Looks like we had a pretty good read when we identified Gosder Cherilus, Owen Schmitt and Sam Baker as potential draft targets for the Chiefs. We’ll keep adding to this list throughout the week.
Other Senior Bowl News:
Tennessee State DB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has looked fantastic and is “the real deal”… My guy Chevis Jackson has also played well… Sedrick Ellis has been “unblockable.” Some insiders say that he might be the best player in Mobile this week… Baker has been a force blocking wise… Brennan and Woodson haven’t looked that sharp, but neither had Joe Flacco or Erik Ainge… Cherilus has “quick feet” for a big man… DeJuan Tribble is struggling… Jordy Nelson had a TD yesterday. He also threw down Tribble during a failed jam attempt, showing his strength… UT tight end Brad Cottam sounds like a Jason Dunn in training…

Sam Baker! Where do you guys think he’d fall (or rise)??? I mean, I think we need to see if we’re gonna grab an O-Lineman or 2 in FA…That would obviously make our draft possibilites so much clearer… I cant wait!
Id say were not takening an O lineman at 4 or 5 enless Long is there (I dought). I like the idea of getting Erik Ainge in a later round if hes there.
I think a lot of teams will be looking to draft Schmitt because of his bl0cking and short field run/catch abilities. It will be interesting to see where he falls.
I think Schmitt will go somewhere late in the 2nd, even though he’s right now projected as an early 4th rounder. If he lasts until the early 3rd round, I want to snatch him up quick. We need a blocking fullback. We need one bad.. Part of the problem is our O-line, part of the problem is that Kris Wilson cannot block very well on the point of attack. He just can’t move the bodies. He may hold them up, as a TE should, but he can’t push them. Owen Schmitt will pound everything he has into them on every play, until they don’t want to even come to the line of scrimmage anymore… Remember, this is the kid that broke 5-6 of his own facemasks hitting people. Stud written all over him.
