While we can find starting talent in the 2nd round (See Tony Ugoh, Indianapolis) and this year's draft class IS going to be good, at least for linemen, I still think we need a top notch guy, if we can't nail one or two free agent pick ups on the line, then we need top of the line guys. I'm still wishing for Alen Faneca, or maybe Justin Smiley from the 49'rs (guard) He's young, and Frank Gore led the NFC in rushing last year, and the 49'rs offense is starting to click. If we got him or Faneca, then we are set at guard, with Waters as the other. McIntosh will be right tackle, I'd like to see Clady at left, and Chris Bober either cut, or given the center position. He's draining us of a few million a year and he's been sitting on IR. Not cool.

The question is not what the Chiefs SHOULD do...it is what Carl Peterson WILL do. He made it clear at the year-end press conference that his big mistake has been the offensive line. He will try to rectify that and save some face. Geez this draft is make or break for us!

does anyone remember when we drafted Hali...lolto me that was the biggest reach...when we needed to get a o-lineman back then or a wideout... that year I sat at Jakes in the northtown area...(great food people) and watched both tackles and the top three rated wideouts sit on the board , only to here the chiefs take Hali... this was the year following us taking johnson at linebaker because they said he was to good to pass by, well then to watch needed players at O-tackle and wideout slip to us, and not take them didnt make any sinse what so ever... I am sitting here in Arizona at the moment and see two great wideouts a extreamly good running back and even a QB, (two QBs actually) and they like the chiefs have no O-line... the chiefs are headed in the direction of the Arizona cardinals... without a o-line the stars cant win day in day out no matter how good they are. watch the new england games brady has all day long to throw the ball...just as we used to have,...do we really wish to draft 2nd and 3rd round talent to sit on the bench with last years 2nd and third round picks...what did we all call them before the season started TNT...

I think Kolby is fine as a back-up, occasional player. It's just when people compare him to L.J., I want to pick up my monitor and throw it across the room. I like Kolby, but this whole anti-L.J. thing has just gotten under my skin, because No. 27 is my guy.

Damon has already showed when he is in a backup role he can come in and light things up. When teams get to see everything he does, he's not as great (see last year versus this year) And Page, he was a 7th round pick, and he HAS made some decent plays for us. Give him some more time to mature, I think he'll be alright. Remember he has singlehandedly saved us versus the Raiders twice, with picks in the redzone/endzone. Kolby isn't a great runner, and maybe never will be, but don't be so down on the guy, in a backup role he will be fine. And I think screens would utilize his juking and shiftiness.

I like Kolby, but all I'm gonna say is he is the most overrated Chief by fans right now. he and Jarrad Page. Neither of those guys are a reasonnot to draft somebody better.

And I don't think we can bet on Brodie. He'll probably play 12 of 16, if we're lucky. Great quarterbacks not only lead their teams, they show up every week.

We don't necessarily need a game manager, but we need to be smarter on offense. Too many times did we line up in a power formation, and got beat on the line, and our RB thrown for a loss? Way too many. When LJ had alot of success, was when we spread out the offense, 3-4 receiver sets, Tony G one of them, with one man in the backfield, we ran all day long. Teams have to respect that passing game, or we'd beat them there too. But when we get to the red-zone we need a line strong enough to plow in there for the score. Right now we don't have that, we're getting beat up front. We only have two legitimate bonafide threats in DBo and Tony G, I'd like to see Kris Wilson back at TE, he made some nice catches last year (and had a few drops) but we simply couldn't wait for him to roll out from the FB position, then run downfield on a route. Also, I think our offense got too far away from the screens, that used to be our bread and butter with Priest, Kolby reminded me a lot of Priest on some plays, the shiftiness and patience following a blocker. Even Larry isn't bad at screens, I remember the 70+ yarder he pulled on Arizona a couple years ago. We play smarter on the offensive side, and get Brodie some quick, safe throws, aka screens, and I think we'll see some better production.

ITI, we'll see. I think his stock will rise, but that's just me. He fits that McNabb/Culpepper/Campbell/Russell mold that always seems to be popular.

Jeremy, there's no reason why we can't compete next year. We were 4-3, had beaten one final four team and were beating another when our franchise player went down. In the NFL you can rebuild quickly. Actually, it's more like retooling. The Packers could go from non-playoff team to Super Bowl champions.

XXXLP, no way should we pick a second receiver. We should sign one. Receivers flake out in the draft. We finally got lucky, why throw away that luck. And you can't win a Super Bowl with a game manager at QB. You used to be able to, but now the rules favor offenses. All of the teams left in the playoffs have loaded offenses and strong QBs. That's where the game is...

I think if we go O-line, then get a 2nd receiver (especially if Kennison is gone) a corner, a fullback, and fix our kicker and kick return situation, we'll go at least .500 this year. Then next year we can use our top pick on a MLB, ala Patrick Willis or Lofa Tatupa, I think we'll be ready to contend. I don't think Brodie is great, but give him some time, it was his first year starting, how well did Peyton do in his first year? He sucked. Look at him now, behind that great O-line. Or maybe we could trade for a low-key qb, like J.P. Losman, since they now have Trent Edwards in Buffalo. Joey Harington perhaps? I think the Falcons will either draft QB, or use Chris Redman if he looks good in camp. We don't need a guy to turn into Tom Brady for us, we just need a guy like Damon was last year, effecient, and who can do just enough to keep Larry from getting 8-9 man fronts.
