Darren McFadden Runs A 4.27 40
If OT Jake Long didn’t impress you yesterday, maybe RB Darren McFadden will. McFadden just ran a 4.27 40-yard dash. Right now that is his unofficial time, but it looks like McFadden didn’t hurt himself by running at the combine. Matter of fact, he might have made himself the top pick with someone looking to trade up to get him. (somewhere Jerry Jones is drooling)
McFadden was also rumored to have a slight leg injury and many people wondered why he was running. Today he showed he is a competitor, just like Adrian Peterson did last year at the combine. There is no way he slips like Purple Jesus did last year. The only way would be if his off-the-field problems scare teams away, but I think a 4.2 40 will make all of those people forget about those problems.

I love that the kid can run… but as allot of people have been saying,… follow if you can… we should go after B. Johnson from Arizona, why because he was buried behind two great recievers… so again why draft … this runner… I know special plays…ok what special plays, behind this o-line… ? we saw last year what drafting a star player does, and then getting backups the rest of the draft… none of which are even consdiered to be starters even this year… evidenced by people wanting to draft yet again another DT…
February 24th, 2008 at 2:49 pmWow, now that’s fast. Let someone fall in love with him and take him in the top 4. Are you listening, Jerry Jones?
February 24th, 2008 at 2:58 pmthanks merlin… and I still say Claddy is the better Tackle
February 24th, 2008 at 3:03 pmI love that we could have Fitz, playing with bowe…I dont care that he is a number one wideout… if he plays the number two possition who cares… why not have two great wideouts to help break open this offense even in our run first scheme… add him and our first two o-linemen that we draft this year… along with one frre agent lineman… and the offence is back along with the *D*
February 24th, 2008 at 3:06 pmbut dont get me wrong , I wouldnt cry if they had long but I dont see him being there at five.
February 24th, 2008 at 3:08 pmYikes! That’s blazing.
February 24th, 2008 at 3:11 pmFitz and Boldin were hurt a lot last year, another thing to consider. So not only could Fitz be injury prone, but Bryant Johnson had his chances. Zach and I play fantasy football like crazy and had Direct Ticket. We saw the dude play a bunch (we had Edge and Warner on some of our teams). He is nothing worth getting excited over. I still don’t see how we land Fitz either. I think Redbeard is just doing what he does and playing the contrarian here.
February 24th, 2008 at 3:15 pmnot me never, someone has to, too…..
February 24th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
February 24th, 2008 at 3:21 pmsee being around the chiefs and stupid carl… I have seen him go off… deff. off.(a great one albeit)… and now back to the deff… it wont suprise me to see the chiefs draft ellis… and I wont be completly pissed(I will but),…having the facts of Mac and yesterdays Long, come out they will both probably be gone… so that makes me see only going with ellis or claddy… the choice isnt that hard and we will be allot better off with either one here in KC
February 24th, 2008 at 3:23 pmThis is great for us if Jake Long is gone by the #5 pick. Now, we have an even better chance of trading down. Either way, I’ll be happy because Long seems to have all the correct indicators of being a great NFL player. 37 reps. Nuff’ sed.
February 24th, 2008 at 3:35 pmWhat a slow poke
February 24th, 2008 at 3:44 pmIlamuku… WE Wont get LONG…he’ll be gone.we will get Claddy or Ellis… and Ellis isnt a garauntee either…he could well be gone as well…
February 24th, 2008 at 5:40 pmRedbeard I love that we finally agree on something
February 24th, 2008 at 5:49 pmYou know what…. redbeard… You MUST be inspired by demons who can tell the future, bro. Cause you sound so effin’ sure as if you seen Goodell on the stage say " With the 2nd pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select Jake Long, left tackle from Michigan." … For reals, its pretty annoying for someone to say "he’s gonna be gone, he’s gonna be gone." Dude, YOU dont know. People thought Reggie Bush would go 1. In that same draft Matt Lienart slipped way down. Did you expect that? Did you expect Adrian Peterson to slip past 5? Dude, people ALL week were saying that Zach Thomas was going to either New England and or New Orlenes… Where is he at now??? Dallas! No one saw that! … You dont know. No one knows. If he falls to us, awesome! If he gets picked 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th… Then so be it. But til then, if people wanna hope, think, or guess that we’d be able to get Jake Long… then let it be. God. Plus, Jake Long was the superstar Saturday… but DMC showed up and now everyone cant seem to stop talking about him. So you figure it out.
