Ive been saying it along that he will be dealt. Why not get a good draft in return. We need more help then a DE.This way we can stockpile picks and get young and good quickly

  2. Zach says:

Well that depends if Carl doesn’t screw up the draft. I have faith in Herm, but have zero left for Carl.

  3. ilamuku says:

JA is a proven DE. If they trade him to pick up another DE, that would be a terrible mistake. Even the great Chris Long is a gamble in the NFL. JA isn’t.

  4. Stupid!Stupid!Stupid! If this happens we might as well throw in the towel

  5. matt says:

im sick of holding my toungue. Ive been reading your comments for awhile and i finally have to speak up. We should trade allen if we can get 1st and 2nd round picks for him.. i might even be ok with 1st and 3rd. We then trade down with the ravens and pick up an extra pick. We need all the help we can get, and if we can pick up more first day picks that would be great. i love jared allen and in fact i have a huge man crush on him. Hes my favorite player on the team but if he doesnt want to be here we might as well get something out of him before he takes off…

  6. Zach says:

    Matt -

Dont ever feel like you have to hold your tongue here. This is what this blog is all about.

I would be fine with a trade as long as I feel we get compensated. But let me ask you this:

How would you feel if those picks were not this years draft, but next? (Since that is what is being reported right now)

  7. David says:

Seriously, I wish we would’ve done that with LJ at the beginning of last year. I am still not convinced he’s the real deal. His stock was huge last year, and now his bankroll is bigger than his stock, in my opinion.

With respect to JA, I have little tolerance for players that show no appreciation for teams putting up with their ‘behavior’ issues. We stuck with him through his drunkeness, then he comes back and expects the world. Let someone else deal with his drunken behavior – it’s bound to happen again once he gets his almighty paycheck. Let’s get something while we can….but it MUST be a 1st rounder this year, I’ll settle for #2 next year.

  8. matt says:

That might be a tough pill to swallow… But since its pretty obvious to me that this rebuilding process is going to take longer than this season and next i might be ok with that

  9. Nate says:

I would agree with this move if I actually trusted Carl to not screw up our draft. And if the picks turn out to be for next year…this season will be miserable.

  10. Zach says:

I think people are to harsh on LJ. He WANTED to come back to KC, Jared obviously doesn’t. Plus I bet no RB in the league would want to run behind that OL.

David I hear you on Jared. We tolerated his suspension and the fans have loved him more than anyone! No other player in the league have been suspended and been loved like him. He is just lucky that he didn’t kill anyone with 2 DUIs… If Jared wants to go, then let him go :(

  11. matt says:

btw i came across this site about a month ago and i love it!! i check it everyday and i love the articles!! thanks guys.

  12. Zach says:

But I will still blame Carl for this. He needs to be held accountable for everything he has failed to do in his 20 years and it is time for him to go. My campaign…

If Jared goes, Carl needs to go to. Get them both out of KC!

  13. Zach says:

    Matt -

Thanks for the compliment, but it is really guys like you that make this site special!

  14. Zach says:

Does anyone want to sound off with a podcast? Any crazy people out there???? :)

  15. matt says:

Well im just happy that ive finally found a place to talk Chiefs!! My girlfriend could care less and shes sitting here making fun of me as we speak!

  16. ComeSackMyQB says:

hey zach..since nobody else is volunteering..i will

  17. KCMizzou says:

I don’t understand this at all. Trading a young, proven player for two unproven ones make absolutely no sense.

  18. David says:

Look, his value will never be higher. He is NOT going to make/break the Chiefs….this year. We have bigger needs, and we are in a rebuilding mode, you might as well cash in some chips and build for the future.

  19. I’m sick of people complaining because we signed LJ to a long term deal, when this time last year everyone was upset we hadn’t re-signed him. The guy has done nothing but good things “on the field” and nobody was complaining when he was torching defenses. So now you dont want to trade our best defensive player but complain that we should of traded our best offensive player. I don’t care if we had Walter Payton he wouldnt of been able to do jack with our o-line last year. I’m surprised LJ can still walk.

  20. Scott says:

I’m really torn on this issue.

JA was the obvious difference-maker last year. The first two games were AWFUL. The rest were only pretty crappy. Everything changed when he came back. I just can’t believe that we finally DEVELOP one of our own players (especially on defense!) and they want to get rid of him. He is among the elite in the league. Everybody is jealous of us for having him. I’ve seen Vikes and Bucs boards and the fans are going ape-shit. I just can’t see how getting rid of a player like him could possibly bring enough compensation to benefit the team.

On the flip side – We do need a CRAP load of players. Obviously we are rebuilding through the draft so we need a CRAP load of draft picks. This deal could be a big step in the rebuilding process. It could cut the time from 3-4 years down to 1-2. Plus, If JA is just going to leave next year anyway, we would be missing out on a huge profit here.

If only it was a perfect world and we could keep Allen and trade away CP for all those picks…

  21. David says:

Anthony, don’t get me wrong, I hope the heck LJ pans out….and I do understand that the front line was all to blame for LJ (and likely Brodie). BUT, I just have a bad feeling….I hope I’m wrong and you and Zach are correct! I’m not mad that he got his $$’s, I’m just concerned that he got his $$ based on 1/2 a season…a brilliant 1/2 a season, but 1/2 a season.

