Of course, we’re thrilled that Dustin Colquitt is going to be a Chief for a long, long time. But what about the rest of free agency? We kind of feel like Cousin Eddie’s kids from Christmas Vacation on Christmas Eve right about now–worried we won’t get squat.
Are the Chiefs asleep at the wheel? Paging Carl Peterson…Chuck Cook… Bill Kuharich… Herman Edwards..Ray Farmer…ANYONE!?
I was dead serious about my Arrowhead boycott by the way. And that’s not being disloyal, that’s being loyal. Loyal to the NFL’s best fans first, the players as well, while letting the cheapos in the front office know how I feel. I will still get all the games via Direct TV. I will still wear more Chiefs garb than any one man should own. I’ll still write for Arrowhead Addict. What I won’t do, however, is continue to pad Clark Hunt’s pockets for a commitment to mediocrity. If that commitment continues, I suggest that other Chiefs fans get aboard the boycott train as well.
The Chiefs must do something this weekend to let their fans know that they want to win. Hell, the Cowboys, Patriots and Redskins give their fans another effin’ Christmas every late February–what about us? We get stuck with second-rate signings. They get Tickle Me Elmo, we get Delmo, a copycat ripoff that doesn’t do jack shit when you tickle him. For you younger ones, they get new PS3s, we get stuck with refurbished PS2s.
Jeff Faine would be a great start, but I’m even scared we won’t get him. It’s already looking like we won’t get Drayton Florence (‘Skins) or Donte’ Stallworth (Bears). The lack of news is just killing me. Maybe it’s just that we’re targeting a hoard of under-the-radar guys. I don’t know what it is, but the front office better not be sitting on their asses right now. If they are, I’m going to be sitting on mine at home for all eight of the Chiefs 2008 home games. Argh…more to come…

AWESOME! FREAKIN AWESOME! GO Get’em Adam!
Hate to break it to you – but all I have seen is that Tampa Bay is in the Faine sweepstakes…….which brings up my point……why aren’t we atleast throwing our name out there to get the fans excited……do I want stallworth – yes, but if the price tag kept going up, up, up…….then I wouldn’t be so pissed when the Chiefs say no….but how is it that we are hearing almost NOTHING about anybody with the Chiefs!!!!!…….I agree that if I get a frikin tickle me DELMO I am going to be on strike with you
Who knew that Tickle Me Delmo and Carl Peterson would become synonymous? King Carl, you are on the clock…
8 & 1/2 hours and counting……tick…….tock……tick….tock
Actually, 5 1/2. Our counter is an hour off because it should be EST, not CST. Let’s do something, Chiefs!
Sorry, but this whole "they better sign somebody… OR ELSE!" thing is hilarious. What year is this, 2005? We’re not a piece or two away. The team is rebuilding and this FA market is crap. You mentioned the Cowboys and Redskins. What have they won lately? The Patriots had one season of making big FA moves and they didn’t get a ring to show for it. Their rings came from strong drafts and smart, underrated FA signings, which is the exact thing KC should do. If you’re seriously expecting a parade of FAs to come running through Arrowhead tomorrow, prepare now to be disappointed.
What do you expect? Herm and Clark have said multiple times that we are building through the DRAFT. Besides, who needs the overpriced big names anyway? We all saw how the last several worked out…(Law)
We want young, proven FA’s, of which there are several in positions of need. If this isn’t a make or break offseason for the front office, I don’t know what is. I don’t expect the Chiefs to go 13-3 next year and I doubt anyone will expect them to make the playoffs. But a .500 team isn’t much to ask. The line between shit and Super Bowl in the NFL is so thin you can cross it with one pivotal draft choice or FA signing.
