Stray Arrows: Pacman To K.C.?

Pacman Jones (Pacman Jonesin’)

Nashville’s The City Paper reports that the Tennessee Titans have given Pacman Jones permission to seek a trade. If we strikeout on free agent corners and DeAngelo Hall’s price tag becomes too high, then shouldn’t we consider this? Troy Williamson–who went one pick after Jones in the same draft–only netted the Vikes a sixth-round pick. Couldn’t we get Pacman and all his baggage for a fifth and nothing more?

He’s a great corner and an even better return man–half Dale Carter, half Dante Hall. At that price, wouldn’t he be worth it? We could always cut him if he acted a fool again. Wouldn’t Herm Edwards be the perfect person to reach him, though? Pretty young black head coach, players’ coach, used to be a defensive back himself, etc. I think the move is definitely worth a shot if we strikeout elsewhere. It would also show that the front office is willing to take some chances in order to restore the franchise.

We already went here once, but given what we know now what is everybody thinking?

    What??? NO!!

Well, I’m kind of like the drunk guy at the bar right now who started off the night talking to 10s, but will take anything above a seven at this point–even with baggage.

The Chiefs are making me feel desperate and dirty. Not a very happy camper with them right now.

But seriously, for a fifth when we have ten picks, what’s the risk? Why not bring him in? We pretty much have zero bad apples on the team. I think Tony, Brian, Jared and Co. can help reel him in. Why not do this if we strikeout.

WE HAVE TO SIGN OR TRADE FOR A CB. We have no other options.

  3. Double D says:

LOL :) I’m feeling too much pain just thinking about a guy like Pac Man coming into what could easily be another difficult season – especially amidst a team that will be half full of rookies and 2nd yr players. Eeecchh!!!

  4. Dave says:

If you are careful how you work the contract – and if you don’t rush to get him then I would be …….ehhh…iffy on him…….I don’t want the Chiefs to become Cinncinati in the fact that they will take anyone……but you are right – done the right way then you could drop him at any moment without the big "hit"……just don’t make it appear that we are desperate for him

  5. Double D says:

Has he even been cleared to play?

  6. Double D says:

I’d prefer the Chiefs invested in players with character rather than drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors.

  7. Adam says:

He hasn’t yet been cleared, so that is another obstacle. I think he will be if he can stay out of trouble and jail. Jamal Lewis went to prison and is now playing.

Really, what I’m saying is that this isn’t a bad back-up plan at all. I still prefer Hall, who had a better YPA last year than even Samuel (just ask K.C. Joyner, the Football Scientist or whatever).

  8. Jeremy says:

I am all for this……..go ahead and Boo, but you wont be when he is picking off passes and running back kicks for tds.

  9. ilamuku says:

I agree with Dave and Jeremy.  We don’t want to look desperate but we want to make it clear that he is a liability.  I say take a shot…I mean give him a chance!  :)

  10. CWebb says:

I would love it if we made it a contract that hinged on being heard from on the field and no off the field. Seriously. Additionally, I believe that if this contract was to be offered, the terms of it must be made public. Keep this guy accountable to what he agrees to do.

  11. Adam says:

If he flakes out, then cut him. But his salary won’t be bad and if we ended up getting an All-Pro CB/RS for a fifth rounder it would be a coup.

  12. Crane says:

    make it rain biznatches!

  13. Scott says:

Yeah, that would be great…..for the Titans!  I’d take a 5th round pick over Pacman any day.   This is all irrelevant anyway.  Herm has stated that he bases quite a bit of his decision making on character.  He would NEVER allow Pacman to be signed to the team.  Come on people this isn’t Oakland.

  14. Cornelius says:

He’s the biggest waste of talent I’ve ever seen. But if anyone can whip him into shape, it might be Herman "What Is The Internet" Edwards.
