A.A.D.Q.: Your Fave Five Chiefs

by Fanzone/Tailgating

Charles Barkley (TNT)As C-Webb reminded all of us Chiefs fans not too long ago, there’s a thing called the Fave Five. And, no, I won’t plug that ruthless phone company here–screw them. Charles Barkley and D-Wade also remind those of us who are following the NBA playoffs, oh, once every commercial break, maybe more (Celtics-Lakers, anyone? Could be epic!)

So, that’s the A.A. D.Q., or Daily Question: Which current Chiefs make your Fave Five?

My list:

  1. Larry Johnson
  2. Tony Gonzalez
  3. Dwayne Bowe
  4. Brian Waters
  5. Tamba Hali

Not yet, Glenn Dorsey. But you’re on my radar. I’m rooting for you because, truth be told, I’m more of a defensive guy.

Let’s hear your lists, and why, I guess, if you feel like it…

2. slvester morris(dud)
3. derrick alexander
4. marcus patton
5. ryan sims

1. Tony Gonzales, best TE in NFL history.
2. Dwayne Bowe, finally the Chiefs have a top-notch receiver.
3. Donnie Edwards, I liked him before he left and I like him now.
4. Tamba Hali, now the best pass rusher on the team.
5. Dustin Colquitt, by default.

My current fave five include:
1. Tony G
2. LJ
3. DBowe
4. DJ
5. Dorsey

My all-time list would include:
1. Derrick Thomas
2. Tony G
3. Nigerian Nightmare (he was so fun to watch run over people)
4. Priest
5. LJ

Carl Peterson barely missed the cut on both lists.

Why not Marcus Allen? He didn't play here as long, but he purposely retired as a Chief instead of a Fader. If he considers himself a Chief, so do I.

Neil Smith finished as a donkey
shields played RG not next to roaf

willie roaf is the best player we've had in years the top 5 of the last 10 years is

1. willie roaf (don't forget he is a hall of fame left tackle)

2. derrick thomas ( not a long enough career to guarantee but in our heats it is)

3. will shields (part of the hall of fame best side in football for years)

4. priest holmes (Enjoyed watching him break the touchdown record while a chief)

5. Neil Smith (chiefs most celebrated pass rusher)

No Marcus Allen he was a raider in which I will never consider a chief

5. neil smith

1. DJ - Seems to get better every year. He's a cornerstone of the D and will be for quite a while.

2. Donnie - He stood out on the field this year more than anything else as a SURE TACKLER. Way better than anyone from the previous year. Plus, I think DJ's play has improved because of him.

3. Gonzo - Always a sure thing. I can't believe he is still so good. He just never gives up - the first tackler hardly ever brings him down immediately.

4. LJ - Despite the bitchy attitude, he can tear up the field. He had HUGE shoes to fill when Preist first went down and he really stepped up. I hope he does again.

5. Bowe - Really the first potentially great Chiefs receiver in years. Very good production for a rookie and finally some weight off of Tony.

Honerable mentions:

6. Croyle - I think he will prove everyone wrong. Besides, he's OURS! Not the usual cast-off from another team. He's actually a Chief! What a great thing to see. Hope he pans out.

7. Naps (Napoleon Harris) - I like him. I think his main problem last season was the lack of run-stop by the DT's. He's better than people give him credit for.

8. Dorsey/Tank - If Dorsey is the man everyone says he is, we have it made. I expect Tank to make big strides this year. No bust on that one.

9. Our future returner - whoever that is (probably KR) may be the most massive upgrade of the year over the reeking pile of waste that is Eddie Drummond.

10. Flowers - sure he's a rookie, but he'll blow Law out of the water. Huge improvement here.

11. Any offensive linemen that step up - I will kiss the ground when we can finally run 4-5+ yards on a down and have more than 1.5 seconds before impending sack.

12. A decent kicker - it was bad enough that we had to worry about Tynes shanking extra points. Then we had last year. And we won't even talk about that one guy without a name. Somebody please!

And my all-time favorite pickup of the year:

**Chan Gailey**

I know, he's not a player, but now I won't have to try and hold back the bile in my throat after every offensive series.

too me it doesent matter whos in the fab 5 or w..e you want to caalll i t but if i had too make one this is what it would be

1-colquitt
2-arrowhead
3-kc wolf
4-tony
5-the bench for giving us the most useless of players and staring them(im speaking about the past years starting with herm....there hasent been nfl quality starters in kc maybe we will have to reach out in the free agency if we want to win now but if we relie on the drafts we could have a doozy of busts compared to hall of famer's ..my opinion feel free to disagree

Especially considering the season was long gone. Nothing much left to do but pad some stats.

