Breaking News: Big Rumor Has Ocho Cinco Wearing Red And Gold

Posted by: Adam Best

Chad Johnson (SI)Just received an e-mail from one of my sources that made my jaw hit the floor. My source demanded that he remain anonymous, but there’s a big development taking place at the NFL owners meetings and it involves the Chiefs. Apparently, the Chiefs are now the leader in the clubhouse in the Chad Johnson sweepstakes.

Herm Edwards feels he has a good relationship with Ocho Cinco, and the rest of the front office feels that he’s the only player out there worth shelling out big bucks for. The Chiefs’ brass also feel that this will allow them to ignore the wide receiver position at the draft, instead focusing on more crucial positions like cornerback and offensive tackle. The Chiefs will likely have to surrender a second-round pick this year and a conditional future pick to the Bengals, and it appears they will. The actual trade won’t happen until closer to the draft, a la the Patrick Surtain deal.

We’ll pass along whatever we hear. Stay tuned…

    Um… April Fools?

  2. 2. Simon from KC Says:

yeah No shit. Anyone read the article about Elway buying the naming rights to renovated Arrowhead. Someone please dear god, come on hear and say that article from warpaint was a prank.

  3. 3. Jeremy (Riverside, CA) Says:

Better be April Fools becuase I don’t want him near this team, plus he would hinder the future development of Dwayne Bowe.

  4. 4. nick Says:

No Way Would this Hinder Bowe! Can you imagine how much better Bowe would get with D’s having to decide whether or not to double Johnson or Tony G!! Bowe would have it made all year long! Take TJ Houshmandzadeh as an example, he puts up big numbers with Chad as the double-drawer. This would take the top cover corner off D-Bowe! Rather have that than the top corner covering Bowe and Tony doubled every single play. Getting Chad would be awesome. Thats all if our QB has enough time to even get off a one step drop WR screen!!!!

  5. 5. jt Says:

This addition would make up for the lack of activity so far this off season. Ocho Cinco Would be the biggest pick up King Carl has made since the Joe Montana and Marcus Allen deals. This is a no brainer if it can be done, Ocho will have a positive impact on our locker and will bring some much needed vigor to our offense.

  6. 6. Simon from KC Says:

you guys realize today is April 1st right? and all the “rumors” you’re hearing are BS. I garantee theres a few other fan sites for teams saying the exact same thing. Oh yeah and Brett Favre is coming out of retirement to play for the Chiefs. He’s also talking to Willie Roaf to bring him back.

  7. 7. Jeremy (Riverside, CA) Says:

Nick, for the record, the Bengals pass way more often than the Chiefs, and not even 100 balls a year would keep Chad happy. No way to Chad Johnson!!! We have to keep feeding Bowe. Yes I know its an April fools joke.

  8. 8. MasterBlaster Says:

Yah know the problem with April fools and the internet…someone is gona read this a week from now, not realizing the date, and have a heart attack. Unlike regular news that disappears in a day, internet news sticks around forever. I cant tell you how many times I was reading an article, saying WTF, only to realize it was dated 2003.

  9. 9. Donovan Says:

It would be a good addition if there was any other way of working the deal. Giving up a 2nd round pick is huge, especially at our position. If we did trade our second round pick, we would most likely have to trade our 5th pick for later picks to get a LT and other Line picks. If we don’t get a LT with our first pick we don’t get one until our 3rd round pick. This would be a drastic difference in quality of Lineman.

  10. 10. thechiefsarrow Says:

the only chad johnson the Chiefs will have in training camp is the corner we signed.

  11. 11. Jesse Says:

Only way i see this happening is if we trade Allen to Philly for there 1st and Lito Sheapard.

Then they would have there wide out and corner issues resolved. They would only hav’t to focus on line help on either side.

This could be true because Carl and Herm know they dont have 3 years to turn it around because Clark said they better not be worse than last year or the house cleaning begins.

  12. 12. g.l. Says:

I thinko, Ocho Cinco, stinko! I need a drinko.

    Happy April 1st!

  13. 13. steve baslee Says:

chad I can live with, elway steakhouse I have to get a couple of tatoos removed

  14. 14. merlinnj Says:

    mmmmm April 1st…. lol

  15. 15. John Says:

    1) To all of the people that are taking this seriously, thank you for the laughs!

    2) WE WILL NOT TRADE JARED ALLEN!!! Don’t even use that in speculation, because it won’t happen. He is a stud, the Chiefs know he is a stud, and the Chiefs know he is THEIR stud. Carl didn’t trade Derrick Thomas, and he won’t trade Allen. – okay, no more ranting. Happy April 1st!

  16. 16. Michael San Diego Says:

John, Don’t be so quick to say no. If we sent Jared to Philly for Lito Shephard and their 1st round pick, we could draft Dorsey or Ellis or Ghoulston at #5 and still get a stud OT in the first round, like Chris Williams. I would hate to see that because I like Jared’s play, but I DON’T like his attitude about being tagged as our Franchise Player. He should be happy with the tag! It gives him at a minimum a huge salary for this year and the possibility of getting a lot more if they come to a deal. Not to mention, once an alcoholic always an alcoholic! Trust me, my Mother is one!

  17. 17. ilamuku Says:

    Good one. No really…good one.

  18. 18. Crane Says:

Big Tymers comes to mind…I’m from the ghetto homie…I was raised on bread and BALONEY

  19. 19. kcchiefsfan56 Says:

i like this i really do even though he runs his mouth alot he has the talent to back it up carl pull the trigger

  20. 20. kcchiefsfan56 Says:

speaking of that does anybody know what the hell is going on with jared allen???

  21. 21. Jeremy (Riverside, CA) Says:

    Two Questions:

Hawaii QB Colt Brennan is to undergo ortho surgery on his hip. He will most likely drop to the late rounds (4 to 7). Do we take a chance on him? Anyone got any info on thiis guy? What do you think?

Also, What about Shane Olivea? Any word at all?

(I have not heard a thing about Jared Allen by the way kcchiefsfan56).

  22. 22. rob Says:

does any one see the video on the Qb from Louisville on here who is number 7 there WR can sopme one look into it and see how good he is i seen him on that tape i think his good and kc well get dmc if his there they kc wants a power running game

  23. 23. Herm Edwards Says:

I totally fell for it. No, really.

  24. 24. matt Says:

What is the real truth about this, why would Chad even want to play for us. No offense, but we are not better then the bengals. Besides do you have a link.

  25. 25. Adam Says:

Wow, Matt. Hook, line and sinker, huh?

And no new news on the One Man Gang, aka Jared Allen.
