Paging Carl: Trade Up And Get Carl Nicks…Argh…Nevermind
Update: The Bucs just took Johnson and the Saints just took Nicks. Ouch. It is clear to me that we feel we have so many holes that we are absolutely not willing to sacrifice picks to move up. Oh well, I tried.
I’m going to make this short and sweet. I know he has character concerns, but my God, in the fifth round I love Carl Nicks. I would have been perfectly fine drafting him in the third round. The Chiefs have had a draft for the ages, but King Carl and Co. need to move up and draft this kid. Just wanted to go on the record with this one. It would only cost us an extra seventh to swap our first sixth and get up into the late fifth. Pull the trigger! Josh Johnson also has no business still being available.

April 27th, 2008 at 12:56 pmJosh Johnson, so strike him out.Eight more picks…
April 27th, 2008 at 12:57 pmAm I the only one who likes the Trey Wingo/Cris Carter/Jaws/Mort/Kiper line-up a thousand times better than the Boomer/Young/Keyshawn/Mort/Kiper line-up? Carter actually has things to say, unlike Keyshawn. Jaworski is clearly a thousand times better than Young. And Wingo has a refreshingly laid-back personality, unlike the overbearing asshole Berman.
April 27th, 2008 at 1:01 pmHe’s gone to New Orleans.
April 27th, 2008 at 1:04 pmAnd so is Owen Schmidt. Oh well, we are still ruling this draft!
April 27th, 2008 at 1:07 pmZinski,
Sure, today has been a lot smoother. A lot more laid back. Then again, I prefer Keyshawn to Chris Carter. I think he’s maxed out “dude” for the rest of his life. I agree on Berman and Jaws, though, even though Young is OK.
April 27th, 2008 at 1:13 pmBarry Richardson, OG, Clemson
April 27th, 2008 at 1:19 pmLong arms, good feet, big (6-foot-7, 300 pounds)…needs a mean streak, though…borderline top 10 guard in this class…can he even play tackle at his size with his feet?
April 27th, 2008 at 1:21 pmI still would like to take another lineman before the end of the draft. Plus if Andre Woodson is still on the board in the 7th, shouldn’t we take a flier on him.
April 27th, 2008 at 1:25 pmHe’s played some tackle, and I think that’s what we drafted him as. Either way, we have two good lineman who can play either G or OT. IMO, Albert is much more of a sure thing, but a good pick because of his size, upside and versatility.
April 27th, 2008 at 1:25 pmStrengths:
Outstanding size with a huge frame and long arms…Terrific athleticism…Very light on his feet…Great lateral mobility and range…Gets to the second level…Excellent pass blocker…Good body control…Once he locks on the battle’s over…Has a lot of experience against big-time competition…Offers some versatility…Still has upside.
Weaknesses:
Plays soft…Lacks a killer instinct and is not aggressive…Has to get stronger…Gets pushed around and doesn’t play to his size…Poor technique and he does not play with good leverage…Gets caught reaching too often…Effort is pretty inconsistent.
Notes:
April 27th, 2008 at 1:25 pmGraduated from high school in just three years..A four-year starter at left tackle in the ACC…Held future #1 overall pick Mario Williams without a sack in ‘05…Classic case of a prospect who “Looks like Tarzan, Plays Like Jane”…Has all the physical tools you look for but is an underachiever…Could be a steal if some coach can get him to be more nasty but it’s difficult to change a guys demeanor and personality.

April 27th, 2008 at 1:26 pmSure, why not on Andre’. I think we go Peyton Hillis here, though. I would even trade up to get him.
April 27th, 2008 at 1:27 pmEric Young + Marcus Monk with our last 6th and first 7th. Young can play guard, center, tackle and he was a solid player for Tennessee. Monk is 6′5 and 4.47 speed, he would be a solid red zone threat and more depth to our secondary.
April 27th, 2008 at 1:41 pmKevin Robinson, anyone got info on him?
April 27th, 2008 at 1:50 pmLooks like we got a return specialist. Not a bad pick considering how bad we were at returning last year.
April 27th, 2008 at 1:50 pmnfldraftcountdown.com again…
Strengths:
Good size and bulk…Quick and plays faster than he times…Has good hands…Nice ball skills and body control…Elusive with terrific vision…Big play threat…Tough and will work the middle of the field…Aggressive..Can also contribute as a return man.
Weaknesses:
Below average timed speed…Might have trouble separating at the next level…Did not always play against top competition…Marginal route runner…Isn’t very strong or physical…Not much of a blocker..Inconsistent…He may not have a lot of upside.
Notes:
April 27th, 2008 at 1:52 pmHis brother John Rushing played football at Washington St. and is the cornerbacks coach at Utah State….Broke the NCAA’s all-purpose yards per play record with an average of 16.2…He scored eight return touchdowns in his career, four on kickoffs and three on punts…Had a real strong showing at the East/West Shrine Game…A versatile prospect whose greatest impact will probably come as a return specialist.
K-Rob, Kevin Robinson, could be the answer for our return game. YouTube highlights:

April 27th, 2008 at 1:57 pmNot real fast, but plays fast. 4.47 40. Brennan is a Skin.
April 27th, 2008 at 2:01 pmNutz..there goes John Sullivan C 187 vikings
April 27th, 2008 at 2:09 pmConsidering we missed out on Dennis Dixon, Owen Schmitt, Jerome Felton, Roy Scheuning, and Carl Nicks in the 5th, I have to consider the picks from the 6th round to be a pretty decent recovery in terms of the type of offensive and ST we need to develop. Richardson your proto-typical a massive mauler-type who should add nice depth to the line and Robinson is one of those return guys who all of sudden becomes explosive if he breaks a tackle. Nice picks. John Sullivan would also have been a great pick up at this point.
April 27th, 2008 at 2:26 pmI like Richardson as a depth guy that you put in late in half to protect a lead with the run game. Makes very good sense to me.
April 27th, 2008 at 2:28 pmI think we can safely say that “upgrading” DE would not a realistic expectation in terms of something we should expect to address through the draft this year. However, considering we’ve presumably addressed inside rush and stopping the run through our number 1 pick, I’m not too terribly concerned about it right now. Plus we’ve got guys that still pretty young and developing on the DL as it is. I’d give Turk & Tank at least another couple of years to improve.
April 27th, 2008 at 2:33 pmWish we still had Wilkerson.
April 27th, 2008 at 2:41 pmHas Johnny Dingle been selected yet?
April 27th, 2008 at 2:46 pmWhat about moving to the 3-4? Glenn and Tank could play inside, and Boone and Turk would make better 3-4 ends, plus we have four linebackers. Tamba would be fine in the 3-4. Just a thought?
Is Johnny Dingle a real name? Geez.
April 27th, 2008 at 2:49 pmWell there he goes. Andre Woodson too the Giants in the 6th 198. Therz a big fat frickin waste. Guess im gona have to hear about Matt Ryan, from Adam, for the 3 or 4 years, cause we aren’t gona hear from Brohm or Woodson till 2011.
April 27th, 2008 at 2:49 pmOkay, here’s my list of choices for the next pick in order of preference.
Peyton Hillis FB
Erin Henderson OLB
Ben Moffitt OLB
Johnny Dingle DE
Jed Collins FB
Man, I can’t even believe that Hillis is still on the board.
April 27th, 2008 at 2:51 pmAdam,
Dingle played for W.Va. Believe it or not, he had a teammate named Berry.
