Before I Go, Let’s Stir The Pot…
Since the Bucs now have seven quarterbacks and Chris Simms is reportedly healthy and throwing well, who else thinks the Chiefs should consider trading for him? After all, we didn’t draft a quarterback to compete with Brodie Croyle, and Damon Huard looked finished at the end of last season. How much could a trade possibly cost when everybody knows the Bucs have to unload a couple QBs? I mean, they have to. And he might even get cut, which would be even better for us.
This and my 3-4 idea might not happen, but both make some sense to me. Anyway, had to give you something to chat about on my way out the door.
Tell us what you think of Simms in Red and Gold?

Im not that high on Sims, i think hes a solid backup but idk if hes that great as a starter
Does the move make sense? maybe
but after the draft i think its clearer than ever that were fine with the QBs we have at the moment (in the chiefs eyes) so all future Qb talk is prob a waste of air
April 28th, 2008 at 5:22 amABSOLUTELY NOT! Simms is horrid, i would much rather have his dad come out of retirement than have this primadona disgrace a Chiefs uniform. So what I’m trying to say is “no” I don’t think it’s a good idea.
April 28th, 2008 at 5:30 amWhen he was healthy he wasn’t that good, when he’s injured he’s terrible and he’s usually injured. Why would we want him?
April 28th, 2008 at 6:41 amTerrible idea. He just isnt that good. It would be a waste of a prospect that we need for the future. We can get better competition elsewhere.
April 28th, 2008 at 6:56 amIt probably couldn’t hurt. We’re going to have to bring someone in, and it may as well be a young guy who is a reclamation project. He would be better than some 35 year old chump.
April 28th, 2008 at 7:25 amtotally off subject but just want to say to the guys who pumped up yhe contract extension of winslow jr(which hasent happened) go to si and see that maybe hes on his way out of cleve. since the drafting of rucker. told you that he looked like a HOFamer
April 28th, 2008 at 7:25 amOh come on guys. I think that it wouldbe a great idea. They wouldn’t have to give that much for him. He really does have talent but hasn’t been healthy yet. It kinda reminds me of someone else that umm…. Trent Green before he came to us he was a health concern. Give the guy a shot you never know.
April 28th, 2008 at 8:20 amABSOLUTELY NOT!!! As an Oklahoma fan I loved it when Chris Simms was at Texas – he cracked under pressure. What did Texas do with Simms? Absolutely NOTHING!
April 28th, 2008 at 9:28 amI personally hope we see one of the bigger, more durable QBs left over from the draft – e.g., Sam Keller, Neb, 6′4″ 241 lb; Anthony Morelli, Penn St, 6′4″ 231 lb; Xavier Lee, Fl St., 6′4″ 232 lb; Adam Tafralis, San Jose St., 6′1″ 223 lb. We may still need somebody that can come in and withstand a lot of punishment over the next year or two.
I also hope we bring in a blocking FB. Jed Collins sits at the top of my list right now – Wash St., 6′2″ 254.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:13 amStevenH…Did you call Simms a primadonna? Didn’t he have his spleen burst on a dive toward the goalline?! Oh yeah…what a wimp!
April 28th, 2008 at 10:39 amyeah that sounds like a pussy to me haha
April 28th, 2008 at 11:19 amIm just talkin here, but if Anderson has another stellar year, what are the possibilites of geting Quinn? Are they gona sit him for 5 years?
The way I also see it, now, the Bears are the only other team with pressing QB needs. There might be some others with needs but not “pressing”. So ya gota wonder, between us and Chicago. You have Michael Vick, that might be eligible next year, after he gets out of prison. You have Quinn, who might be trade bate if anderson perfoms again. And, ove course, you have Tebow next year. The only thing I see with Tybow, is that if we finish low, and grab him, we loose out on oher. I don’t see us having two 1st’s again next year, unless we trade away LJ, which, in light of our recent picks, isn’t entirely out of the question. Again, just talkin.
April 28th, 2008 at 11:42 amI think you give Brodie a chance under a decent line, which we might have this year. We also just signed R. Santos out of New Hampshire who had sick numbers. GIVE BRODIE A CHANCE ‘08!
April 28th, 2008 at 11:49 amAfter this draft, I would never think of trading a draft pick for a player!!!! lol!!!!
April 28th, 2008 at 11:50 amFormer Indiana quarterback Blake Powers agreed to a two-year free-agent deal, and former New Hampshire QB Ricky Santos also agreed to terms with Kansas City late last night and early this morning…something to chew on.
