PhinPhanatic.com is reporting that FB Boomer Grigsby has signed a deal with the Miami Dolphins.
Boomer Grigsby is his name, and well, that’s all I got. Don’t know who he is? No worries, outside of Kansas City, I doubt anyone does. The Miami Dolphins however are now working on the special teams unit, signing the ST player. Last year the special teams was literally a who’s who of short bus riders…no offense to the millions of kids who actually ride one, I would be embarrassed too.
Most Chiefs fans wondered if Boomer would ever play a down again in the NFL. If he did, most thought it would be because it would help sign Jared Allen to a long-term contract. That was not the case, Boomer got picked up by the “Big Tuna”, which says something to me. Parcells is known for liking players who can do multiple things. The Dolphins will now have to see if Boomer can continue improving at his new position.

Good luck to him. Not meant to be a fullback, he’s the kind of guy who should spend a career making an impact on special teams, and I wish him well in Miami.
I will miss Boomer, best of luck to him.
Good Riddance. Just another second tier guy taking up space a legitimate NFL player could use. Time to actually get a real fullback and not someone that couldn’t make it at his natural position.
I like Boomer. I really do… but the only good thing about the guy, was his name.
Good Luck Boomer. We will mis your heart. Boomer never had the speed for a linebacker. He needs to stay at FB.__________ Did you see the Raiders sign Javon Walker…hahahah.. SUCKERS!!! They paid him 55 million. They are handing out money like candy. What a joke, (and they wonder why they suck!).
I hear a lot of talk about wanting "Real Chiefs" or "Character guys". It was pretty obviuos that all this guy wanted to do was play his but off for the Chiefs. He wasn’t super talented, and he was slowed by injury last year, but I think he’s the kind of example you really try to keep on a young rebuilding team. Lucky for him, Parcells feels that way too.
remember boomer is a hitter on special teams… he will make it on the miami suck ass squad… no way he cant make it.
red eye I absolutely agree with you….
just a thought, and not even what I want to happen… but there is a real possability that the chiefs draft a wideout with thier number two pick… it very well could happen…. just throwing it out there,
Redbeard…I hear what your saying and I have thought the same thing. The Chiefs #2 and #3 Receiver (on paper, I realize Eddie was hurt most of last season) are gone. So we have DBowe and….
im gonna bet by the end of training camp we wont even remember his name ! no big loss imo ! yet we picked up another fb thats the very same ! go figure huh !
eh, Boomer. Good riddance. The Dolphins could use a Rudy more than the Chiefs. We already got Herm as our cheerleader.
Did you guys see who Vic Cucci says we will take at #5 (His first mock draft at nfl.com)………..Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas. I don’t see this happening.
If that is how the first four picks go, I hope that the Chiefs Trade with Dallas for their two first rounders. I would hate to take Talib with this pick. I think he will be a bust, but that might be because I am a Mizzou Tiger fan. In the case where we traded with Dallas it looks like all tackles are gone and we could then take Brandon Albert, guard, from Virginia.
Not even worried about it……that is so far out there, no way it happens…..Does the media hate the Chiefs?
First off, I like Talib but picking him at #5 would be insane.
Clinton – Would you be okay with taking Talib (but not with the #5 pick mind you) if the Chiefs were to “balance things out” by also picking Rucker?
As for Boomer, while I wish him well, I’m pretty happy about the move because in my mind it only increases the chances that we’ll use one of our day 2 picks on a true FB – a la Schmitt, Hillis, Collins, Felton, etc.
I actually was friends with Martin Rucker up in St. Joseph and a good friend of mine was best friends with him. I do not think he would fit the Kansas City scheme. This 3 yards and a cloud of dust. I do love MU, but the only player from MU I would like the Chiefs to draft is William Franklin in a late round if we can get him. On the whole Talib thing, if we could get him the second round I would be fine with it, I think he is the 3rd if not 4th best corner in the draft.
Boomer + Miami Dolphins (worst team ever) = Future Arena Football team “Miami Dolphins” LOL
Thank god, Boomers out of here. Weve had it with his hick attidue. Weve had enough, beat it take ur grandma down with you for naming you BOOMER! Jeez I bet you slept with her as well.
