Senior Bowl Highlights

by Draft

Found this over at Arrowhead Pride. The names that stood out to me — and I didn’t watch the game, but I’ve read up on it and watched this reel — QB Chad Henne, OT Chris Williams, CB Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, QB Joe Flacco, OT Sam Baker and DT Sedrick Ellis had the best Senior Bowl weeks. Two other guys Chiefs fans should keep our eyes on are WR Andre Caldwell (who made the game-winning play) and TE Brad Cottam (who I’ve mentioned before as a possible Jason Dunn replacement). Both players performed better than expected, and they could be sitting there in the third and fourth rounds, respectively.

Check out the video, and let us know who impressed you during Senior Bowl week:

I'm from Hawai'i and I must say that Colt Brennan looked BAD.  During the Sugar Bowl, I blamed the O-Line.  Now, he definitely has to take some blame as well.  I was really disappointed.  However, he may be a great project/back-up (way back) for some team.

Thanks for the backup guys. I DO like Jordy Nelson... I DO like Manningham a little more than that (I AM a Wolverine fan, but that has nothing to do with it). BUT like I said, I would DEFINITELY take Dom Crom (hahaha! Dominque Rogers-Cromartie) over Manningham and Nelson. Ive always known he was a good player, BUT when he showed up THAT strong at the Senior Bowl, he "made some money" (Mike Mayock)... Now, will he still be there in the EARLY 2nd round? Well, it IS possible... John mentioned that we need to deal Greg Wesley. As much of a bummer as that would be to me personally, I think that might be the way to go... We also need to throw in Sammie Parker, as we would be fine with a WR draft pick this year. That way we give Sippio and Webb a shot as our #3 reciever. And I dont think that we'll be grabbing a QB in th 1st round... Its been made clear that Brodie's the man for us... This Off-Season is gonna be pretty huge for our franchise. We need to make all the right moves, with all situations (O-Line, Secondary, and our Recievers) and I believe that we will.

I didn't mean take a wr at our 5 spot - I meant OT in the first WR in the second and CB in the third

sorry - didn't mean to come across that strong.  I still don't think that he is worth anything higher than a 3rd - but I take away the "stupid" part

Jordy Nelson was projected in the top 5 wide receivers of the nation, earlier this year. I don't see why he would be a stupid choice in round 2... He's also a great returner, which we greatly need. He would be at least the 3rd option at receiver (not counting TG) as well as the kr/pr, I believe if he can fill 3 positions, he's well worth the 2nd round pick.

John, I do want to say that with the new NFL rules favoring receievers, even the Tampa 2 has been exposed to some degree. If Dominique Rogers-Cromartie is there in round two, I take him. This kid is a sensation, and could last that long because of where he went to school (Tennessee State).

Dave, Jordy Nelson is pretty damn good. Plus, he returns kicks. There also won't be any CB or WR who's good enough to take at the five spot. We have three options: DT, OT, QBThat's it, unless we trade back, which is easier said than done.

Nothing personal but taking Jordy Nelson in the 2nd round would be stupid! Don't get me wrong - he is good, but when you look at the other Wide outs that will be there - that would be a mistake. I think Jordy is at best round 3! For me it is either Best OT -Best WR - Best CB or Dorsey/Ellis (if they fall and Long is gone) followed by best OT in the 2nd and best CB in the 3rd

We have so many holes to fill and such a need for depth that trading away any of our picks would be crazy - we will probably look to trade for more than the 10 we currently have (I bet we shop Greg Wesley around for some picks) - if Talib goes in the first round, somebody reached for him, and no way do we draft a CB in the first round and probably not in the 2nd, not when we're playing some version of Tampa 2.

Well, what I think we should do is take either Long or Clady in the 1st, if in the 2nd DRC is available, then he's our guy, if not and Manningham is there, we gotta get him (he'd be a great #2 WR), and IF BOTH are gone Jordy Nelson would be the guy, in the 3rd I'd say we take Chevis Jackson... Man if somehow we can grab Jackson, DRC, AND Manningham, the "rebuilding" process would be near complete... but like we ALL say, we gotta see what happens during free agency to figure out more less what our goal in the draft will be.

Owen Schmitt won't last till the fourth round, and I'm not even for sure about the 3rd, after his bowl game performance, and the toughness he has shown (on top of being a good blocker.) There are plenty of WR's to go around, yeap, and I'd rather just see us trade up a few of our picks, 2 fourth rounders for a late 2nd rounder perhaps? We have too many picks, and not enough roster spots, I know competition breeds results, but when you have better athletes competing (and most of the time, higher picks = better prospects, I'm not bashing any late rounders here) it also raises the bar. With our abundant supply of late round picks, we could be able to get at least 2-3  first, or early second day positions, and still retain a regular number of drafts, but noooo. King Carl likes quantity.

I want a top CB like Talib or DRC also, but I think we all know that they will be gone in the first. The real value in the second round will be in the Wide reciever and Tackle positions becuase of the depth. Think about it - most that will be there at the top of the second round would be mid to late first round picks in any other year. Hardy, Bowman, Sweed, Manningham, and Docet all have the possibility of being there when we pick - and you could still take a Corner like Jackson or King in the third.I say J. Long in the first - A. Bowman in the second - and King in the third - O. Schmitt in the fourth

I like the idea of taking another receiver in round 2 or possibly 3, god knows we need depth. I still would rather see Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie or Aqib Talib on our team, (CB's) but that's just me. DRC really impressed me in the senior bowl. What I saw of Gosder Cherilus (sp?) I wasn't too keen on him, though, and he was one of the linemen we were scouting out.

Not a bad idea at all. We'll see if the Chiefs agree, though.

I really liked Bowman - am I crazy. I think he can be had in the second round and would make a perfect fit along with Bowe! Any other year and he would be a first rounder. This is a deep WR group and we should take a WR in round two.
