Bengals Choose Rivers, Saints March In

by Chiefs

The Cincinnati Bengals were a little slow on the draw, but after much deliberation made a strong pick — LB Keith Rivers, USC. Some expected them to go secondary, but the pick definitely covers a need area. Now CorneliusFight Club fan or mean parents? — and the New Orleans Saints come marching in to our first ever AA Readers Mock Draft. Please tell me they are thinking defense here. Please.

Cornelius is my last name, heh. My parents don't hate me that much. The Saints are my second favorite NFL team, behind the Chiefs, so I feel reasonably well-equipped to analyze their off-season needs. Linebacker is an issue as well as offensive line, but these are not major and could be addressed effectively with later rounds and free-agency. I had decided ahead of time if one of the elite DT's had landed in my lap I would have to take him, as they are another dire need. With both of them gone however, I don't have any choice except corner. Check http://www.footballoutsiders.com/2008/02/06/rambli... under New Orleans to see what I mean. An aging (but still very good) Mike McKenzie and an aborted stillborn abomination of a cover man (Jason David) mean this corps needs some work. The consensus I'm reading for the top man coverage corner is Leodis McKelvin of Troy, so I'll go with the people's choice.