Amen to Jake and Jigga. You said it all. I bout pee my pants thats the TRUTH!
its too bad there are so many jealous , wanna be football fans out there ! why u wanna talk smack about a guy thats had the drive and desire to actually do something with his life while you were sitting on your ass at home ,on the couch crying about your team being no good ! take a look at your pityful butt !!
Boomer may not have been the best guy on our team, by far, but he was still one of our better special team’s aces. That’s not saying much, because; well, our ST sucked. But him and Jon ‘Quick-Draw’ McGraw were the only ones I can remember who had a ST tackle just about every game, if not every one of them. If anyone can remember back to when we let Gary Stills go to the Ravens, can anyone tell me what happened to our ST after that? I’m not saying Gary was a badass (although he did make the Pro Bowl one year, as a ST’s specialist.) But when one of the leading tacklers on your special teams, and one of the more emotional, funny, fiery guys, leaves, it’s dis-heartening. It’s analogically comparable to when Willie Roaf left. Green didn’t have that ’security-blanket’ and it was in the back of his mind the whole time. Herm wanted young and energetic players, but we just let one go, after signing a FB off waivers that barely made the Cowboy’s squad last year. With that being said, I’ve stood up for what Herm has done so far this off-season, but this makes me scratch my head. You switch a guy’s position, because we brought in two extra linebackers last year in Edwards and Harris, and then you don’t give him time to get into his role.. Especially when he fits the mould of what Herm is looking for. Odd.
Boomers out! KC you get 1 point! Good boy Carl! Go fetch!
To all of you backing up Boomer, shows what a moron you guys are. Im here at my white collar desk job trying to knock some sense in you guys. This is KC our team, we need to cut the dead weight. He was one of them, how many positions did he play? Stats? Oh he made what? 8 tackles, caught 1 pass. Well he freaking should for the $ they are paying him jeez, he shoudve done 30 times better for the $. Bottom line if u cant perform your job, beat it. GO to AFL, CFL or EFL.
People get signed to other teams all the time. Just because someone doesnt do well in one atmospher doesnt mean they wont triumph in another. One player comes to mind: Priest Holmes. was avg in baltimore and shined in KC. Good Luck to Boomer and I hope he does well in Miami. As long as our first day picks goes toward a DB and Offensive linemen I will be happy. Dwayne Bowe has all the skills to be a number 1 receiver and Bobby Sippio has all the talent to make it in the NFL. KC really needs to sign a veteran wideout to bring Brodie Croyle along, Maybe Peerless Price or if Keyshawn makes a comeback.
Peerless Price? Chris are you kidding me?
I agreed with everything else, but I almost spit my drink on my monitor reading that.
I personally know boomer and he will be greatly missed in KC. Please stop hating on him cause this guy is a GREAT football player. Not only does he have drive and determination, he is educated, has an amazing personality, and not to mention SEXY!! So put your jealousy aside and just be happy for the guy. and for the record his "Hick Attitude " is why KC fell in love with him in the first place.
“…this guy is a GREAT football player. Not only does he have drive and determination, he is educated, has an amazing personality, and not to mention SEXY!!”
Yeah. Because that’s what makes a good football player.
Don’t get me wrong though: I really liked Boomer Grigsby. I also liked Jared Allen and Eddie Kennison.
Shit changes. It sucks, but hopefully it’s for the better. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope our 12 draft picks this year pan out.
For those of you that are bashing Boomer Grigsby. I’m going to ask one question Did you ever make the NFL? This guy has more talent and work ethic than most NFL players today. I think you need to look at the dolphins operations staff. You don’t go from starting at fullback and playing one game, to getting let go. Come on people get real. What kind of operations are they running. I don’t think I would be bashing someone like Boomer that did not even carry the football in high school or college. Boomer can play football. You call him a heck, don’t you think that is a little personal. Where did you come from? Did you play in the NFL? Do you know the history with Boomer Grigsby? Bill Parcels can’t stay with one team. What is his committment to one team? get real.