February 24th, 2008 at 6:57 pmnfl.com is reporting McFadden’s time as 4.33, and Chris Johnson at 4.24, I don’t know if thats a typo, but thats damn fast if it isn’t. Also, I agree with ROC, all of this is speculation, and no one knows whats going to happen, Its damn frustrating when anyone (even NFL experts) declares anything as inevitable.
February 24th, 2008 at 7:16 pmLook at the inevitability of last year. Many analysts at the 2007 Draft thought the Chiefs were going to take Joe Staley, and we picked Dwayne Bowe (Thank God). I’m not knocking Staley, but i think the right choice was made. It’s incredibly hard to revamp your team in one draft. And I do believe that we are slowly, but surely, revamping or team. It’s going to take some time. This draft is going to be crucial. I do believe, in my personal opinion, that this might be the best draft class EVER! The only position seeming to be lacking is Safety, Center, and WR. Everything else is loaded. There’s no way one can speculate who is taken in the draft this early. In an ideal world i can only hope that we can land guys like Jake Long, Branden Albert, Chris Johnson, Owen Schmitt, Josh Johnson/Kevin O’Connell, and Dexter Jackson.
February 24th, 2008 at 7:35 pmhttp://www.kansascity.com/sports/chiefs/story/502663.html Just know that I called Arizona’s Johnson on your guy’s website last Dec/Jan. And I tried writing for you all but never heard back from any of you. What’s up?
February 24th, 2008 at 9:05 pmClady will bbe a great RT in the NFl And Long will be a great LT in the NFl i will take Long over Clady any day of the week, i actually think JEff OTah will be a better OT then Ryan Clady if Long is gone then you look to get Ellis or Dorsey one of them will be there hopefully, and if not you trade down and get JEff Otah becasue if we trade down we will most likely miss our opportunity to get Clady
February 24th, 2008 at 9:26 pmRoc27 are you on your period?
February 24th, 2008 at 9:27 pmI think Jake is a better fit for our scheme. Watch Clady go to the broncos and be an all-pro.
February 24th, 2008 at 9:50 pmHas anybody been sold on a fullback yet? We definitely should think about drafting one in the 4th-5th round… Think about Jerome Felton rolling people over for LJ… Goodnight defense.
February 25th, 2008 at 12:25 amIan…. Your Mom.
February 25th, 2008 at 12:50 amWhy dont we bring in Tony Richardson again?? and we can use him the last couple years to train another young full-back on the team.
February 25th, 2008 at 12:53 amroc I can say it over and over as much as those you say can hope it… even if long is there he sucks just as bad as his college does… just because he can bench doesnt make him great in my oppinion … claddy can already run block better than long in my opinion… and ellis mat or may not be there… but after the camp do you honestly think long will be there?…you dont… I voice my opinion just as every other person does… you trying to be a bully on the net is the joke…lol and T Rich… he wont be back… will people understand lj loves to be the lone back… and I dont think, having t rich will make the difference
February 25th, 2008 at 1:34 amsorry Jay you will just have to be frustrated…
February 25th, 2008 at 1:35 amIan your dreaming…
February 25th, 2008 at 1:36 amOk, Mr. Redbeard…. No ones trying to be a "bully on the net". If you feel bullied, then that sounds like a personal problem, bro. All I was doing was saying that I hate when people state THEIR thoughts as if theyre fact. If people on this site wanna have a hope that Jake Long will be there by the time we pick at #5, then who are YOU to say that he WON’T or that they (we) should kill that hope??? Exactly. Im not saying "Hey redbeard dont state your opinion." Hell, I could give 2 sh*ts if you "KNOW" that Jake Long will be gone by the 5th pick, dude. Believe it. But again, what bothers ME is that you as other people are so quick to say something is fact when we’re 60 days away from even knowing what’ll happen… Anyway, lemme stop there before you start giving me you lunch money… Moving on to more relevant things. Clady is NOT better in the running game than Long. Watch the tapes, bro. Clady is more of a pass protection type of Tackle. KC is a run 1st offense (as we all know)… LJ is gonna have a huge year if we get our O-Line back in form… As far as T-Rich goes… I wouldnt cancel out that Tony Richardson wouldnt be back in Kansas City. The chances? I dont know. He probably wont… BUT with him as our fullback, there IS a total difference in our run game. Instead of having Boomer or Chris Wilson running around like headless chickens all over the field, Tony knows exactly where to go, who to block, and where the runner is going, therefore which way to push. We need a FB. Anything to get our running game back to when LJ started turning heads in the league…mind you which is when we HAD Tony Richardson.