@Mike, yes, he could have caught a few more balls.. But seriously, are you going to put that much pressure on a rookie who already had a badass season (especially considering it was in our offense) and who was injured to boot? Look at TO, how many passes has he dropped in the last two years? Quite a few my friend, quite a few. And they had basically the whole second half to get him that one 5-yard reception he needed for 1K yards. Instead they went over and over again to Jeff Webb. I don't mind that, IF we didn't have a player on the brink like that. If Tony G was sitting at 995 yards, we'd damn sure get him the ball, if we had to throw 4 picks doing it. That's all I'm saying..

1.Tony G
2.Tamba Hali
3.D Bowe
4.L.J. 5.Derrick Johnson
6.Glen Dorsey
7.Dustin Colquitt(probably should be ranked higher, but I just couldn't do it.)
8.Brian Waters
9.Donnie Edwards
10.Brandon Albert(the next Willie Roaf, we hope!)
11.Brodie Croyle(wishfull thinking)
12.Alfonso Boone(underated)
13.Jarrad Page(ProBowler if he improves tackling)
14.Jamal Charles(will contribute earlier than you think; really like this guy, hes a gamebreaker!)
15.Brandon Flowers(running out of names, but I think he's gonna be solid.)

Top 15, beat that!!

Biggest remaining needs:
Kicker
O-line
Defensive End
Wide Reciever

Free Agents we should look at:
1) Chris Henry(another big reciever is what Brodie needs!!)
2) Lito Sheppard(Eagles don't want him and we could probably get him for a 3rd rounder next year)
3) Jeremy Newberry( need a little experience on the O-line)
4)Kyle Brady(just in case Cottam takes a while to develop)
5)Defensive End?? Wish we still had Jimmy Wilkerson!

The reason DBO didn't get his 1000 yards is because I'm sure it would have come with a nice rookie bonus. Its like they were
purposely not throwing him the ball in that last
game. I couldn't believe it. I'm glad you noticed
too xxxlp what a embarassment

1.Jared Allen
2.T-Rich
3.Dante X-Factor Hall
4.John Tait
5.Carl Peterson

Are you kidding me? We have no team because of #5.

1. LJ- if he can return to his former beastly self
2. D. Bowe- our best reciever in a long time and hes only like 23
3. Derrick Johnson- our best young defensive player
4. Tamba Hali- puts a lot of pressure on the QB
5. BRANDEN ALBERT- yeah, you can call me crazy, but i truly believe this guy is going to solve our LT problems for the next 10 years

sorry seanbcool, i agree D-Bo should have had 1,000...but not only couldthey have thrown to him one more time, but D-Bo could have caught one more ball himself instead of dropping it. hopefully hs hands get better next year.

1.Tony Gonzalez
2.Dwayne Bowe
3.Derrick Johnson
4.Larry Johnson
5.Brodie Croyle

im not a big brodie croyle fan but im rooting for him to become the man that can take us to the playoffs again one day...if its not him, then we'll have to wait an extra 3 years to get there because we have to develop a new QB

1. Tony Gonzalez
2. DJ
3. Bernard Pollard
4. The one whom they call the Roc
5. Brodie...I believe...but I reserve the right to change that answer to Thigpen!

1. Tony-G
2. LJ
3. Tamba Hali
4. Dwayne Bowe
5. Brian Waters

6. OCTOBER GONZALEZ! Take her over Kelli Croyle any day, lol.

5) D. Bowe
4) DJ
3) LJ
2) Tony G

1) KELLY CROYLE!!

1. dwayne bowe
2. derrick johnson
3. larry johnson
4. tamba hali
5. tony gonzalez

the top 5 are easy but here are the next 5

6. brian waters
7. dustin colquit
8. brendan flowers
9. glen dorsey
10.donnie edwards

1. Dwayne Bowe (young, talented, cocky and signed through at least 2012, lol).

2. LJ (nuff said)

3. Tamba Hali (high motor, high character, nice story)

4. Tyron Brackenridge (underdog, undersized, underutilized, under the knife)

5. ANY KICKER WHO CAN MAKE A FIELD GOAL PAST 35 YARDS!!!!!!

1. Tony Gonzalez
2. Larry Johnson
3. Brian Waters
4. Dustin Colquitt
5. Tamba Hali

Really tough list and I'm not even sure about it. Dwayne Bowe is my honorable mention.

