I really hope we can get Lecahlres Bentley that way we don’t have Adrian Jones starting at RG and we can put the up and coming Niswanger there and the right side won’t be so bad according to some people *walter football* we rerally need another lineman and BEntley fits the bill, a young center who could come cheap for the first year or two

  2. 2. Crane Says:

Yeah, my take is they released him because of money…they had moved on. I just wonder if his injuries make him too risky?

  3. 3. Double D Says:

Walter’s assessment seems pretty harsh. Although I agree with most of the concerns he voices, I think he is grossly under-rating our defense.

For one thing, he completely whiffs on the fact that Hali is being moved over to RE, not staying at LE. Hali has proven himself as a competent, dependable pass-rusher and equally as a runstopper – he had the second highest # of sacks last year even though he was being reqularly double-teamed at LE. I totally can see his sack count going up by at least 2-3 with move to RE.

Dorsey was drafted as an impact player and I expect him to justify, sooner rather than later, why he ranked near the top of just about everyone’s boards. What’s more, I’m convinced he will benefit hugely under Krumrie’s tutelage and Gun’s schemes. LSU’s style of D is way more conservative that what Cunningham likes to bring. I look for Dorsey to wreak all kinds of havoc.

Throw into that mix a healthier Boone, the veteran Edwards, “all-boats-rise” improved production from our second year linemen (McBride, Tyler) and maybe a pleasant surprise or two out of rotation from names like Johnston and Dingle and I can totally see us once again rocking Arrowhead to the tune of 150+ dB every time the defense forces opponents into a 3rd & long.

If the D-Line performs the way I expect them to, then age concerns at LB is less of a worry not to mention that I wouldn’t trade DJ for any other LB giving where he is in his career right now. The same holds true for the secondary, where we are now looking overall faster, stronger, deeper, and younger at both safety and corner.

Even though last year’s defense had flaws here and there, no one can convince me that they didn’t do a pretty damn good job of keeping us in most games. And even though I expect them to make a mistake here and there, I can totally see how 2008 might turn out to a break-out season for this defense collectively and also individually for a number of the players on it.

As far as Walt’s assessment of our offense goes, it all hinges on whether the OLine improves and by how much. I have to believe it will improve simply because there is no way it could be any worse than it was last year. The “how much” part remains to be seen.

Anyway, I’m glad that everybody else in the world is thinking and saying how much the Chiefs will suck this year because that just serves to fuel the team to go out and earn respect.

That to me was the most disappointing thing about last season and really exposed our offense for being as fraudulent as it was and still is. We are just a few positions away on offense from having a legit squad.
(ok a few on D too)

Dan, I thought we only had 9 fans? So it wouldn’t really help that much :)

There you go Dan, I got you linked.

For everyone that says that Dorsey has major injury concerns, like in that preview, last time I checked, he didn’t miss a game his senior year at LSU. He didn’t even miss one game his whole career at LSU. He played a whole year with the stress fracture, and if I remember correctly, he did win a few awards his senior year.

    Loved the Lima picture btw!

-Does anyone know if we’ve even taken a look at LeCharles Bentley yet? I think we’d be stupid to not at least give him a work out or something.

-Jose Lima was one crazy motherfucker, and very entertaining. But I’m glad the Royals eventually realized he was overall pretty worthless as a pitcher.

-Nice find with the “douchebags with hot chicks” site. Definitely great for a couple laughs :D .
