between the Chiefs’ and Dolphins’ playbooks:
“Our playbook isn’t as thick as in Kansas City, but I think it’s more efficient.”