@xxxlp: I know what you mean about those 5 yards. Every time I see that 70 receptions for 995 yards I think "They could have thrown to him ONE more time. " Gets me pretty irate too.

Boy this is tough.

Current:
1. Gonz
2. LJ
3. DJ
4. D-Bowe
5. Dorsey

I would have listed Colquitt and I love what he does but I really don't like seeing him on the field if you know what I mean.

All time offense:
1. Otis
2. Arbanas
3. Okoye
4. Stenerud
5. Marcus

Honorable mention: T-Rich, Priest, Jerrel Wilson, Ed Budde, EJ Holub (as C), Garrett, Super Gnat, Lenny, Alt, Grunhard, Szott, Shields, Roaf, Vanover, Dave Hill

All time Defense:
1. Lanier
2. Cherry
3. Buchanan
4. DT
5. N. Smith

Honorable mention: Carter, Lewis, Still, Bell, Culp, Lynch, E. Thomas, J. Robinson

Top 5:
1. Donnie Edwards, the complete, veteran LB.
2. Larry Johnson, a top 3 NFL RB when healthy.
3. Tony Gonzales, one of THE BEST of all time, and currently a top 2 TE in the league. For sure a Hall of Fame'r.
4. Dwayne Bowe, first quality receiver we've had (besides Kennison) since Joe Horn or Andre Rison, why didn't we get him the 5 freakin' yards he needed for 1,000 yards? I'm STILL heated about that.
5. Herb Taylor, not to take away from Brian Waters, easily our best O-lineman, but I believe Herb Taylor holds a big key to our offensive success next year, and for years to come, so he makes the cut on my list. He stepped in at left tackle and played well there too, near the end of the season. if we can find a center in FA after the post-draft cuts take place, or one of our own guys can step up, we will have a solid line this year (Albert-Waters-Center X-Taylor-McIntosh/Svitek.)

1. DJ
2. Dustin Colquitt
3. D-Bo
4. LJ-Z
5. Gonzo

nearly on the list- Billy Cundiff (Drake Alum that I played soccer with a few times while I was in school with him.)

1. Tony Gonzalez
2. Dwayne Bowe
3. Brian Waters
4. Donnie Edwards
5. Glenn Dorsey

(#1 would have been Jared Allen had he not been traded).

1. TG
2. DJ
3. LJ
4. D-Bo
5. Dorsey

I usually would never put a rookie on a list like this, but we usually don't have a Man-child beast at DT.

Current :
1. Tony G
2. D-Bowe
3. LJ
4. DJ
5. TBA - Dorsey, Flowers, Morgan

Last 25 years (1983-2008):
1. Derrick Thomas
2. Tony Gonzalez
3. Albert Lewis
4. Deron Cherry
5. Will Shields

1. LJ -- He's the key to our success in the next two years.
2. TG -- The best at his position. Period.
3. DJ -- Contra to the (former) Allen crew, I think he is our best defender (he just happened to play on the side that does not rack up stats).
4. Tamba -- Good first two years for his position, but I think he is going to have a break-out year
5. Waters -- Dude, just hang on so we can fix the rest of the line and let you do your job.

Honorable Mention: D. Bowe. Good, but not yet great. Perhaps he will bump Waters next year. Colquitt. I just can't bring myself to root for a punter.

1)LJ
2)DJ
3)TG
4)DBO
5)"Pretty Boy" Donnie Edwards
I Know FOR SURE i like LJ
DJ's Gonna be a force this year
do i need to explain TG?
DBO is a bright light on the team
Ive always loved donnie ever since he was drafted, his 1st year we sat right behind the chiefs bench and with his pretty little curls we gave him soo much shit and after the games hed come over and bullshit with us he was really cool

1) Tony G
2) D-Bowe
3) Derrick Johnson
4) Larry Johnson
5) Brian Waters

Do I really even like Larry Johnson?? I just don't want him to be offended (I'm sure he reads the comments here) and get all whiny again.

I think you need to have Tony as Numero Uno... and it's really hard to not put DT on there just because... but..here goes...

1. Tony Gonzalez
2. Dwayne Bowe
3. Brian Waters
4. Derrick Johnson
5. Dustin Colquitt

That 5 spot for me was a toughie...but I figured you have to include DuCo because he was our entire offense last season... or at least he was the only person giving the defense any help... Tony is the model Chief, and will always be a favorite for me. You gotta love D-Bowe just because, and I don't think the rookies deserve the spots yet.
