    • Randy5k : Yeah I think its a class move
    • MadMartigan : I figured as much. its good to see that the apple didn't fall far from the tree in the hunt family. most of me likes the fact that we are being quiet, but the other needs to know.
    • Randy5k : Clark is best friends with Pats owners son hope that helps
    • Woody : Yes, I love it too...Very professional...Randy Lerner has been leaking nonstop and being about as professional as a used car salesman...its sad...
    • Adam : Not yet. Clark is sure keeping things quiet. I like the way he conducts himself. The folks over at PFT are raving about it.
    • MadMartigan : any word how the interview w/ Pioli went?
    • Woody : uh oh....sounds about like what happened to me...I had to call the ISP and have many conversations...
    • Adam : Try refreshing, Randy. Still, I don't know why you'd be having any issues. You use IE?
    • Randy5k : I cant access aa on my home computer anymore anyone else having that problem?
    • Randy5k : I like the way the Chiefs are keeping quiet.
    • Woody : I feel the same way, Adam...I think if the interview is tomorrow then we may know something then or Tuesday...
    • Gump : Pioli looking better all the time. maybe we'll know something tomorrow?
    • Adam : No, I think Pioli is a good bet to come here. I honestly have always felt this situation is better than Cleveland's. The Browns are locked into a lot of bad contracts and have some rotten apples on that team. This is a great spot for Pioli.
    • epic : thanks for the link as well adam
    • Rihavens : I had a nightmare when I was sleeping today that the Chiefs traded Thigpen for a 5th and said they are still commited to Croyle. It was so plausable I had to double check.
    • Woody : Cool...its exciting...You think it is just posturing language?
    • Adam : Here's the AP link: «link» (you can always just paste in links)
    • Woody : Don Banks article...second bullet-point...
    • epic : where does it say that at?
    • Woody : Don Banks says Pioli is "excited" about the situation in KC...Check SI.com for more, or AP
    • chiefsfan3131 : I miss Jared Allen!!!
    • Adam : Haynesworth isn't going anywhere.
    • chiefsfan3131 : I'll agree with ya again about Suggs being a priority, could you imagine the benifits of having him and Haynesworth. I can Dream I guess...LOL
    • Adam : That would be very interesting. Shanny is down in Mexico for two weeks, so we won't know anything about him going anywhere untilhe returns apparently.
    • chiefsfan3131 : But rumors are exactly what they are untill something"for real" happens.
    • chiefsfan3131 : Per our NFL source, Warpaint Illustrated has confirmed that former Denver Broncos Head Coach has an eye on Kansas City. Per that source, he has working through a third party to make sure that Clark Hunt knew of his interest in working for the Kansas City Chiefs.
    • chiefsfan3131 : here is the line:
    • chiefsfan3131 : I read it on Warpaint forums.
    • Adam : I have not heard that, but I can see him wanting to exact some revenge on the Broncos like he did the Raiders for years.
    • chiefsfan3131 : Seperate the GM and HC and Team Pres duties. It is more productive for all. As long as all involved can work together. I heard that Shanny would like to come to KC to coach.
    • Adam : Jared is getting triple teamed. Wow.
    • Adam : Well, we have seprated business and football so that is not going to happen.
    • chiefsfan3131 : Moving away from Pioli might be a good Idea. I am not sold on Bringing a guy in that wants the entire package as Gm and Pres. Look at the track record of those who have had that kinda power. Also we just kicked CP to the curb and that was his undoing as well.
    • Adam : Pollard was better than Page this season. Led the team in tackles and had a ton of fumble forces and recoveries. Our entire secondary is fine, especially with a better front seven.
    • chiefsfan3131 : I agree about Page, We need to resign him and put somebody next to him that isn't as useless as The "Bonesmoker" Pollard.

Knee-Jerk Reaction: The Helicopter Has Landed

William Franklin (Mizzou)

K-State fans didn’t get Jordy Nelson, Kansas fans didn’t get Aqib Talib, but Mizzou fans will get to see WR William Franklin, aka The Helicopter, in Red and Gold. Let’s all hope he turns out better than Brad Ekwerekwu, the former Tiger and Redbeard’s personal savior who got cut a year ago.

Back to Franklin. My old man is a die-hard Mizzou fan, and he says Franklin is a great kid who comes from a great St. Louis family. He also said that he felt he was underutilized at Mizzou. I’ll let other Mizzou fans chime in on that. As far as the measurables go, he’s about the same size as Devard Darling and Jeff Webb at 6′2″, but he possess blazing speed which they can’t match. Dude ran a 4.37 40, just a blink slower than DeSean Jackson. He was also a pretty good high school basketball player, which explains his 35-inch vertical.

All I know is that the Chiefs saw plenty of Franklin, so they must have had him earmarked as their preferred fourth-round guy. That probably explains the Chiefs passing on guys like Jackson and Early Doucet. Besides, with all the time the Chiefs’ brass has spent scouting LSU, their passing on Doucet says something. Can Franklin become our No. 2 WR? I’m on the fence on this one.

I’ll let all you Mizzou fans out there add your $.02 on Franklin and let us know what we can expect.

This guy has unbeleivable speed and height. He will be a great deep threat and let Bowe get everything in between. I like it!!!!!

  2. 2. Jeremy (Riverside, CA) Says:

I am wondering if we are going to draft a QB at all? Do we really like Tyler Thigpen to be our second? I think Damon Huard’s days are numbered. Good work Adam, pretty fast on the postings.

  3. 3. Adam Says:

Thanks! I think we were looking at Kevin O’Connell. I really liked him, and when the Pats took him I said, damn, kid is going to be a player. Ainge, Johnson and Woodsen will be options as well.

