Could Sedrick Ellis Be The Pick?
DT Sedrick Ellis has been getting a ton of attention around the nation, and I am starting to realize he might be the pick for the Chiefs. He made his teammates better and anchored a great USC defense. Unlike everyone’s favorite, Ryan Sims, where Julius Peppers made him look better than John Henderson and Albert Haynesworth (at least he did to Dick Vermeil and Carl Peterson). Ellis had a great Senior Bowl and senior season for the Trojans. That is is why in my first mock in December I had the Chiefs taking him.
If Jake Long, Matt Ryan, Run DMC, and Glenn Dorsey are gone, then you have to look at the best overall player. Ellis, I think, is the next guy and might be one of the only Pro-Bowl players left. I know we all want O-line, but if we don’t trade back can we really take a chance reaching for a possible bust? I think Ellis is the real deal and that he actually might turn out to be the best DT in this draft. I think free agency will still play a huge factor in our draft decisions, but don’t think the Chiefs won’t pull the trigger on Ellis.
