Interesting Note
I was driving to a job I had to take care of yesterday morning, and on the way home I was listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio. Sitting in for Colin yesterday was Erik Kuselias. He brought up the topic of who he thought could be the Giants of next season, a team under the radar so to speak winning the Super Bowl. He immediately threw out the Dolphins because he stated they were horrid. Next he threw out the Chiefs and Raiders and then he said something I thought was pretty interesting.
He said (and I’m going to paraphrase here) “When you see Herman Edwards at the Super Bowl and he looks at me and says ‘we’re two years away Erik, two years away’ then I have no choice but to throw them out”
Now first off, I’ve heard Herm state over and over he never watches the Super Bowl, so maybe he was there a couple days before doing some stuff for the NFL or something. I don’t know, just thought I would pass it along.
Whether Herm said it or not, I agree with the assessment. Barring a miracle, it will take at least 2 years of drafting and development before this team has a realistic shot at a championship. The main things we need to see out the Chiefs next season is competitiveness and growth. So, if he did say it, then I guess I appreciate the honesty.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:59 amI agree 100%, saying "we’re two years away" doesn’t mean this team won’t have a realistic shot at the playoffs next season. Once you make it to the playoffs, it’s a whole new season.
