Well, if we have a deal like the Gasol one fall in our laps we'll take it, bit otherwise we will have to work damn hard to make the rebuilding effort work.

I love what Herm is doing. Do I back it up as much as the Chiefs are? No. No way... I mean, I think the perfect example of a "Youth Movement" is (different sport) but the Los Angeles Lakers. When they let go of Gary Payton, Shaq, and Derrick Fisher everyone (including me) thought "What the hell are they doing??" And granted they did bad for a season, but now they have Kobe and young guys who've been stepping it up this season. And suddenly they've become one of the better teams in the Western Conference... BUT may we NOT forget, they ALSO brought in Pao Gasol.... And now they just became so much better. Gasol made Odom's play that much better... And THATS what I think we need to do. Bring in at least ONE big name guy like D.Hall or Max Starks to lift team morale and play. We'd be surprised how much one or two sigings can make a team better.... Just a thought.

Another point I would like to make is this; You have two kinds of teams that spend heavily in Free Agency. The first is the team that has screwed up the draft, their picks didn't develop and they have to go sign someone else's (Raiders). Then you have the teams that are really close to going all the way, and they spend to build a power house for one, maybe two seasons (Patriots). Then you have everyone else.

Jeremy, I agree, going into the draft needing three starters on the OLine is insane. g.l. --you lost me when you said Chan Gailey would improve the offense but not enough. You have to look at what Chan did wherever he went as an Offensive Coor. Those teams went to the playoffs, and even won a Super Bowl. Chan can not only improve the offense, but he can build one that can go all the way.

Macintosh will probably stay at left tackle...he played well there when he wasn't hurt and he was never a good right tackle anywhere else he was, If we get Long Long would be an outstanding amazing right tackle, combine with niswanger waters and whoever is at center should be alot better line...our defense will be top ten this year only if we can get pressure on the Qb, and right now i don't see that happening with the DT we have sure we have Allen and Hali but we still need to get more pressure and we need to stop the reun better, i still say Sedrick Ellis first round Sam Baker or Gosder Cherilus second round but hey i'll probably hear some crap about that

Without a doubt the Chiefs are going to have to sign some other players rather than just adding new players from the draft. Frankly, I hope the chiefs sign Justin Hatwig. Jake Long at left tackle (from the draft), Waters and Niswanger at the guard positions, D-Mac at right tackle, and Hartwig at center. That would be a much improved o-line. Tre Stallings and whoever else could be picked up in the draft could be the reserves. That would also fit nicely with Chan G.'s offensive philosophy. Although I am not sold on "smash mouth football", that is apparently Mr. G.'s forte and is what the new "Kansas City offense" will consist of.

No worries guy, me and my buddies are going to put on 200 lbs and get totally ripped and will plug the holes in the o-line.

True dat Jeremy. I heard that Jason Elam has the chiefs pegged as one of the 3 teams he would like to play with. He's old, but one of the better kickers to play. I'd like this much more than what we have now. We will need a good kicker if our lousy offence decides they want to settle for field goals again this year.

Insanity is going into the draft needing three starting lineman, one starting corner, a KR/KP, a true full back, and a kicker who you don't have to worry about over 35 yards! That is insanity!!!

I agree with some of your thoughts, but I still think some of us are being duped a bit. There's not just A.) Signing a ton of big-money FAs; and B.) Doing next to nothing. There's no reason why we can't add four or five more players like Demorrio Williams and Devard Darling via free agency.

And if during this age of parity it takes us more than two or three years max to be back in the hunt, we've really screwed up.