  22. KCMizzou says:

I understand his value won’t go any higher, and I understand that he won’t make or break us, but he’s the kind of player you can build a defense around. You can’t be sure you’re going to be able to replace him with anything better. You have no idea what you’re getting out of rookie. What happens if we do this trade and we end up with a first round bust? Then making this move ends up setting us back even farther.

  23. Zach says:

1/2 a season? I am pretty sure he had around 416 carries and somewhere around 1,800 yds. Thats a bit more than 1/2 a season. Just wanted to state that…

  24. Zach says:

Also he never got suspended, 2 DUIs, or want out of KC. He just wanted to start to prove himseld.

  25. David says:

I love this website! All good comments.

  26. ComeSackMyQB says:

ill agree with zach and A.C…this is a totally different situation..one guy wanted to stay..wanted more money..he proved he was worth more…the other proved his worth but decided we werent worth it to him…if LJ didnt want to be here he wouldnt bust his ass every game..and if we make jared stay..he wont bust his ass..you dont give 100% when you dont want to be there anyways..him and carl can do the two step outta town and it wont hurt my achey brakey heart..to quote another man with a mullet..lol

  27. ComeSackMyQB says:

The Chiefs have the right to match any offer made to Allen, and would receive two first-round draft picks if he were signed by another team
okay..this was in the article on nfl.com..can someone explain what this means..i mean how would we get 2 1st rd picks

  28. ComeSackMyQB says:

Though the franchise tag allows Allen to talk with other teams, any club attempting to sign him would have to compensate the Chiefs with two first-round draft picks.

this one was on yahoo sports

  29. Seriously, we have not been privy to the contract negotiations. Don’t automatically assume Carl is the bad guy. Maybe Jared wants way too much, he made the comment that he wants to be on a team that has a chance to win a championship. If he wants to go, then we will surely lose him next year, take what you can get now. I would love Jared to stay, but if it can’t happen then so be it. I am a Chief’s fan first, then a Jared fan. Just don’t assume the Chiefs Brass are stupid.

  30. Crane says:

In a way I agree with Zach and AC

The whole LJ thing some of you guys are talking about is completely different that Jared Allen’s. The issue with LJ was we knew he was as good as he is, and he was in the position of power to demand the contract he got and Jared slowly snuck up on us.
We knew Allen was good a few years ago, but he exploded over the last two…and we had no choice but to stick him with the tag, because he was too risky to give a long term deal to. Not to mention the DUI’s; we almost had a white Pac Man Jones until he cleaned his act up.
I wonder if a deal might be in the works with Miami in a sign and trade for Jake Long?

Also anyone else see that McNair retired today? That just makes a trade with Baltimore more possible.

  31. ComeSackMyQB says:

man..im glad LJ doesnt fumble the ball as much as i fumbled my words in that interview..i musta been nervous..

  32. Zach says:

Dont sweat that I fumble my words all the time. We can get at it again! Would love to have you back and I think you did a great job, especially with just jumping right in with no pre-questions.

  33. Dave S says:

Ok ,as a British fan I’ll admit I don’t understand all the subtelties of the draft and trades but…
If Jared Allen wants to go to a championship winning team why does he want to go to the Vikes or Bucs!?
It’s got to be about either money or personality clashes surely?
He’s young , he’s proven , he’s got to be worth a good contract. In 5 years he’ll still be young enough to move on so I can’t see him acting like a bum for 5 years that’ll just depress his value.Plus , he said at the start of last season he wanted to move on but still played his arse off.If the Chiefs give him the deal he wants he’ll play for real.Give him the money , what’s the point of getting even 2 unproven players for one proven one?
    I’m confused.
If this trade happens I’m going to get myself a Chargers jersey for the Wembley game this year :-(

  34. Zach says:

    No…………… Not the SPARKLERS!

I actually think if the Vikes can pull this trade off they could be contenders. They probably would have the best DL in the League. Also the Bucs have made the playoffs last season so they at least have a shot.

  35. Dave S says:

You make a good point , the Vikes will have a pretty solid D Line.Still don’t think they have the O to make it to the superbowl but there’s still time and the draft to go I guess.
Just read Adams blueprint 4 and some of the stuff about JA does make some sense even though I’m such a huge fan
Hmmm ,use extra pick to draft a star DE and get a CB in the deal…
    does sound tempting.

only kidding about the chargers jersey :-)
I’ll wear no 27 again , like i did last year to the Dolphins vs Giants game.

  36. Zach says:

As long as they have Purple Jesus on that offense it can really go anywhere it wants. Plus they still have Chester Taylor and they signed Bernard Berrian. QB is still an issue but with those RBs all he has to do is not turnover the ball.

  37. Porter Park says:

Jarred Allen is good for 1 or 2 sacks a game and atleast 1 25yrd run to his side

  38. KC says:

I like the trade and the possibility of getting more draft picks. This lays out to be a good draft for us because of value at picks. What scares me more than anything can CP get them signed and in training camp on time!!! I feel if the trade takes place our pick will be Chris Long.

  39. Dave S says:

With the QB situation surely any opponent is going to stack the box to stop ‘purple jesus’(where did that phrase come from :-) ?)
