Chiefs Fix: The Links

by Draft
  • WPI has a great article on who the Chiefs might be looking at to fix their return game. The answer just might be WR Jordy Nelson. I think this would be a great pick in the third-fourth round, and many Chiefs fans would be very excited about seeing him play in red. Also, what is it with K-State players and being returners? There is at least five players that are currently returning kicks for NFL teams.

“He’s a fine, fine pro prospect,” Chuck Cook (Chiefs Director of College Scouting) said of Nelson. “I can’t give any higher, glowing recommendations on the way he attacked the game in college and the way he worked himself.”

“He’s really a self-made guy with skills, and that’s what you look for. You look for overachieving guys with physical skills. People don’t realize how fast the guy is. They don’t realize how big he is until they see him. I’ve had some defensive backs here and at the East-West game tell me that this guy, they don’t realize how fast he is on tape until they play the guy. He really has maximized his career at Kansas State.”

Chiefs coach Herm Edwards hired Chan Gailey instead of Price as offensive coordinator. But Edwards thinks highly of Price, who once coached for him when Edwards was with the New York Jets.

  • Here is the rest of the Chiefs Offensive staff:

Curtis Modkins – Running Backs Coach (Colorado State’s OC last year)
Bob Bicknell - Offensive Line Coach (Asst. Offensive Line Coach last year)

All I know is a 2nd WR would be great... he can be a Crayton to our T.O. ("our T.O. being D.Bowe) Man, if we can have that double threat and get Bowe some more opportunities... I really feel like he can be one of the best in the game. No joke.

I think he'll be there in the early third. That's just me. And the Giants have a good QB.

I think this kid would be great with this, but I seriously, seriously doubt Jordy will drop to the 3rd-4th round. I think he'll be gone by the middle of the 2nd round. Most top 5 positional rankings I have seen list him as the 4th-5th best WR coming into the draft.. Those aren't 100% accurate, and usually change by the time the draft hits us, but they are also usually very close. I just think he's going to be gone, but we have two 3rd rounders don't we? If we could possibly snatch up Jordy and Owen Schmitt in the 3round, as well as maybe an OT and CB in the first 2, then I will be a very happy man indeed. We need contributors out of every draft pick we have. Look at the Giants, they had 8 draft picks last year, and every single one of them has made contributions to their team.. No one expected them to get much farther than .500 at best. They are now in the super bowl, and have quite a few promising young players... The youth movement has merit, even though I doubt we hit the SB next year, or for a couple more after that at least, one can still dream :)