February 25th, 2008 at 2:01 amIan… Im sorry for the "your Mom" comment. I just dont want you to feel "bullied" like our dear redbeard apparently does… It was a joke.
February 25th, 2008 at 2:03 amOh and Ian…. I totally agree with you. If we can trade down (with Dallas) and get 2 1st round picks for our 5 spot… then we definitely need to grab Otah. I think Otah is far better than Clady, and fits our scheme a hell of a lot more than Clady would. I also think that we take DRC with the 2 1st round pick… That’d be a success.
February 25th, 2008 at 2:07 amThe Rams drafted Alex Barron a couple years back in the first round to step up an play LT when Orlando Pace retired or was injured. Last year was that year, Barron slid over to the LT position and didn’t do bad. I don’t think the Rams will take Jake Long or any other OT with the second pick.
February 25th, 2008 at 6:09 amOk Steven… So, if THATS the case with St.Louis then we have a scenerio to look at… IF Dallas trades for that #1 pick, we know that theyre going to grab Run DMC. But If Miami DOESNT take up Jerry Jones on the trade (which would be stupid… Have you heard of it?) THEN, who knows what’ll happen… but for speculation. I’ll move on. . . Then at #2 St.Louis would go DT if theyre not going OT ( Jake Long)… We ALL KNOW ATL NEEDS a quarterback ( Matt Ryan). THEN Oakland needs to REALLY work on their D-line… Then comes the promised land!
February 25th, 2008 at 9:47 amDonovan - the two FBs I would like to the Chiefs target in the 5th or 6th rounds would be Hillis and Felton, in that order of preference. Schmitt would be the best choice overall but I have a feeling he’ll be gone by the 4th round. McAnderson as a late 7th rounder or UDFA is another guy I would be interested in seeing at training camp (i.e., with the Chiefs).
February 25th, 2008 at 10:00 amroc then I will refraze it long is 99 percent not gonna be there at five…lol, and as for a full back… I like bam bam,… he had a stomach pull till late in the season… he will be ok.
February 25th, 2008 at 10:18 amAnd lets not cancel out that if Herm and Carl wanted Jake bad enough, they just might start to negotiate with teams 1-4 (whoever has Long in front of them.)
February 25th, 2008 at 10:22 amnot to shoot you down ROC27, but in the scenario you laid out in comment #31……I see Atlanta taking DMAC….you can’t just assume that Atlanta ONLY needs a QB……I could easily see them taking Dmac in the 1st and then Woodson or Flacco in the 2nd
February 25th, 2008 at 11:04 amDave, I can respect that… BUT 1st of all, I KNOW that ATL’s ONLY need is at QB. They need help at almost every position… BUT the fact of the matter is that the Falcons organization is starting from scratch. I think they’re looking to putting class into the team. Theyre rebuilding a franchise and what better way than to start with a franchise QB in Matt Ryan.
February 25th, 2008 at 1:16 pmAnd when I say that theyre looking to putting class into the team… I mean this: Darren McFadden has had some off the field issues, and that IM SURE makes the Falcons think twice. Theyve had enough of dealing with problem children. ( whether it be Vick & the dog fighting, or flipping fans off or D. Hall spitting in other players faces. Take your pick.) Plus, They couldnt win with Harrington Or Leftwich… These guys need a QB bad.
