Just wanted to update everybody on a technical change. We are going back to having everybody register and log-in to make comments. There is easy access to this on the top of the right sidebar, and you can stay logged in if you prefer.
Why are we going back to this? Mostly because we have such a good group of consistent, knowledgeable, passionate commenters that we want to feature, not dilute with garbage. Let me explain.
We have spammers and trolls that aren’t regular readers subtracting from our comments section with their comments. We hate to see this, because the comments our regular readers leave on a frequent basis are easily one of the strengths of the site. This is an attempt to do a better job moderating the comment threads, which will give more weight to those of you who chime in with A-grade stuff. Why should some douchebag troll have the same voice as Double D or xxxlp or SeanBCool, readers who constantly bring it with their comments? It will also make it easier for us to read the threads and use comments as inspirations for posts (you’ll see an example later today). We are also trying to keep the threads more positive and more focused on football (when they aren’t off-topic, i.e. Javon Walker or Kevin Costner being a Chiefs fan).
Thanks for understanding, and we think this will be an improvement after everybody gets used to it.

(I just wanted to add that since AA has been running we have blocked over 40,000 spam messages. – Zach)
