Seven-Up: The Dwayne Bowe Interview
We want to welcome the folks coming over from Hashmarks and SI.com’s Hot Clicks. Thanks to both Matt Mosley and SI for the hook up. But on to the big news…
Thanks to the good folks over at YardBarker.com, and of course “The Show” himself, we have an exclusive interview with Chiefs star Dwayne Bowe for you! D-Bo not only has a new official site, but he will be blogging for YB from here on out as well. Here’s his latest post. Bark it up! (By the way, YB is blowing up and becoming the place to read pro athlete’s blogs. Great site for sports fans.)
Here are the questions. It’s a quickie but goody. Hopefully, we’ll be able to do this again and you can definitely read his thoughts over at YB…
1. My brother and I were at your first home game at Arrowhead when you completely took over and caught the game-winning touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings. The atmosphere was simply electric. You seemed jacked, you were calling for the ball. What was that game like for you?
It was just like college. I just felt like the team needed me and I took it into my own hands like I did when I was at LSU. My high school coach, Carlos Osegueda told me that big time players make big time plays in big time games in big time situations and that is what I did. I enjoyed the moment and then focused onto the next game.
2. All the hype and buzz Chiefs-wise is Glenn Dorsey right now, your ex- and once-again teammate. Tell us a little about the big man. Is he as good as advertised?
He is from LSU, what do you expect? I told Herm Edwards if you want to win, draft Glenn and that’s what he did. So you can expect “The Show” and former LSU superstar Glenn Dorsey to make it happen for the Chiefs this year.
3. We understand that you are thinking about taking “The Show” from the football field to the silver screen. Is Hollywood ready for D-Bo? What kind of stuff do you see yourself doing?
To be continued…
4. Lil’ Wayne is your favorite rapper. Could you hang with Weezy on the mic?
Of course, he do his thang on the mic, I do my thang on the field but at the same time we are both doing our thing.
5. Chiefs fans always debate this, so we’ll let you decide for the last question. Who do you hate more: the Denver Broncos or Oakland Raiders?
I don’t hate neither of the teams…hate is a very strong word. I love playing both teams, they have very good corners who challenge me to do my best.
6. Who’s the bigger pretty boy: D-Bo or Tony G?
Neither, Tank Tyler!
7. How’s your Herm Edwards impersonation? Who’s the best on the Chiefs at doing Herm?
I do a pretty good Herm impersonation.
Good times! Hopefully, we’ll be able to do this again sometime during the season. For now, we hear that D-Bo is going to likely be doing some vlogging. So, we’ll holler at the YB folks and see if they can get that Herm impersonation on video over there.

Awesome! Somewhere over the Dwayne Bowe!

If you haven’t checked out his blog or new website than you are missing out!
June 12th, 2008 at 11:52 amIt’s interesting to finally have one of those big-mouthed receivers on the team, a la TO or Chad Johnson or Steve Smith. But it worries me too. I get the impression that Dwayne Bowe is a pretty hardcore “me” guy.
A couple of things that rubbed me the wrong way:
-No hatred for Oakland. As a Chief, you have to hate the Raiders. I don’t really see another option.
-”I told Herm to draft Dorsey and he did.” Yeah, Dwayne.. I’m sure it was your advice that influenced the selection of our top pick.
-Talk of a MOVIE?
I’ve always really enjoyed watching players like TO and Chad Johnson, but now that we have one on our team it gets on my nerves. I think he needs to just shut his mouth and play football until he at least proves something.
June 12th, 2008 at 2:26 pmGood stuff. DBO is a beast.
June 12th, 2008 at 3:22 pmthaks Ian. Yah we love the guy at Arrowhead Addict.
June 12th, 2008 at 3:45 pmSean,
Absolutely couldn’t disagree with you more, man.
First of all, we were lucky to get the interview, and he was nice enough to take the time to do the piece for our site. A lot of guys wouldn’t have.
Second, like Chad, Smitty and T.O., D-Bo works his ass off and shows up big every Sunday. Also, he has never given the Chiefs any problems whatsoever, so you assumptions are unfounded. I thought he showed some class with his Broncos-Raiders answer. It’s up to the fans to hate, while it’s up to the players to win. Plus, he’s been a Chief for a year, us fans have been Chiefs since we were born, and will be until we die.
Third, nothing wrong with wanting to do something else besides football. I’ve worked on and off in the film industry, and it’s a desirable industry to be a part of. You can’t blame him for wanting to get into the movies. A football is only an injury away from losing everything.
Sorry, but I had to jump on here and get his back. “The Show” has shown us nothing but class so far. Let’s not interpret personality and a sense of humor as selfishness prematurely. Chiefs fans already judge L.J. obsessively, let’s not make it two guys.
June 12th, 2008 at 4:27 pmshouldnt he call himself D Show?
June 12th, 2008 at 4:37 pmThat’s a hybrid nickname! It works, though.
June 12th, 2008 at 4:39 pmI’m gonna have to counter some of that, Adam:
I don’t know about Chad, but to say Terrell Owens and Steve Smith don’t work their asses off is totally untrue. They’re great because they work hard on and off the field, week in and week out.
I can see what you mean about the Raiders comment. As long as he recognizes the seriousness of the rivalry and works his ass off against Oakland I’m OK.
And I don’t mind him wanting to make a movie, (TO is making a TV show) but it seems a little premature. TO is a superstar. D-Bo hasn’t even cracked 1000 yards in the league.
DON’T GET ME WRONG. I like characters. It’s why I liked Jared Allen. I’m especially excited about having a wide receiver that’s vocal and a potential leader and motivator for our offense. I just think proving himself on the field should come first.
June 12th, 2008 at 5:00 pmUh, Adam said those guys worked their assess off. Might want to read that again.
June 12th, 2008 at 5:03 pmOh my bad. I read it as “unlike”.
Right on, Adam. Right on.
June 12th, 2008 at 5:06 pmWell, you failed to ask him the most pressing question: 6. The Dallas Cowboys passed over you in the draft. Did this break your heart to have to be drafted and play for a perennial loser?
We know your answer D-Bo. We know your answer.
June 12th, 2008 at 7:34 pmNah, he wanted me to tell you that both the BBQ and the fans are better in K.C. Stop hatin’, TLH!
June 12th, 2008 at 7:53 pmTLH is just wanting to get a rise out of us for more traffic…its like a drug to him. A true Arrowhead Addict.
June 12th, 2008 at 8:16 pmPiggybacking! Like Sam Cassell signing with the Celtics. Are you riding coattails, Dan? Just playing, man.
June 12th, 2008 at 8:51 pmSomeone needs to get back to their own blog.