  4. 4. jay Says:

I work with a guy who played against will in high school. He said the QB would just throw it up to him even if he was double/triple covered, and will would go up and get it, hence the helicopter. As for being under utilized, its true that he could have been thrown to more, but he spent the year working his run blocking, and took a back seat to Jeremy Macklin, for good reason honestly. Macklin set the ncaa record for freshman all purpose yards. He’ll likely be a first rounder in a year. The great thing about Will is he never complained about a diminished role, by all accounts he just wanted the team to win.

  5. 5. redbeard Says:

most speculation is just that as we still dont know what off. we will see. yes a run first but, passing wise we dont know. as for can he play yes he can… and he will strech the deff… he should be able to make the team and if so help the others opposite of bowe, parker should be gone now

  6. 6. redbeard Says:

one reason he was underutilized was a young kid for MU stepped up… now if they can draft him next year that would be magic…hahahahahhahahaha

  7. 7. Adam Says:

    Parker is a Donkey, ‘Beard.

  8. 8. Adam Says:

About 10 more picks as the Jeopardy song plays…

  9. 9. redbeard Says:

Jay your correct Macklin will be a first rounder no question

  10. 10. redbeard Says:

    oh yeah?

  11. 11. redbeard Says:

    thx adam

  12. 12. Jeremy (Riverside, CA) Says:

Why haven’t we selected another O-lineman? I say we should have with our last third round pick.

  13. 13. redbeard Says:

we should have used the first third on a lineman or a wideout… not the running back. I agree with you jeremy.

  14. 14. Adam Says:

If you are a run-first team, you need more than one viable starting RB. If L.J. goes down, Kolby Smith is not a viable guy. Besides, Kolby will likely be more of a Kimble Anders guy from here on out.

And I think we are just taking our BPA. We’ll get a couple more lineman and another CB.

Kiper raving about our draft yesterday.

  16. 16. jason Says:

rd5 chiefs select? who ya got?

  17. 17. Double D Says:

Can I just point out right now that I was the only one here who accurately predicted that there would be a run in the 1st round on OTs? Thank God the Chiefs did not fall into the trap of believing that there would be plenty of OL talent available in the 2nd round.

Btw Adam, you were completely wrong on this one.

I’m also happy to see that, so far, neither Dennis Dixon, not Owen Schmitt have been picked. Picking up Owen Schmitt in 5th round qualifies as being as good, if not better, than taking OG in the 2nd or 3rd round.

  18. 18. redbeard Says:

I understand they need running backs but it isnt a primary need… the line is and wideout and corner… for me I think we go linebacker this round

  19. 19. redbeard Says:

    we’re on deck adam… :)

  20. 20. jason Says:

maybe josh johnson? owen schmitt? please no on dixon

  21. 21. Adam Says:

Owen Scmitt or Josh Johnson works here…so does Nicks if he is out there still…was cooking, so…

  22. 22. Adam Says:

    Brandon Carr, CB, GVS

    I’ll start my research :)

  23. 23. Adam Says:

    Double D,

I was partially wrong. I was right about not needing to go tackle and reach at No. 5. But the Chiefs did have to move up, which I was screaming for them to do after Chicago took Williams. Rebeard also predicting the run on OTs, but great call.

    Brad Childress raving about Jared.

  24. 24. Adam Says:

    Carr…

    6’0, 205lbs, 4.43

    Grand Vallety State

Second best small-school corner after DRC

    Helped win the 2006 D2 Championship…

  25. 25. jason Says:

next best thing to DRC cool

  26. 26. Adam Says:

Looks like we are set with the two Brandons at corner, or at least moving towards that direction. I think we really got both guys half a round or so late, too. And both guys were picked early for Herm corners.

  27. 27. jason Says:

good size speed hopefully he can play

  28. 28. jason Says:

look we REALLY NEEDED CBs now we should stick to o line

  29. 29. jason Says:

also pickrd up a kcstar this morn man jabba is crazy too

  30. 30. Adam Says:

He’s just a hater. Lot’s of people hate Carl, but give the man a little credit for this draft.

  31. 31. jason Says:

found carr on youtube couldnt get it to play

  32. 32. jason Says:

we did great this draft you cant fault us at all

  33. 33. jason Says:

got the vid to play this cat carr has a 4 min vid of ints? how many in his career?

  34. 34. Cisper Says:

We should trade up and get Nicks now our wate and hopefully have Barry Richarson or Eric Young still there.

  35. 35. jason Says:

    agreed cisper

  36. 36. Adam Says:

Apparently, according to Jaws, Herm loved Carr and talked about him earlier today. Looks like we got another one of our guys.

I’m out for awhile. I’ll check back in with my recap tonight!

  37. 37. jason Says:

3 years no tds against carr wow 50 passes defensed 39 batted 11 ints wow div 2 soso

  38. 38. Double D Says:

I have a feeling we might look back and consider this (5th) round a whiff. Could have had Dennis Dixon, Owen Schmitt, Jerome Felton, Carl Nicks, or Roy Scheuning. Ah well . . .

  39. 39. Krans Says:

3 years no touchdown? holy hell. Well like i said i trust herm on the CB. I would like to have seen schmitt or another OL but overall still a great draft, im not as high on dixon. And yay for Colt, dunno how well he will fit for the redskins but at least if he does do good he will get paid well haha

  40. 40. rob Says:

you can say that about ever year that it could a whiff you never know what we are going to get but the buzz on espn all day yesterday was how good we did so you never know tell year3 but can all of you take it and not help run herm out at the hafe way point of the new kids you can say that but let say all of are guy we got this weekend are all probowl players you never no