April 28th, 2008 at 12:02 pmToo big a risk at this point. I think given the weekend draft and promise of what direction we’re heading, lets not even go there. Memory from last year, Thigpin appeared to have the tools based on what I saw in pre-season. With another camp under his belt, could prove to be a good back up. I think keeping Damon on the roster one more year may help unless this Blake Powers kid from Indiana who just signed as a free agent shows promise.
April 28th, 2008 at 12:13 pmI wouldn’t mind Simms if the Chiefs didn’t have to give up alot for him. He’s a tough guy, and that’s probably what the Chiefs are going to need in a QB if the line isn’t exponentially better than last year.
Especially if Simms get released, and we don’t have to give ANYTHING for him. In the words of Snoop Doggy Dogg: “Fo’ shizzle.”
April 28th, 2008 at 12:15 pmOther names to add to the UDFA list if they’re not already signed elsewhere:
Erin Henderson, OLB, Maryland
April 28th, 2008 at 12:27 pmBen Moffitt, ILB, S. Fl.
Ali Highsmith, OLB, LSU
Drew Radovich, OG, USC
Eric Young, OG, Tenn
Robt Felton, OG, Ark
Pedro Sosa, OG, Rutgers
Dorien Bryant, WR, Purdue
Darius Reynaud, WR, W. Va.
Maurice Purify, WR, Neb.
Fernando Velasco, C/OG, Ga.
JoLonn Dunbar, ILB, BC
Jehuu Caulcrick, RB/FB, Mich St.
Brandon McAnderson, FB, KU
Tony Temple, RB, Mizzou
Matt Spanos, C, USC
Doug Legursky, C, Marshall
Adam Spieker, C, Mizzou
I think you have to look at all of the o-lineman, I want Robert Felton and Spieker at least if we would sign one or bopth they are guys that could one day be legit starters personally i think Felton will be better than Richardson who we got in the 6th
April 28th, 2008 at 12:40 pmWe signed Mike Cox, FB, G. Tech. 6′ 254 lb. Didn’t realize he went undrafted. Awesome! I wonder what the chances are that Chan Gailey had a hand in that post-draft acquisition?
I see we’ve also signed Johnny Dingle, DL, W. Va. Jeez, with any luck we can also draft his DL teammate Scooter Berry in a year or two. How awesome would it be to have a bench where a guy named Berry is sitting to the right of a guy named Dingle?
Another notable acquisition is PK Connor Barth, UNC
April 28th, 2008 at 1:00 pm411 on Conner Barth (courtesy nfldraftcountdown.com)
Strengths:
Decent size…Has plenty of leg…Clutch and handles pressure really well…Can also kickoff….Has developed good accuracy and consistency…Productive…Experienced.
Weaknesses:
Has trouble with the longer attempts..Some of his kicks come out a little low…Had had too many of his attempts blocked..Struggled with accuracy early in his career.
Notes:
April 28th, 2008 at 1:03 pmYounger brother Casey is also a kicker and walked-on with the Tar Heels…Was a first-team All-American in high school…Was a four-year starter..Holds the Tar Heel record for most field goals made….Deserves a camp invite….Underrated prospect.
Spieker has signed with the Raiders
April 28th, 2008 at 1:57 pmCaulcrick has signed with the J-e-t-s
Temple & Young are with the Browns
D. Bryant and Legursky to the Stillers
Moffitt to Houston
Trafralis to Indy
OC’s Velasco and Scott to Titans
WR Rafael Little to Titans
OL F. Dunbar to Philly
LB Henderson, OL Radovich, & WR Reynaud to the Vikes
QB Morelli & LB Highsmith to the Cards
McAnderson to the Rams
Yeah, those guys were almost all signed on Sunday following the draft.
April 29th, 2008 at 10:11 amFelton hasn’t been signed yet i don’t think we should look at him
April 29th, 2008 at 2:46 pmI’ll give him one thing, he is TUFF!!! I remember the game where he ruptured his spleen, and he was taking the worst beating ever and still got up +3..I remember the game brodie hurt his pinkie and didn’t get up!!! One things for shure, if we don’t pick up another QB Huard will be starting by week three!!
April 30th, 2008 at 8:26 amWhy would we want a QB who can’t even start for Tampa Bay? If he was any good Tampa wouldn’t bring in 3 new qbs a year and the way we have drafted the last three years there is no way I would want to give up a pick for him. Give Brodie a chance, shit the draft is over and you guys are still trying to get rid of him. Give him eight games before you try running him out of town.
May 1st, 2008 at 1:07 amThat is just what Green Bay said, “if Brett cant even start for Atlanta why would WE want him”…
