McShay Must Read A.A.

Here’s something from Todd McShay backing up my latest mock that I chatjacked. Jake Long ain’t gonna make it to the Chiefs, folks. From ESPN:

matt, philly, pa: Since nobody thinks Jake Long is a true Left Tackle, do you think the Chiefs would be better off drafting Dorsey, Ryan, or even Clady if they were available at No. 5?

SportsNation Todd McShay: I think he is, some maybe I am nobody. I know some people have mentioned concerns, but I do not share them. In fact, the closer we gert to Draft day, the more it makes sense to me that the Miami will end up taking Jake Long at No.1. I know everyone is talking about Chris Long, but it would not surprise me one bit if Bill Parcells solidifies that line by taking Jake.

            BallHype: hype it up!

WOW, even Todd McShay has typos. Where is TIM? Tim head over to ESPN and make those corrections…

  2. 2. Adam Says:

    Tim?

  3. 3. Taylor Says:

Yeah, either he failed the grammer part of english class or he was drunk when he wrote it. I see like 3 or 4 mistakes in that little paragraph.

  4. 4. Jeremy (Riverside, CA) Says:

If you think we have issues at who were going to take at #5. Just think about what the Dolphins have to go through. They basically need a whole new team.

  5. 5. Taylor Says:

and he didnt even answer the part of the question about who the chiefs should take…

That is what makes this draft so hard to predict. The teams above us could logically go in different directions. Right now, I feel most comfortable with the idea that ATL will take Ryan and OAK taking Run DMC. However, that is not set in stone.

  7. 7. stevenh Says:

Todd McShay says it so it’s fact? Come on, he knows no more about who is going to take who than you, me or anybody else does. Don’t forget, these analyst and reporters do alot of favors for teams and agents so they will be given information on a breaking story before anybody else. You scratch my back I’ll scratch yours relationship.

  8. 8. Adam Says:

For some reason I just don’t think the Raiders are going to take Run DMC. They like Fargas and have really high hopes for Michael Bush. They also stil have Jordan and Rhodes, for now.

  9. 9. merlinnj Says:

Adam: The reason I think that OAK would probably take Run DMC is that the rumor is that Al Davis is in love with him. You know how Al goes for those fast game changers.

  10. 10. Adam Says:

Steven, they are privy to plenty of information. They do have more info and resources than we have. Any statement like this is definitely worth noting. McShay talks to everybody and is as big as it gets draft-wise. He knows what he’s talking about. Chris Long is no lock at one. Don’t get you feathers all ruffled because Jake Long is going to be gone. The Kool-Aid might taste good, but eventually it’s going to be aqua colored or maybe even blue and gold instead of maize and navy.

  11. 11. Simon from KC Says:

I don;t get how anyone thinks DMC will be around for us. You know crazy ol’ darth vader (Al Davis) Is too crazy to use his logic. DMC is definately too sexy an option for him to pass up.

  12. 12. mike Says:

Lei’s just hope Clady is not a serious consideration. I’m also starting to be down with RUN/DMC at5 if Big Jake is gone. There is absolutely no doubt that that pick would have more value than any other. It may not be a big need at this time, but the talent and value would be inargueable. The worst mock config I;ve seen so far is 1. Long OT 2. Long DE 3. Ellis 4. Dorsey…yeesh…..

I wish there was a definite top ten CB. That would make everything better. I hate to admit it as I had bashed the idea before, but the more I watch on the guy the more I get the feeling that DRC is probably the closest thing to top ten that we are going to see. If he had seen slightly tougher compitition, was more physical, and bulked up a little, he very well could be worthy of a top 7 selection. The guy has amazing speed, instincts, ball skills and change of direction. He goes from a backpeddal to a sprint without a hitch. If we are crazy assed enough to draft Ryan at 5, what about DRC? I’m kinda playing with ideas here, and there are guys I’d rather have, but most mocks do have him going in the top ten, to either the Pats, Ravens, Bengals, or Saints. This is more than I can say for Clady who is usaully on his way to Denver, Carolina, or Chicago. Just exploring possibilities here, I encourage you guys to go watch the game footage and combine position drills of DRC and let me know what you think.

  14. 14. bigchief13 Says:

Like I say there are guys I’d rather have, but we are also in dire need of a CB.

  15. 15. bigchief13 Says:

Heres a crazy idea that won’t happen but…. I heard that New England is said to be interested in DMC. Not sure why but thats what I heard. If we could swap places with NE and get an extra pick, drafting DRC outside of top 5 would be an easier pill to swallow. Plus we’d have an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick. I don’t see this happening and think it would be stupid for New England, but it could be nice for us.

  16. 16. rob Says:

ok ok here whats up jack long well go 1 Chris Long will go number two Dorsey, Ryan, or even Clady well go three and DMC well still be there but the chiefs well f up b/c of carl and we should get him even tho we have l j just in case he get hurt like last year even tho smith is good to me but we are not going to take a pick at 5 guy so start looking at where we will fall and what guy well be there at the time b/c we dont need or have to take a o line men with are frist pick at all b/c there is soooo many good one this year

  17. 17. Ian Brennan Says:

Jake Long i don’t know if you knew that or you really thought his name was jack but its jake

  18. 18. Scott Says:

Ahh! My eyes hurt. You would think that ESPN could afford an editor. Tim – go get ‘em!

  19. 19. merlinnj Says:

rob: can you repost that in…. english??

  20. 20. jason Says:

watch the video. DRC will be good. real good. also some people think highly of talib and put down drc on level of comp, well 1ST ill say again im a huge ku fan, but other than Mizzou talib played against the same level this last yr.

  21. 21. jason Says:

lets talk trade down, what about minn. #1 #3 and mckinney(lt) for #5?

  22. 22. jason Says:

    sorry tim mckinnie

  23. 23. jason Says:

also on DRC he might not be worthy of a top5 but if jlong isnt there i think thats our 2nd position of need and bc13 is right is otah, clady, or DRC the better to reach for? ill take drc and go t in the 2nd then wr then owen schmitt

  24. 24. bigchief13 Says:

that’d be a nice deal but I’m not sure minn. would want to part with a guy like Mckinnie.

  25. 25. jason Says:

also just halfassed kidding on talib’s level of comp but ku’s level of comp DID leave something to be desired

  26. 26. jason Says:

look he got in trouble ( bar fight) pled not guilty childress and the owner zygli wilff are said to be looking LT in the draft to replace him he might be too old for us checked his exp. after posting it will be his 8TH yr

  27. 27. Crane Says:

I bet the Bears would talk trade. That town has to be on the verge of riot each time Grossman throws a pick. Gimmie Hester for the pick.

  28. 28. bigchief13 Says:

Trading with the bears and then grabbing Otah or Clady wouldn’t be so bad. The only problem is that someone in that organization has some real strong wood for Grossman and may not be in the market for another QB this year.
