Way to go Adam! I can always count on you to bring us the 411 on all of these prospects.
March 18th, 2008 at 9:18 pmno, no, no -NO! – Just say NO!
March 18th, 2008 at 9:59 pmDid I say no – I meant "Hell No"
March 18th, 2008 at 10:01 pmDave – Not that I am Matt Ryan’s #1 fan, but why the no? Please explain more, I only get NO and HELL NO from anti-Ryan people.
March 18th, 2008 at 10:36 pmRyan is a mediocre 2nd round talent, the best of a dreadful lot of rookie QB’s. Croyle needs a FULL shot. If he flops, then we’ll be in a position to draft a top QB in what has to be a better class than this next year. If he develops, we have our QB, with more ability than Ryan.
March 18th, 2008 at 11:19 pmSo I don’t want to scoop Adam for tomorrow but it appears we are looking at Ryan. Don Banks from Sports Illustrated did a piece on it… http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/don_banks/03/18/ryan.proday/1.htmlThey are projecting Ryan as a DEFINITE 1st rounder Blue…I think we could trade our 5 pick to Carolina (10) and still get Clady and maybe one of their later picks too. This is if Jake Long isn’t available….mind you.
March 19th, 2008 at 12:24 amI am so out of it with the Chiefs… Im just gonna start talking non-sense to make myself feel better… You can feel free to agree or disagree… Chad Johnson just said that for HIM, "Its NOT about the money." That he wants a "change of scenery"… Wow. What a thought. The Ocho-Cinco, Bro Cro and D.Bowe Show!! Hahaha! Dang… Only in dreams, right? We couldnt even try hard enough to snatch Bryant Johnson…. On another note… I think (If Jake Long is gone) and CHRIS Long is there… We take the guy and use him as a LB (considering that he worked out today in space like a LB, IN WHICH he said he felt comfortable with. He also said that he can do and be whatever a team needs him to do and or be) or we can put Tamba at DT and Long at his spot…. but if not Ofcourse, Im all for Dorsey. He’s like camping… Just too intense… Get it? In-tents… Inte— … Its a joke… Nevermind… Freak this offseason. Im pissed.
March 19th, 2008 at 1:09 amI’m with you on this offseason, apparently we’re just going to have to pray for a miraculous draft if next season is going to be bearable. Hey, if we draft Ryan (which I am more than fine with, solid kid who made his mediocre surrounding cast look a hell of a lot better), can we keep Kelli Croyle around?
March 19th, 2008 at 1:18 amIf we draft Ryan he and brodie, tyler thigpen, david greene, damon huard and whoever else we pull off the street will be in the hospital. You will ruin two or possibly even three guys who could work out fine with some protection. Look at what happened to David Carr after getting eaten in Texas for years. If we come up with some decent O-lineman before the draft I’d think about it, otherwise, we get ourselves into the right spot to grab some good O-linemen.
March 19th, 2008 at 7:08 amZach – not to be rude, but what was your first clue -how can I be any more clear…..I am "ANTI RYAN PEOPLE"…..Look - he isn’t even the best Quarterback in the Draft – Brohm is, and I don’t mind stating it on record……..also, when Brohm started having bad season and Petrino ditched Atlanta it was then and only then that Ryan and Woodsen went up the Draft……by the way, Woodsen got his shot at the top spot first……are you telling me for those few weeks that he was worth our #5 pick – NO……I wanted Brohm almost all year but I realized as we kept losing that "NO QUARTERBACK" was worth our top pick this year – the media is forcing him down Miami/Atlanta/Chiefs/Baltimore’s throats and I am not buying…….he isn’t even a great athlete or can make all of the NFL throws…..sowhat if he did it in his pro day…..all year everyone kept pointing out how he would get an INT anytime he tried some of the harder NFL throws……..to his credit, everyone talks about how he has "it" and can will his team to a win…….well la de freakin da…….this is just my HUMBLE opinion and by all means I am not saying he will be a bust in the NFL……..But if we take him over Jake Long/Dorsey/Ellis/McFadden/Chris Long/Gholston I will be pissed……as mentioned before – after all of my whining about Clady, I am going to say that I would rather have Clady!!!!!!…..I honestly believe this is a smoke screen – and if the chiefs were really serious about a QB it is going to be in the 2nd round…………..there – now I feel a bit better.
March 19th, 2008 at 8:36 amby the way – someone else is using the name Dave….I don’t want to get it confused so I am changing my name to playaction31
March 19th, 2008 at 8:40 amI just want everyone to know that I am extremely confused and frustrated about the Chiefs moves/non-moves this offseason. They don’t have to get the "big names" and blow tons of money, but some help where help is needed is a must. What are they doing. —- I agree, if the choose Ryan, so be it. I will back him, but who is going to block for him? Where is Shane Olivea? Anyone with any info on him?
March 19th, 2008 at 10:29 amCornelius I loved that! I would want to keep Kelli too….
Dave – Not really sure what Coach Petrino and Brhom had anything to do together last season since they never were on the same team.
Iagree with you that most think a QB should go in the top 5 and Ryan became that guy. I think he is a very capable QB that could be a solid starter. He does have a tendnecy to throw interceptions, but he also didn’t have the best WR corp out there.
I am actually a Joe Flacco guy. I think he has the potential to be the best QB in this draft and would love for us to use our 2nd round pick on him.
How would you feel about trading up in the lat first round to get Brohm? Most people are talking some team will trade up to get him like Brady Quinn last year.