February 25th, 2008 at 1:21 pmAnyone else hear about Clady straining himself on the bench press at the combine? You think he might slip if this is the case?
February 25th, 2008 at 1:58 pmHey Roc27, I see what your saying on the "class" thing…..and they wont be calling me before they make the pick so I could be wrong……but man, to pass on DMac for Ryan would blow me away…….I am shaking my head just thinking about it…….I guess I just don’t like Ryan as much as other people do
February 25th, 2008 at 4:01 pmThe nice thing about he combine, now we have some big names get a lot of buzz. Gohlston out of Ohio St., the Longs, Ryan, and Ellis. They all performed well at the combine either on the fied or in the interviews. This doesn’t even include Dorsey. The rumor is starting that the Tuna really likes Chris Long and Gohlston. As do the Rams. If they could go 1-2, we have a great shot at getting Jake Long. In this copy cat league, a lot of teams will try to copy the Giants….Great pass rushers! I wouldn’t be suprised to see C. Long, Gohlston, D MAC, Ellis, then Long as the first 5 off the board in that order.
February 25th, 2008 at 4:12 pmHey Dave, dont get me wrong, Im NOT all that jazzed about Ryan either, but right now, it seems like he is the #1 QB on the board and I doubt that ATL will go out and try to grab a JP Losman… like supposedly WE are… So, go figure… but you MAY be right. They could very well take Run DMC and pull a Cleaveland Browns. I TOO am going to be suprised everytime a team passes on DMC. Trust me.
February 25th, 2008 at 4:40 pmbannyc9, I totally agree, minus Gohlston… I think Dorsey is still up there… but I DO see people looking for Justin Tuck type of players. He had a huge game in the Super Bowl.
February 25th, 2008 at 4:49 pmDang…. Im sure you all read this… And if you havent… here it is… “He’s a game-changing talent,” said Kansas City president Carl Peterson (of Darren McFadden), whose team holds the No. 5 overall pick and has running back Larry Johnson already in the fold. “He helped himself a lot today … if he’s at No. 5 overall, I’m going to have to consider him long and hard. … And I have a great running back.” … Now, Im sure that it may be some pre-draft hype comment. BUT! Still, just him looking at him makes me wonder… Hmmmm (?) (Bush & McAllister… Jones-Drew & Taylor… LJ and Run DMC!… wait. I gotta snap out of it. We already talked about that a while back… But boy does that sound sick!)
February 25th, 2008 at 6:54 pmit is poss. that philly trades a QB to Atlanta for there first rounder and a second… And yes Roc, KC has been rumored to be talking with Miami for the number one spot… but like I said it is only a rumor I heard.
February 25th, 2008 at 7:09 pmIF THAT rumor is true, then I’d be glad to take it. All though, depending on the Free Agent period we have. Again if we sign at least Starks, D. Hall, and Faneca or another G, and at least ONE WR, then I’d be happy with drafting Long #1 and working our way through the rest of the draft picks from there… Then I was also thinking today after seeing Chris Long’s highlight reel of him at the combine… and… My God. He’s an animal! I would go out on a limb and say that he’s a Top 3 pick. The way he worked out… it was probably one of the best rookie combines Ive seen… Fast, great explosion, very intense, just all around a good football player. If the Raiders werent thinking about him before… They WILL NOW, and NOT just because he’s a Raider off-spring… Atlanta is also letting go of DT R. Coleman. Which brings in a need at that position… That might be a call for either Dorsey or Ellis… Day by day, we can see how this draft might work out.
February 25th, 2008 at 7:51 pmThe bears will take him b cause they are gonna trade up with the pats or jets for their first round pick by giving them their 14 and 44 picks. and with a little luck he will be there still and we will take him in a heart beat
March 28th, 2008 at 8:04 amHey Bears - that would suck if you did that just to have a team trade with the chiefs to get ahead of you
If someone wants McFadden they will have to trade with the Raiders or Chiefs - Book it now
March 28th, 2008 at 9:22 am
