What did I say about those extra picks from the Vikes? Yep, knew it. I knew it when I dropped the last Blueprint and said Minny was the destination. Why? Because you could tell Jared wanted to be there. More on this to come...

Casey Printers wouldn't be bad to have on the squad; they cut him because Herm and Gun wanted more d backs; only reason patterson made the squad

R.P., the offensive line will be vastly improved, especially with those extra picks from the Vikes :)

I wonder what will happen to Matty Ice's cognitive abilities after his head is repeatedly pounded into the turf due to having an offensive line not unlike the one on the Matt Hasselback commercial (state farm i think?) I don't think the Chiefs will be able to resist the Raven's call to trade up to the spot, which seems pretty likely unless they trade up higher. The Falcons are also in search of a franchise QB as we know, so if they don't trade out they could take him. I like Andre Woodson in a later round; the cat can straight ball, just turn on the tape (4OT win against LSU?)

I'm absolutely warming up to Matty Ice, I ain't gonna lie. I mean, I think I'd still stick with my top five--Long (who is obviously gone, but I'd still take him), trading down (for more, like xxxlp's awesome scenario), Dorsey (just imagine...), and then Ryan--but I dunno... He's still the guy I'd be most intrigued by.

Here's my thing, Adam: I know we aren't going to be good next year, sure, but I feel that by going with Ryan, we're kind of rolling over what hope is left. I don't think, by any means, Croyle is gonna blow up tomorrow and become a Super Bowl winner, but I'm not quite ready to scratch him out.

Anyways, my point is this: I like him. The end.

The Matty Ice hate out there is staggering, and it is with all NFL fans, basically, but the scouts and experts love him. Why all the hate?

My anser? Realism. NFL fans want to think that their current quarterback--whether it be Brodie Croyle or Kellen Clemens or Tarvaris Jackson--is going to get the job done. That way their team doesn't have to use a valuable pick on a quarterback and can bring in another important position, like OT, DT or DE. Well, I'm here to add a dose of reality to the equation and tell you that none of those guys are going to lead their team to the Promised Land. But fans don't want to here that. Why? Because the hardest part of rebuilding is finding an adequate quarterback and leader. Fans want to believe deep down that has already happened, expediting the rebuilding process.

I think that sums the situation up nicely. To me, the guy has leadership capabilities that no other position can offer, and only a handful of quarterbacks bring to the table. Like Peter King said, and I'm paraphrasing, Matty has the same assuredness Peyton Manning had ten years ago. That, my friends, is hard to find. Especially in a quarterback with a prototype body and a 32 on the Wonderlic.

xxxlp, I think your scenario is possible, but there is a good chance that either someone trade in front of us or Atlanta takes Ryan. Especially if the word gets out that Atlanta will take him. Someone could trade up to number two and take him. We'll see. And Schmitt could happen, but I doubt it. Seems like we've brought in too many FBs.

I still believe that Baltimore trades down, giving us the 8th pick and a 3rd rounder to boot. Then if the Jared deal does go through, we have the 8th and 17th picks. If New England doesn't take Brandon Albert, which I think they're in too much need of a linebacker to do that; then we can take Albert at 8, where he's not a reach, at all, and also gets payed less. We can then get Williams, or our pick of any wide receivers/corners that we want. Another thing I wanted to throw out there; the talk about Owen Schmitt has died down, but I still want that guy in a Chief's uniform with a passion. A dude who breaks multiple facemasks, HIS OWN FACEMASKS, no less, is a straight beast. You need 1 yard on fourth down? He's the guy who will sacrifice everything to get you that yard. Just imagine how many 3rd/4th downs that guy will convert in his career. Maybe his other parts of his game aren't up-to-snuff, but hell I'd take him as just a special teams ace, and create a new position, One-Yard-Converter. He's a man among men. Havn't heard anything about him in quite awhile so I thought I'd stir the pot a little bit, leading up to Saturday.