March 19th, 2008 at 10:36 amDave, I am in your boat on the Ryan topic. Zach, I like Flacco too, but I’m not sure we can afford a 2nd on him or even 3rd with all our other problems. I wouldn’t mind taking a shot at Josh Johnson later in the draft. 43 passing td’s to 1 int. I don’t care if you are playing flag football, you definatly got some skills when you put up those #’s. In two years, his total Td’s = 90 (13 rushing I think), while total Ints =4. The knock on him is that he is Brodie Croyle thin, and has not played against crazy good competition. Worth a late shot in my opinion.
March 19th, 2008 at 11:21 amI too think and hope the Ryan idea is all smoke. I have a feeling the Chiefs will draft Otah. Not in slot 5, but sometime later. I think that they must already have a potential partner too. Dallas has to know that the Jets will either go with DMC or Gholston, so if they want DMC and he is still there at 5, that’s the ticket.
March 19th, 2008 at 11:25 amI just don’t see the chiefs giving up on Croyle this early. Next year if croyle doesn’t work out then i see us seriously considering getting a QB. we need to take the tackle, and then get a Receiver or a guard in the second round.
March 19th, 2008 at 11:53 amHerm and Carl wouldn’t be checking out Ryan if they believed in Croyle. IMHO.
March 19th, 2008 at 12:51 pmZach – my point about Brohm and Petrino was that Brohm was a sure bet to go to Atlanta while he was there. Brohm was always the top quarterback and Ryan was no where to be found until Petrino left – then everyone in the NFL/Media/Mock drafters started looking for the next best QB and it first went to Woodsen and then Ryan…….so to me that says that none of the QB’s are top 5 worthy but instead they needed to throw someone up there and Ryan had the best year……..that hardly makes him a top talent in my book……Ryan is the same as Clady in my book – both are great football players, and if we traded down to get them great……but in the 5 spot we would be crazy to reach for them……just my two cents
March 19th, 2008 at 12:58 pmIf they weren’t serious about Ryan, they would not have sent the whole management squad. If you’re Crolye and see the pictures with Herm and Ryan, you know you’re cooked.
March 19th, 2008 at 1:38 pmThere were more players than Ryan at that pro day. Say, for example, a certain O-lineman.
March 19th, 2008 at 2:20 pmBrohm is not better than Ryan, for starters. I’ll get to that in my next post.
Merlinnj, love ya buddy, but if you think that we sent Carl, Chan and Herm to check out Gosder Cherilus, then you are in a serious state of denial. All three wouldn’t go if Jake Long had a Pro Day.
March 19th, 2008 at 3:16 pmAll this talk is depressing, here is a link to something that might cheer a few up. If you’ve ever been watching Emmitt Smith talk and been like, WTF?!, this might clear some things up. Or not. http://walterfootball.com/emmitt.php
March 19th, 2008 at 4:59 pmI think Ryan will make a decent quarterback in the NFL. Anyone that watches him can see that he’s not going to be the next Joe Montana. If I thought he was I’d be all for drafting him even though I believe Croyle deserves another chance. The thing is, Joe Montana wouldn’t have been Joe Montana without help. You’ve got to build a team up, and then pull the quarterback card. A great team is carried by a great quarterback, but a great team is not built by a great quarterback. How many more potential big time quarterbacks careers have to be killed by being drafted by a team without the necessary people around him to help him along the way before teams learn from the mistakes made by others? Personally, I’m changing the channel.
March 19th, 2008 at 5:05 pmHeres some good news… St.Louis (aka our biggest Jake Long taker threat) is bringing Glenn Dorsey in for a 2 day visit… ALSO Vernon Gholston’s stock seems to be rising like crazy… We know that Ryan is being looked at by MIA and ATL, so theres an odd man out… Either thats Matt Ryan or Chris Long… This is gonna be intersting.
March 19th, 2008 at 6:30 pmhey, I’m a Falcon fan here….like trolling the other team sites to see what everybody is thinking on draft picks. The guys on message board at http://www.atlantafalcons.com absolutely HATE Matt Ryan and the general "thought" is that the Falcons will wait until one of their three(yes three!) 2nd round picks to address QB – maybe move into bottom of 1st – to get the QB.So, you guys can "forget" that the Falcons are taking Ryan – we are not! I don’t think Dolphins are either – so, if Edwards/Peterson want him – he will be their for KC. I agree with you guys that you would be better served avoiding Matt Ryan – he is O-V-E-R-A-T-E-D!!! Mike Mayock has shamelessly promoted him and they have connection (same college alum/personal relationship – Ryan works at Mayocks football camp).Falcons will probably take either Glen Dorsey or Jake Long at #3 (assuming one of them falls). We could have "trade action" if Jets/Cowboys want McFadden – assuming Jets do trade w/ Falcons(we pick up Jets 2nd rounder – to have four 2nd rounders!), then it interests me what you guys(KC Chiefs) would do at #5. If the following were "off the board" (Chris Long, Jake Long, Glen Dorsey, Darren McFadden) – who do you guys take? Sedrick Ellis? Ryan Clady? Jeff Otah? Matt Ryan?(i’m thinking that’s a "NO – ha!) My fear for the Falcons is that you guys would take Sedrick Ellis – what say you?
March 20th, 2008 at 10:12 pmI would go Ellis. Or trade.
March 21st, 2008 at 12:58 pmheres a idea but a long shot as well for cheifs to be maybe sucessful for next season…Lets say i was the GM(i wish) what i would do is trade my 1st round pick NEXT YEAR and like a 3rd and 7th pick this year to any of the top 4 teams in the draft (Miami, St. Louis, Atlanta or Oakland) and try to get two frachise players in maybe glenn doresy and jake long of chris long and jeff otah or whatever players they might wana pick up but thats just me what do you think about this?
